Short HIlls Ophthalmology provides comprehensive adult and pediatric eye care, including small-​incision, no-​stitch cataract surgery and in-​office laser procedures for diabetes and glaucoma. Dr. Farbowitz also specializes in premium lens impants, including multifocal and toric lenses for best visual correction after cataract surgery.

Dr. Farbowitz has been performing LASIK laser vision correction since 1998, and obtains the best possible results using CustomVue wavefront technology, while acheiving lowest possible risk using the IntraLase bladeless laser. Dr. Farbowitz performs LASIK vision correction surgery at the state-​of-​the-​art St. Barnabas Refractive Surgery Center.

Short Hills Ophthalmology Group, founded in 1948, is the oldest and largest eye care group in the area. Dr. Farbowitz has been practicing at Short Hills Ophthalmology since 2001. Dr. Farbowitz has published extensively, co-​authored a textbook on ophthalmic surgery, and presented his research at national meetings. He is a member of numerous local and national societies, and has been named one of America’s top ophthalmologists.

Business Owner

Michael A. Farbowitz, MD is one of the only fellowship-​trained refractive surgeons in the area. He is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Johns Hopkins University. He attended NYU School of Medicine and served his residency in Ophthalmology at the Long Island Jewish Medical Center. Dr. Farbowitz then performed a specialized fellowship in laser vision correction and advanced cataract surgery techniques at the prestigious Jules Stein Institute at UCLA.
