Specialties

The Cat Adoption Team is the Pacific Northwest’s largest nonprofit, limited admission, feline-only animal shelter. We specialize in shelter, adoption, foster, low-cost spay/neuter, and veterinary services to save the lives of unwanted, homeless, sick, and injured cats and kittens.

Visitors to CAT’s shelter in Sherwood, or to any of our offsite adoption locations, have the opportunity to meet and interact with cats and kittens available for adoption. Our dedicated staff and volunteers work with you through the process to help match you with just the right cat or kitten.

CAT provides low-cost spay/neuter services to qualified cat caregivers in our community. Please visit our website for details.

Volunteer opportunities at CAT pay you in purrs! From socializing cats to working with adopters, from fostering kittens to helping in our hospital, from data entry to event outreach, there’s a volunteer job that’s the right fit for you. Volunteer application is available on our website.

History

Established in 1998.

The Cat Adoption Team has been helping cats land on their feet for more than 15 years.

In 2000, CAT was the first animal shelter in Oregon to house a full-service, onsite veterinary hospital to care for it’s animals.

CAT received official 501©(3) nonprofit status in 2004. CAT is the largest nonprofit, limited admission, feline-only animal shelter in the Pacific Northwest.

Our nationally recognized kitten foster program (Fostering 4 Rock Stars) began in 2005.

CAT, along with several other area animal shelter and animal welfare organizations, founded the Animal Shelter Alliance of Portland (ASAP) in 2006.

The Thrift Store Benefitting Cat Adoption Team, located in Raleigh Hills, opened in 2011, and all proceeds from the store support CAT.

In 2013, CAT celebrated a milestone of 30,000 feline adoptions since our founding. We look forward to serving more cats and the people who care for them for many, many years to come.
