Roze Room Hospice of the Valley

The service at Roze Room Hospice was exceptional. The staff was incredibly professional, and sympathetic towards the situation and provided all the support needed.

Roze Room Hospice of the Valley was chosen by my sister-​in-​law upon a recommendation of my mother-in-law’s physician. My sister-​in-​law had previously fired a hospice team because the team members would not coordinate visits as precisely as she wanted. So when the physician recommended the Roze Room team, my sister-​in-​law hired them.
The care givers from Roze Room are awesome. They are like angels taking care of my mother-​in-​law. But, I could only give this business one star because of the way they handle the administration side of their business. You see, when I was visiting my mother-​in-​law, I saw evidence of physical and mental abuse. I was already aware of financial abuse. My sister-​in-​law had bled her mother’s estate dry to the bone, even to the point of carrying the home into foreclosure. Yes; I have seen the foreclosure letter and that’s not the issue here. The issue is the physical and mental abuse that I witnessed and reported to the Roze Room team. In addition to the abuse that was reported, there were six neighbors who wanted to report the abuse that they had witnessed, as well. I asked Roze Room to talk to the neighbors to hear what they had to share. The team leader for the Roze Room group said, «Oh, let’s not get the neighbors involved.» I told her that the neighbors wanted to be involved. In fact, they were awaiting the call from someone at Roze Room. When the neighbors discovered that Roze Room had no intention of investigating the abuse, one of the neighbors filed a formal report to the Elder Abuse Hotline, neighbors informed the sheriff’s department, and also contacted a social worker to initiate an investigation. These people are appalled at how little the Roze Room team cared about a reported abuse. I thought hospice workers were mandated by the state of California to investigate all reports of abuse. Yet, Roze Room did nothing.
I give Roze Room Hospice of the Valley one star because, even though they did their job of physically caring for my mother-​in-​law, they did nothing to advocate on her behalf once they became aware of a reported abuse. They were shown a video of the abuse. After watching the video, the team leader said, «Oh, she must have been having a bad day and took it out on her mother.» What kind of response it that?
In this case, the abuser is my sister-​in-​law. My sister-​in-​law is the one who hired Roze Room, so I guess Roze Room has more allegiance for my sister-​in-​law because of their fear of being fired than they do for my defenseless mother-​in-​law who is being abused and can’t stand up for herself. I am appalled at how little they care about their patient. I feel they did not take due diligence in their position as care providers. If they had done a thorough job of investigating a reported abuse situation, they would have saved my mother-​in-​law from such torture. While it is too late to save my mother-​in-​law, I write this review with the hope that it would help save someone else from harm.
