We have been living in Shingletown for more than 9 years, we have learned to adjust our expectations from«City Life» to «Rural Lifestyle» and make concessions for the remoteness of the town(30 — 45 minutes from Redding). The ONE place we have felt like NO concessions were needed was right here at Reed’s! We regularly go here for a quick meal at the end of the day on weekends when we are just too tired to drive all the way into town or don’t want to cook at home. I get their deli sandwiches«to go» quite often on my way to work. I have NEVER been disappointed or had any kind of issue at all with either the Deli, the Employees, the Market, Produce, Propane or Gas. The parking lot is convenient for cars, trucks, trailers, big rigs, whatever ya got. Of course it could be that I don’t treat others rudely, have a Big City Attitude or Timeline. We are more laid back and friendly here in Shingletown, if you don’t like that, or you can’t adjust, there are PLENTY of other places you can take your attitude. If you expect City in the Country, then you should not leave the City and just rent a video telling you all about what you are missing. Believe me, the bear, coyotes, raccoons, pacific fishers, fox and jack rabbits will NOT miss you.

I worked in this deli for almost a year. I took the job because there was no where else to work in this god forsaken town. I have managed delis in the past and I have to tell you this is the filthiest«kitchen» I have ever seen. The meat is always out of date and expired. I personally saw Carl Reed, Owner drop a bin of deli meat on the floor when he was going for a snack with his dirty little fingers. Carl looked around and put it back in the bin and in the fridge. They spray raid all over the butcher blocks and counters and even in the air to try to rid the kitchen of flies. They have fly tape hanging over the slicing areas. The reason everyone is so rude is because they hate working there, the owner and his witch of a daughter are bullies. They yell at their employees and make fun of customers. They have no issues what so ever with serving expired food. I was fired for using my voice, which was great ! Thanks for the unemployment check Stacy Shaw!!!

If there were an option for 0 stars I would have picked that. Awful prices, expired food, staff is rude and hateful! I worked there and saw first hand the bugs flies even bug spray right over raw meat! The owners daughter and wife are mean spirited people. They make fun of customers especially ones who have food stamps. Just deplorable! The deli sandwiches are good but the peppered turkey was over a year expired and they had us hide it from the food inspector. Don’t support this place!!! Please!!!

This is a full service market in a little village halfway up the mountain between Redding and Mt. Lassen. In other words, it’s a lot more than I ever expected in such a thinly population area. We were staying nearby in a housekeeping cabin and we found Reed’s to be very helpful in meeting our needs. They have a complete grocery market with all the goods we would expect anywhere else, reasonably fresh and not overly priced given the location. Part of the space is given over to a retail hardware outlet, which probably meets a lot of local needs in an isolated community like this. We needed an Allen wrench and found what we were looking for at a price that would be competitive in any city. Maybe the best service for us was their little takeout counter next to the deli. They serve a wide range of hot and cold items from 7am to 7pm. We had breakfast there one day and had them make sandwiches for us for two other days. The breakfast offerings are heavy on meat and eggs, not much in the way of fruits or greens. But the sandwiches were large, with a variety of meats, toppings and bread. The women behind the counter were very friendly and very efficient. And though the counter is meant mainly for takeout, they do have a few tables and chairs if you want to eat there. If you need to go shopping anywhere around Shingletown, you’ll probably end up at Reed’s at some point.

The Deli’s breakfast was awesome. The portions were excellent according to the price. The quality of the ingredients was fresh. The staff was pleasant and helpful. I definitely will be back for more.

Good deli. The food is outstanding. Staff is friendly. The tiny one with the blonde hair is super nice. Prices are a little high but they have to truck in the food. Better than wasting gas to get to redding unless you have a gas friendly car.

I’m surprised by the good reviews I see here. They must be written by the owners or employees. I recently moved to Shingletown. My wife has been to Reeds twice, and I just went for the first time. She had told me how incredibly rude the staff was, and I couldn’t believe it. So I went with her the next time. I was blown away by this place. The staff is so rude, and the prices are just too high(even for a small town market)! I couldn’t believe anyone actually shops there anymore. Because of the attitude I got from the employees, I will not be back to Reeds. Not to shop, not to go to the deli, and not to buy gas. We go to Redding once a week to shop. That will be good enough for us. They will not get another cent from me.

Good Deli but prices in the store are outrageous. I live in Shingletown and if I need more than a couple of items, I’ll go to Redding or Anderson

Great little supermarket(and hardware store), but mostly a deli/dinner spot for us. We had two quick, tasty dinners(panini, and hot sandwiches) here(August 2012). We really liked the milkshakes, too. They’ve got a surprising variety of options(including breakfast items all day), too. We also picked up sandwiches early in the morning to take on a hike into Lassen. They were great. They even had a reasonable vegetarian sandwich. The staff was all very friendly and helpful, too.

Reeds is a smaller supermarket but with essentials and a little bit of everything. The employees were incredibly pleasant and quick to help, and the deli to the left hand side had a very large variety of food ranging from all day breakfast, milkshakes, sandwiches, etc. Being a very small town is is expected some items are a bit more expensive but that just goes with the territory!

Great fresh made sandwiches! Now compared to my experience the week before from Tiburon supermarket, the sandwich from Reeds was like Puttin on the Ritz! Soft fresh honey wheat bread, ripe tasty red tomatoes, sweet onion, tangy sharp Swiss with a generous amount of Honey Ham. Now this is how a sandwich should be. The service was prompt and polite. They also practice Serve Safe hygenic practice with wearing gloves while they made my sandwich! So if you are on the way to Lassen, you can always stop by here to pick up last minute picnic goodies!
