I would give more than 5 stars if I could! I shopped around after I decided that our current vet in Woodland Hills was not only too pricey but not consistent with care. I visited several places before deciding on Sherman Oaks Veterinary Group to spay our rescue puppy. They were honest with the price (they gave me an itemized list of costs), so unbelievably caring before, during and after, and great with follow through. Dr. Jimenez preformed the surgery — what a great choice! Our Coco looked and acted energetic the following day as if nothing had happened. Some key staff: Jennifer (absolutely kind, helpful and professional), Ashleigh (a dog whisperer), and Cheryl (patient with all my questions) — I will only go here for all our pet’s needs!

They take great care of my dog and have in the past had a Thursday evening
shot clinic to save a little money. I would like to see specials and discounts
for seniors or low income.
Had a situation where I was going on a vacation and my dog had diarrhea. Her regular boarding could not take her. SO vet was very accommodating and cared for her in my
absence.

Amazing vets! My dog and I couldn’t be happier! You know you are at the right place when, whether it is for a well or sick visit, your dog jumps out of the car and races up to their front door with his tail wagging. (ok– he isn’t thrilled with getting his ears cleaned, but likes his hugs from everybody afterwards!)

I recently took my dog to Sherman Oaks Veterinary Group for a physical and then sedated dental. Dr. Andrea Richter cared for my dog as if she were my child (and let’s be serious– for many of us, they are our children). During her dental, Dr. Richter called me with updates at every stage and did nothing additional without my prior consent. I appreciated that immensely. In terms of pricing, they aren’t cheap, but nor are they unreasonable. For the quality of care your pet receives, I’d say they were perfectly on par. The front desk staff was also extremely helpful, efficient, and knowledgeable. We’ll be back!

These guys are the best. Great with dogs. Great with their owners.

I am always happy when I take my cats here. They really go out of their way to take care of you (especially if you mention Unilocal!). They did a great job doing wellness visits for my cats before flying them and gave a prescription to chill them out on the plane (a real life-​saver). They are very responsive and really do try to help. I loved the service from the front staff.

I took my 9 y. o beagle to get her anal glands expressed. Eww, I know. And I also know groomers make this apart of their service, but when I found out the exam was free for first timers, I decided to take her here. Dr. Jiminez was very nice and thorough, answering my questions about some recent bumps on my old hound’s head and back. They were very straightforward with the treatment plan and pricing. I’ll take Tobee back for some blood work :)

Absolutely unprofessional and disrespectful! They made me wait 45 min despite I had a appointment and after my complaint they stated «The doctor is busy and going to see us in 15 min or so». I don’t mind to pay their fees which are not cheap but I honor the appointment time and they obviously just do not care.

We have enjoyed the services of the SOVG.
They have always been very accommodating for any last minute call for emergency and punctual for the regular appointments and friendly reminders.

Staff is very friendly which makes a big difference. Dr. Clipsham is an absolute doll and you can tell her actually cares. First visit is free which is a plus. Giving four stars because I had to wait 40 mins I efore being seen despite the fact that I made an appointment a week in advance. It was also New Years Eve day though so maybe they were extra busy for that reason – would have been a nice fact to know when making my appointment… if I would have known that then I probably would have booked for another day.

Wonderful staff so friendly and helpful. My vet took out of his time to explain everything to me and I came in without an appointment and they accepted me right away. The place is very clean and well kept.

This place is a rip off. The staff is nice but who cares? They have to be nice otherwise they couldn’t be employed in a vet so being nice is not a criteria in this case.
I went there for my 2 year old dog’s vaccines.
I didn’t have an appointment thus i had to waste 35 mins in a room.
They had told me on the phone that examination on the first visit is for free and when i got there they tried to charge me $ 58 for only the visit besides shots. Why? Because my dog was adopted from the shelter (1 year ago). I’ve never heard something like that before. Shelter dogs are sick, nasty dogs that should be treated differently than the dogs that are purchased from breeders or even pet stores? I don’t think so!!!
After wasting my time, I left that place without my dog getting his shots. I really felt bad about this situation. I went to this place very positive and happy and they took all my positivity. I hardly write negative reviews for businesses but I can’t stand my time getting wasted. Most of the other places charge half of the price for the first visit and they don’t try to attract people with «free exam» promises then try to charge them for it.

This is kind of a gross review, but I felt it was necessary to share. Being brand new kitten owners, we had yet to find a vet. Sherman Oaks Vet Group was referred to me by a friend and I figured when we needed to go to the vet, we would check this place out.
That being said, I didn’t think our visit to the vet would be sooner than expected. Our brand new kitty had tapeworms!!! Yuck! They were so bad, they stared popping out of her! I freaked out and called any and every vet in my area to see if I could bring her in ASAP. Then I remembered the referral, and I called SOVG. They were so helpful, they squeezed us in and saw us within the 30 minutes after I had called. Dr. Andrea was caring and compassionate, we immediately knew we were in good hands.
All said and done, the cost was definitely doable and our kitty seems to be happy and tapeworm free! We will most definitely be back! Thanks SOVG!

Barnaby Greengrass, such a pretty boy but really a silly baby for a big ol’ 100 pound Saint Bernard, had growths on top of his head. I love the care and after his surgery care, so personal — they let us go out the back way immediately after his surgery when he was anxious about other dogs and he recovered beautifully. They took such gentle care of him when it was time to remove his stitches (even trimming his ever-​growing toenails and dew claws) and he has no scar under that furry mop of his.
It’s a wonderful place that has been there forever. I live in Venice and I would only take my guys there.

I have been bringing my Labrador Retriever to Dr. Jimenez since the day we brought him home and the entire staff at Sherman Oaks Vet Group has been nothing but kind, honest and caring.
Any fees for your pet can be discussed up front so their is no hidden charges .
We brought our Golden Retriever for 14 years prior to taking our new Chocolate Lab Puppy.
The staff is, very knowledgeable and caring because they all animal lovers too.
I will always recommend my friends to Sherman Oaks Vet Group, because they are the best Vet. Group in the S. F.Valley.

Nothing, with the possible exception of a human child, can bring you to your knees emotionally than when your dog (pet) is hurt. My chihuahua, who is a rescue and older, had a sudden onset of back pain that was completely debilitating. Thanks to the expert wisdom and knowledge of the vets there, she is doing much, much better. Dr. Khadari & Dr. Andrea Richter are excellent communicators and obviously very caring of the animals that come in for their help.
They both did very thorough exams and treatments and it ended up that my dog needed to be hospitalized in order to get stabilized. Within a couple days, I could see she was feeling much better and I got to bring her home. I opted for medically managing her back pain rather than going for surgery, which is expensive, like crazy expensive, and not even guaranteed to work and the fact that she is older, a bigger risk. The most effective treatment for her pain seemed to be laser, acupuncture, rest & steroids.
As per their instructions, I got my dog a soft crate in order to restrict her movements and she is on a very specific pill & med management schedule.
Dr. Richter really went out of her way to make sure I was comfortable with the choice of care for my dog and wrote out detailed home care. My dog seems to be doing well on this regimen and I am keeping a close eye on her.
Thankfully, my dog began eating and drinking today on her own so I do not have to «spoon-​feed» her. I am so grateful to this incredible team (the girls at the front counter and vet techs are also very professional and caring) at Sherman Oaks Vet group. Thank you for helping my «child.»
~A word on vet expense: vet care is exorbitantly expensive and I have not been to a vet that is not. I wish I would have gotten pet insurance from the get-go…I don’t know if this place was more expensive or not (and I wasn’t exactly in a position to shop around). It was more expensive than I expected (what health care in this Country without insurance isn’t?) but on the other hand, my dog is a family member, she is improving from their care and is out of pain, so I guess it is all relative. I have a feeling vet care is just one of those things that is expensive. Next dog, definitely getting insurance. Or becoming a vet. Kidding. Either way I am grateful my pup is feeling better. Thank you.

One of the worst veterinary experiences I’ve ever had in my life. This got so bad, that the office assistant told me that if I don’t leave, they will call the police, when I had just raised my voice! STAY THE «F» away! I would go to an alley clinic in Watts, Compton or Lynwood from someone who cannot speak English and is an illegal immigrant before even thinking of coming to this poor excuse for an establishment! I guess I’ll have to, since it got soooo bad, that they even put a note on my account, to refuse service. Here is the story:
I was on vacation, and my two cats were under the care of my roommate. When I came back both my two cats, had scaly scabs around their neck. It could have been from stress or it could have been from flees. Either way, I decided to take them to the vet. I bought my food at this vet for three years before trying them.
I met with Dr. Clipsham, who appeared to be a nice guy at first glance. I told him how much it was going to cost me, and he quoted me verbally at between 130 – 150 (FOR BOTH MY CATS). He took a swab from both cats, trimmed the nails, and made sure there were no parasites in their ears. All of this took approximately ten to fifteen minutes. Nothing went wrong. He told me he was going to prescribe REVOLUTION, which I had originally thought was in the quote. He told me even though he found no flees on either of my cats, that this would prevent it in the future.
At check out, the cashier/​assistant told me the bill was nearly 300.00. I was furious, but the doctor said this was standard. They tossed the «disposal of waste fee» and it came to 278 which is insanely expensive proportionate to the work.
How do I know this? The next day, I called several clinics and asked them for pricing, and many others quoted me at 100 $ dollars less. This is not the only thing that they insanely gouge you with. Sherman Oaks Veterinary Group wanted to check for blood and to have my two cats teeth cleaned, which would have come to over 1000 dollars! I called the echo park veterinary group, and they quoted me at that price for less than half. I also asked a variety of vets whether or not it was inappropriate for them to quote me a different quote after everything was all said and done. I believe this business pulls this stunt on a routine basis, which directly violates the California Medical Board of Ethics for mainly lack of transparency, and gross overcharges.
So, in a nutshell, I came back this morning after finding flees on one of my cats. He was also hiding in the corner and not feeling well. I was furious. The doctor did not find flees, and all of a sudden there are flees. It’s as almost as if he did not even LOOK! When the assistant had placed him in his carrier before, she even spotted one! OOPS! Guess the good old DOC needs to get his eyes checked at the ears nose and throat doctor up the block.
So I came back this morning, pretty upset, and I met with Dr. Richter. He took another look and said that the cats were fine. I asked then why did I find flees on them this morning. He told me that’s exactly why they gave medication, but the only problem is Dr. Clipsham failed to tell me what he was doing and why. Not only this, but he misquoted me. All of the veterinary establishments I had visited prior to this, takes transparency very seriously. This place knows they overcharge clients, and then hits them with surprises AFTER when treatment is all said and done, so the customer is placed in a high-​pressured awkward situation. They know it’s wrong, yet they blatantly disregard the complaints! Just look at all the Unilocal reviews who mention how unfair their prices are. So, what am I supposed to do? The work is done, right? I can’t argue with them. The doctor said it was standard, and that I was not duped. If so, why don’t you give me the quoted estimate before checking out like most reputable places do? Oh, that’s right; if you do, you know that I will certainly opt for the cheaper vet. Therefore, this place is deceptive and manipulative at the very least. Whether or not they engage in fraud is another story. I have my suspicions.
At the end of the day, after multiple phone calls, and another visit, they agreed to credit my account 120 off the 280.
My cat is still sick, and I’ll be taking my two cats to the Echo Park veterinarian which has a 25 percent off all itchy related skin related treatment and bloodwork and cleaning for less than 500 dollars which is about half of what these scam artists are asking.
For those who think they have absolutely no recourse on the matter, go to the veterinary medical board of california and file a complaint.
Also, go the better business Bureau BBB, and file a complaint.
If you charged it to your credit card in the last six months, do a charge back.
Put pressure on this business and send the message that their practices are inappropriate, not transparent, and not OK!

When you’re already running late to work, you’re rushing out of your front door, carrying a gym bag, handbag and in a white dress the LAST thing you want to spot on your baseboard molding is blood!
Immediately I picked up our kitten and there it was, all over her beautiful white little fur — blood! :(on and around her back paw.
I tried cleaning it off but I’m by no means a vet, I can barely take care of myself so I had my son hold her as I continued to try to examine what in the world had happened to her and then left for work.
I called the only vet she’s ever been to in Burbank, who was completely booked but said any pet who is bleeding should always be taken in for an exam so I hopped off the freeway and went home to take her into Sherman Oaks Vet.
We walked in on a busy Wednesday morning as a new client/​patient with no appointment and she was super nervous I’m sure — knowing this is definitely not her Wednesday AM routine.
The staff here were very friendly, calm and accommodating. I filled out a really quick one pager while they jotted down a bit of her info and we waited in the lobby until we could be squeezed in between other appointments.
Dr. Franklin was very nice and took great care of Charley. Examined her thoroughly and it turned out to be not so bad. Got her cleaned up, and her nails trimmed and even offered for us to wait to retake her temperature since it was high from the stress.
Our first exam here was free which was very kind and very much appreciated, especially when you have a slight emergency that you weren’t planning for I was of course dreading the worse and thought I’d have to cough up an exam fee, plus RXs but none of that.
Charley was super relaxed the entire time and I’m definitely bringing her back here for routine annual check ups and vaccinations.

I am happy to report that the Sherman Oaks Vet. Group reads Unilocal reviews. They called to discuss what happened with the botched grooming job as well as the sky-​high costs, and have explained the situation and rectified it. I applaud their pro-​activeness in getting to the bottom of this and finding an amicable solution.
