Rising Lotus Yoga

Spent my Mother’s Day evening here, enjoying the Relax Deeply class that I booked via ClassPass. My boyfriend decided to join me, and as much as I adore studios that do first time free for new students — Rising Lotus is not one of them. It’s $ 20 for your first class or $ 25 for unlimited 2 weeks for new students (which sounds like a good deal, but other studios do entire free weeks — so I’d definitely say this place is on the pricier side, for us newbies).
I thoroughly enjoyed our time spent here and Micki was great. If you know me at all, you know I’m totally not into this sort of stuff, yoga stuff. I had been extremely sore all week and was looking to do a few nice stretches to relax on My day :) I came to this class, right after finishing a spin class which may have made it hard to relax but Micki’s guided breathing techniques really helped me get in my zone.
I very much look forward to returning. I’ve often heard of people choosing a studio that they feel best matches their style and something about Rising Lotus really made me feel comfortable and right at home.
It’s close to home and I’m all about supporting Sherman Oaks businesses, but most of all it was my experience in this class that made the visit a total success. From the moment, the class before had concluded and Micki opened the door she had a smile on her face and was very welcoming.
My boyfriend and I will definitely return. I almost wish he were the one of ClassPass with only 2 visits left here and I had purchased the new student deal.
I brought my own mat but my boyfriend doesn’t have one and they have plenty to use (free of charge). They didn’t offer tea which I love at YogaWorks but other than that, a very pleasant first time.
Plenty of parking in the private parking lot off of Magnolia.
I slept like a baby Sunday night :) I think it was due to this place. Do, check them out!

(3.5 stars) I found this studio on Classpass and overall enjoy practicing my yoga here. They offer ample free parking in the back, spacious restrooms/​changing rooms, yoga mat rental, and different types and levels of Vinyasa classes.
So far, I’ve attended the Candlelit Flow class taught my Madeleine Tuesday evenings. This is a great class for any yogi– beginner or advanced and Madeline is a very comforting and uplifting instructor. You will break a sweat, but not crazy sweat like hot yoga. I definitely would say I feel the most relaxed after I finish this class in comparison to other yoga classes.
The reason my true rating is 3.5 stars is based on two things:
1– They don’t offer water/​cleaner for yoga mats which is a total bummer
2– Although I love Madeline’s class, each time I’ve attended, the class has run over extensively past 10 – 15 minutes which is annoying
However, I’m overall pleased with this studio and will continue my practice here. I just hope management takes note, gets better supplies and improves their timekeeping.

I have been practicing yoga for decades; I began in what many would consider the «best» studios in New York city and in many different places while living here in Los Angeles for the last 9 years. I can wholeheartedly say that RISING LOTUS is as good as it gets. The teachers are all trained at the highest level and make sure to communicate the spiritual basis of the practice without ever compromising the challenges and rigor of the poses. All the teachers I’ve been with at Rising Lotus — though of course different in flavor and personality — instill a sense of kindness, knowledge and attentive-​ness. Many of them rise to the level of fantastic fun and downright hilarity, leading the class in difficult poses but plenty of smiles to go along with them! The place is full of good vibes and that translates to the people who attend classes there. They are doing things right here and it shows. Bravo RISING LOTUS! I’m so grateful you’re in the neighborhood. It add tremendous value to my life.

I love this place. It feels like a second home. It’s rare for me to find very authentic yoga studios to further my practice, and Rising Lotus is definitely one of them!
The teachers are wonderful at sharing their knowledge and focus on their students’ experiences in their class. The rooms are clean and natural feeling with large windows that bring in just enough light during the day.
Even when I took my first class at the studio it already felt like a second home. My favorite yoga studio in Sherman Oaks, hands down.

I used to do an introductory basic yoga class in college about a year ago and then a friend purchased a groupon deal from Rising Lotus as a birthday gift for me and I’m so glad she did!
I would jog from my apartment to the studio so I never had my yoga mat with me but they provide all the clean and necessary materials in a clean, wecloming environment.
This studio is amazing. I absolutely loved every instructor. The deal has unfortunately ended but I’ll miss the Saturday morning 9am Level 1 – 2 flow classes with Claire and Sheri. I actually felt like I had a workout and felt so relaxed in an unpretentious environment. It felt like my weekly dose of home. I couldn’t wait to go to these classes! They adjust you accordingly and instruct your body with confidence which makes you feel just as confident in your body!
I also tried Karen’s Level 2 class on a Friday at 8am and goodness! I must’ve been drenched in sweat — it was a great way to start my Friday morning.
The receptionist was always sweet and remembered my name upon every visit. I will absolutely come back and restart my membership.

I got a 20 class package on Groupon, used it all and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The studio is nice and clean, and is located on the 2^nd floor of a newly renovated building. They studio has its own free parking lot in the back, but the number of spaces are limited. There are also street parking. I always find parking easily during weekdays class, except for the classes on saturday or sunday morning when I had trouble finding parking on the street and had to circle the block many times before I can find a space. The teachers are knowledgeable and they will walk around to correct your form and/​or alignment. Definitely recommend to check this studio out.

I love going to this place. Nina is my favorite instructor: very knowledgeable and caring. She is absolutely amazing!!!

This started off as a journey in self-​care via Groupon or LivingSocial. You know how it is.
Well, luckily I had my first class with who I think is the b e s t instructor there. Thank goodness. She was so patient and kind and I felt comfortable opening up to her about my unique situation with my body. She embraced me wholeheartedly. Thank you. As a person who is trans, it is hard to find a place that is safe and affordable.
The class I frequent Wednesday nights is my own slice of heaven once a week. It resets me and I feel like life is a bit more manageable. Nina is my #1. I’ve tried at least two other instructors and I don’t feel as safe or cared for unless it’s her. She is hands-​down my ideal instructor. And it’s not like I’m getting special treatment, either. She makes sure everyone in her classes is comfortable and in a position that is best for them. One other instructor in particular wasn’t in the mood to adjust me and was getting frustrated with my n00b-​ness, which left me feeling really crappy. I thought an instructor would get excited about having someone new and introducing them to yoga… but maybe that’s just wishful thinking.
So as much as I hate to say it because I want enough space to spread out in my evening class, Nina is it. She is a treasure at this studio and she is the reason I keep coming back. A++

Fantastic place! This is like the fifth yoga studio i tried in the past year and they are by far the best!
The teachers are fantastic! They are very welcoming, kind, knowledgeable and they take yhe tome to explain and go through the students during class to help and correct.
I have a problem with hyper extension and Julia helped me understand how to position my hands and legs correctly, and all the other teachers put an amphasys on it.
It is a very warm and intimate place.

I have never written a Unilocal review or even had an account until now.
But I was so motivated by my experience at Rising Lotus Yoga last December that I had to express myself in a forum so others can be aware what a horribly run business this is.
Mt experience is simple. I went to one class. I went to take another class. Upon leaving my house to go to the studio my wife gave me an Xmas gift of a Groupon for a certain number of classes.
When I arrived at the studio I was excited because I was now able to start up my Yoga practice again after an injury. But my jovial mood was met with the snooty attitude of a young girl who identified herself only as a volunteer. She was swift to tell me that my Groupon was not valid and that I could not use it. When I asked to speak to the manager she looked at me with disdain. She called the manager and left him a message. When I expressed my displeasure and frustration at the situation she asked me to leave and barred me from taking the class.
I obliged the girl and left the building.
I just wanted to practice Yoga, not fight with some entitled millennial.
I wrote the owners and the manager. I did not hear back from them.
I own a business and I understand how important it is to take care of new customers and foster growth. Three days later I was contacted by the manager, I was not impressed with his, late call back, his unwillingness to honor my Groupon, negotiate with me, or try to make the situation right. Instead he emailed me a list of excuses of why they cannot help me.
The manager, Evan, flat out made me never want to set foot in that place again.
The fact that the owners did not contact me after phone calls and emails was weak.
I just wanted to practice Yoga, not engage in some petty squabble that could have been solved in a minute.
Rising Lotus should change its name to Sinking Impropriety.

Started back to yoga after being out of the loop for quite some time. I’ve landed at Rising Lotus and here I will stay. The attention to posture and keeping your body safe is paramount. If you want to have great workouts while learning and perfecting your practice, I highly recommend Rising Lotus Yoga!

I love how the classes are scheduled by levels! I particularly chose this place because they had beginner’s yoga, perfect for my husband and I.
They have mats, blankets, and all these different contraptions to help you with your poses. The instructor was great and she went around helping people perfect their poses. Even though it was beginner’s yoga, it definitely felt more advanced and it was a really good workout! I felt fantastic afterwards!

Love love love RLY. Been going on and off for 5+ years, and it’s always amazing. They’re are a beautiful community of very special people. I’ve been so moved and inspired by Nina and Claire and everyone, I now volunteer regularly (even tho I’m currently not attending classes regularly — I really gotta get back!!!). This yoga studio is like no other, and will not disappoint!

I did my first ever yoga class here. And I loved it. My first class with Nina took all the intimidation out. It’s been a few months now and I’ve tried classes with Rosanna Micki, Claire and Daniel and they are all excellent! I’ve progressed in my practice since they really do take the time to focus on correct alignment and breathing. I’ve done inversions that I never thought possible. Overall … It’s an excellent yoga studio… it’s spacious, parking is never a problem, and the atmosphere is very open and welcoming.

Discovered Rising Lotus on Classpass and it is now a local favorite. I have taken classes led by julia and maire-​rose. Although their teaching styles are fairly different, I have left both classes feeling rejuvenated and with greater mental clarity. I recommend Rising Lotus for beginners as well as advanced yogis who seeking a more mindful yoga experience.

The Rising Lotus yoga studio and instructors have made a definite impact on my life. I have been coming to classes here for about four months now and the change not only others have seen but I have seen in myself is incredible. I can’t say enough about how great this practice is. I have a sense of clarity and peace that I haven’t ever know myself to have, ever. I love it here and would recommend that everyone give this studio and their staff a chance to guide you to a place within yourself that you may or may not have ever knew existed. I love Rising Lotus. The new space is warm and welcoming along with both the teachers and the front desk people.
I’ve been taking yoga classes all over L.A. For well over ten years and Rising Lotus wins my vote. It is all of the things that I want in a studio, neighborhood/​community feel, friendly and intimate, yet knowledgable in its instructors.
Claire is an amazing yoga teacher, I cannot say enough good things about her, Daniel is fabulous as well. In fact, I’ve never had a bad instructor there. If your looking to expand or even begin your practice I recommend Rising Lotus.

I’ve been coming to Rising Lotus Yoga on and off for several years — both in the old space and the new! I have loved every class and teacher I’ve had! I have done classes with Jay (Iyengar) as well as flow classes (Vinyasa) with several different teachers, and I’ve never been disappointed. The teachers are educated, are supportive, and make you feel comfortable playing!
I would definitely recommend this studio to anyone interested in a new practice, or deepening one you already have!

I had a surgery a couple of months back and was advised not to participate in anything physical. I am so grateful for Groupon or else mom and I wouldn’t have the blessing to discover this beautiful cozy gem in the valley. I was a bit nervous at first because I didn’t know anything about this place and therefore the first class could be the last. First impression is usually right and today was our third class with Patrick Sperry. This is LA and there are numerous yoga instructors around but less than a handful of teachers, if that, that I can honestly say who truly stand for what yoga means. There are many teachers whom I have taken who loves to recite quotes from the scriptures and there’s nothing wrong with that but what’s the point if they don’t walk the talk? Thank you Pat for simply being the beautiful soul and teacher that you are and the Love-​Patience-​Compassion-​Adjustments-​Support that you consistently giving regardless of how many there are of us You made sure each and every one of us is aligned correctly, having fun, and feeling great afterwards. Thank you for sharing the gift of you and creating this safe and sacred space for us. I have learned so much from your class and looking forward to many many more. Thank you :-)

Epitome of what I believe yoga should be like. I love the sense of calmness here. I’ve been to a class with 3 people to almost 20 people. Still had the same calming effect on me. Instructors are amazing. Still impressed at how Lindsley was able to adjust me multiple times in such a large class. Glad I found this place!

I just moved to the Valley from West Hollywood and was looking for a yoga class that I could do on this side of the hill that compared to my Brentwood and Beverly Hills yoga studio. I am so grateful and happy I came across Rising Lotus Yoga. It is by far one of the best yoga studios I have ever been to and I have been to A LOT! The studio is beyond clean the staff is beyond helpful and kind! Oh and parking is a breeze! If you need a yoga place this is the place to go!!! And if you can take Lindsley’s class she is beyond!!!

Rising Lotus Yoga’s new location was certainly worth the wait. The space is as warm and welcoming as the Instructors. The studio’s atmosphere is calm and genuine, a haven to practice Yoga. The parking is easy, free and there is plenty.
I have now experienced classes taught by Claire, Daniel, Julia, Nina, Micki and Lindsley and am now members of all their fan clubs.
Julia Frodahl is knowledgable, calming, and has a serene energy that I wish was contagious. She is warm and encouraging. She is plethora of information, grace and experience. Her classes are challenging though she guides every student into the adjustments they personally need.
Daniel Stewart’s style will grab your heart while expanding it. He is kind, spiritual, playful, knowledgeable and funny. You don’t attend his class… you experience his class and each class is a new and different experience. Attending Daniel’s classes, you feel like you belong. He encourages each student to challenge themselves in a way that is just ‘Daniel.’ He is knowledgable and passionate which is contagious.
Lindsley Allen is another jewel. She is spiritual, unique, graceful and fresh. She plays great music and helps each student maximize their practice looking within. Her classes are a perfect blend and I wish she taught more often.
Nina has a fantastic attitude and a lust for life that shows in each and every class. She is passionate and patient, clearly loving what she does.
Micki is high energy, her classes fun and intense. Her classes tend to be advanced though she will happily modify poses for anyone at anytime. Her restorative classes on Sunday evenings are perfect to relax and re cooperate. They are relaxing as can be and show just how versatile Micki truly can be.
As I mentioned previously, Claire’s classes have you feeling like you are in a spiritual center. Her classes address heart and soul. She is gentle yet firm, ALWAYS
checking each student’s alignment and breathing. This is astonishing as her classes are packed. I learn something new in each class and as often as I attend that is something.
Rising Lotus is a studio that truly offers real Yoga not Yoga-​ish exercise.
It is the best of the best and that is coming from an extremely selective critic… I mean Yogi.
Rising Lotus Yoga has a bevy of attentive and talented instructors which is why I felt compelled to address those whose classes I attend regularly.
If you can’t find a Yoga instructor at Rising Lotus whose class you want to attend, you can’t be pleased!

We with my friend Zhanna try to come to the studio more and more. All staff are very helpful, good instructors, place is clean and beautiful. We love Julia classes. Her classes are everything you would want in yoga. Appreciate this studio.

Best Yoga studio in the Valley. Great teachers and very warm and welcoming community of yogis. Awesome for beginners and challenging for advanced practitioners. Beautiful location.

When I bought a series earlier this year, I did not anticipate the constant disruption with moving, and the new studio not being ready. I’m writing this review because the new studio STILL isn’t ready.
It’ll be closed two mornings this week as has happened week upon week. While I was sympathetic with the problems opening the new studio, this has reached the point where I’m nothing but frustrated.
I did not want to practice in a windowless room on carpet. I did not enjoy practicing where the walls were open and dust was everywhere. I can’t practice in a place with closings only some of which we’re warned about.
Even one of the people who works the desk says that they haven’t been able to take the classes they’ve wanted due to the disruption, and strongle recommended I go to another studio. I’m taking their advice.
FYI, I did ask for a refund, but was refused. I can not wait to finish out my classes, but will never come to this studio again, nor recommend it.

LOVE this studio! I’m a beginner who had never taken classes consistently before; Nina is a wonderful instructor who made me feel comfortable from day one. Really enjoy all of the options they provide, the classes are challenging and welcoming for all levels, and the new studio space is great!

I moved east. Had to leave Inner Power in Woodland Hills which I loved. Thought I could never be happy with another yoga studio. Rising Lotus has been wonderful. I have probably experienced at least 8 instructors, and they were all good. Can’t wait to move to new studio upstairs. It looks beautiful.

Excellent Instructors and great new location! I am partial to Micki’s classes, but all of the classes I have taken at this studio have had solid, knowledgable instructors. Caters to all levels, I am pretty advanced but with injuries and the teachers give variations for newer students, more advanced students and those with injuries. Great studio. Try it!
