Mega Group Builders

These guys are horrible. They spent three weeks doing electrical work, they did it completely wrong and made giant mess. They sent out different crew and they did work correctly but took a month to correct the work they had done incorrectly, so a job that should have taken a week took almost two months.
Part of my contract was they would repair our air conditioner. It worked one time. I have called five times and they told me they would call back to set up appointment. They never call back. Do not trust this company.

This is the worst company I have ever work with and I would give them zero stars if I could!!! I bought a deal through Angie’s list for 4 hours of handy man services through this company that they never honored! I was contacted by Nikki who quickly scheduled someone one to come out and see the scope of work but after that they quickly became a nightmare to deal with! They rescheduled, rescheduled several times, two of which they just never showed up for!!! After the last no show Nikki stopped answering my calls and wouldn’t return any of my messages. I called again today to try and schedule one last time, why I don’t know, and she told me that they are having so many problems that Angie’s list is refunding people’s money and that I should call and get my money back! Another lie!!! Angie’s list will give me credit but because this company jerked me around for more than 30 days I can’t get a refund! NEVER USE THIS COMPANY!

I highly recommend this company! They did such a great job building my outdoor deck. It’s GORGEOUS! Everyone I spoke to was extremely responsive and helpful. My family will be heading back to Cali for summer in a couple of days so we will be spending every day on this deck. Thank you for dealing with all my crazy questions! :)

If you call for an estimate, just know that they’re going to consider the appointment nonexistent until they call to confirm with you one hour before the appointment. I was out to breakfast and didn’t hear my phone when they called at 9:10 am to confirm my 10 am appointment. I called them back at 10:05 am, after realizing that I missed their call, and had to wait for their contractor until 11:30 am before he finally showed up. There went my morning. Interestingly enough, the contractor told my husband that he liked working in our area because people were more laid back and if projects took a few days longer than expected, they were forgiving of it. Right…
But, all in all, he was a nice enough guy. The «estimate» was clearly an upsale and he didn’t have a ladder so he couldn’t get into our attic. He continued to suggest things I wasn’t interested in or even asking him about, bless his heart. His *partial* estimate was thousands of dollars higher than other bids which were made by contractors who had been in the attic.
MGB’s contractor eventually offered me a line of credit and discounts on their services for good online reviews. No thanks. I’m taking my business elsewhere.

I purchased a Groupon. After a visit from one of their reps doing all he could to sell me more services, I went to book the job. It took three weeks to schedule a time. I was perplexed at the difficulty in doing this simple booking. The gentleman who did the job showed up three hours late. He was very nice. And he worked hard. But he got paint on some of my furniture and on my carpet. And the paint job was sloppy. He didn’t finish. (He also stayed four hours past the time he said he would have the job completed. I was late to an evening engagement because he was still here at 7pm.) There were spots around outlets, etc. that he left undone. Also, in one room. it needed another coat of paint — I can still see the underlying paint. So I wasn’t too happy. To their credit, they followed up to see how it went. When I told them, they said they’d get right back. No call back. After a week, I called and someone was supposed to call me back. After another week, I called again and someone was to call me back right away. Two weeks later now and still no call. Very frustrating. I got my rooms painted for a good price, but I wouldn’t do it again.

I had purchased a deal on groupon to paint my living room and kitchen area. I had done enough research to know that companies use the groupon deals to sell their services (they really don’t make money off the coupon), so I was prepared to discuss additional prices and know the project price range.
My project manager was Ben S and he really was fantastic. He was caring, forthright and professional. I appreciated that we could speak candidly and he really wanted to help me realize my vision and within my budget. In fact, I was so thrilled with the result of my living room and kitchen (the popcorn ceiling was removed in addition to the paint job, and all trims redone), I went ahead and requested additional work for all my other rooms and painting the exterior. The folks who worked for Ben were courteous and professional. They didn’t hesitate to ask questions and gave me choices to consider before moving forward. And Ben was on site nearly every day. One of the nicest part of the work was they they sealed off rooms and area to minimize debris and I didn’t have to move my own furniture! This allowed me to continue residing at home and not incur additional costs of moving out.
All the work was done on budget and within a day of the quoted schedule. I could not be more thrilled with Ben and the completed work. I will use them again for future work! Thank you!

The demolition and the creation of our large linen closet out of our 2 smaller closets and alcove as well as installation of shoe racks in our coat closet went extraordinarily well. We are extremely pleased. Owner Koby Weiss was quite attentive to our needs and made the long drive out to Artesia from Sherman Oaks on a number of occasions to not only give us the estimate, but also take the time to give detailed information to his crew. Koby also assigned us Supervisors Iter and Arthur, who made the time to drive out and review the work in progress as well as examine the finished project.
As for the crew who did all the hands-​on work, Eric, Josuea, and a third crew member, they were fantastic! They were professional, courteous, and incredibly detail-​oriented. Eric headed the team and we cannot say enough wonderful things about his professionalism, courtesy, and incredible patience with us. He really made the great effort to go the extra mile for us. It was such a delight having Eric and the crew work on our house.
We were also very impressed as to how the manager, Dean, would call us occasionally to see how we felt about the progress and if we had any issues to discuss.
Though the price of the work was a bit high, we understood that Koby is very abiding by rules and has overhead costs to cover. The fact that they accept credit cards was also a bonus for us. We could have gone with a cheaper contractor without a license, but why take the chance?
We would definitely recommend Mega Group Builders to friends and family, and we would definitely hire them again.

My wife and I were looking for a good contractor to redo the stairs in our home. After reading many reviews we decided to go with MGB. We worked with Ben, and Dean who are managers there,. We were told that the project would be completed in 1 day. It took slightly longer because materials needed to be ordered. Aside from the project not completing at the scheduled end date, we are happy with the work that was completed. Ben kept us informed during the process and also involved Dean to make sure that everything went smoothly. I would recommend using MGB, as my wife and I will for our up and coming projects.

Me and my wife were looking at remodeling our home after we been living in at for over 6 years. Going through meeting 4 contractors. we decided to do the project with kobi from mega group builders. kobi is amazing he guided us through everything design plans and the professionalism was outstanding through out the all project. We couldn’t ask for anything better we love our new home thank you so much Kobi and mega group builders. Highly recommend to everyone.

I am very happy with the completion of our kitchen. My wife and I were very particular in the design and very hands on with the process but Kobi the manager was on top of his work! Thank you guys and we will see you on our next project!

Used a Groupon for one room today ($ 89)… I feel like we got what we paid for. The painting job was nice, for the most part. The cleanup was messy, however.

Terrible! They have a deal running on Groupon fot $ 89. For one coat of paint. They came by the house and I wanted to know if can do my room. My room is pretty small. And they quoted me at $ 1100 for one small bedroom. Are they crazy? Here I am trying to get a good deal on Groupon and they try to upsell you on stuff that you do not need. How did $ 89 turn into $ 1100? I declined the $ 1100 paint job and said I only wanted the $ 89 basic Groupon deal and they said «Ok fine, but I can’t guarantee a good job. I’ll have the associate call you to schedule.».I never got a call! They were terribly rude too! Stay away from these people. They will come and waste your time giving you a BS quote and act rude to you.

These people don’t even deserve 1 star! They actually send their contractors to San Francisco, CA where my mother lives to do their work! In the process, they have taken advantage of my elderly mother, forced her to open a line of credit to pay for a portion of the remodel, and then did not follow through with the contracted work. When you try to contact customer service, the phone number listed in the previous Unilocal complaint by Slice A. dated 1÷31÷14 doesn’t work and there is no such person as Allie Campbell! Note: (877) 231‑7389 and (818) 616‑2049 are the correct numbers. I have subsequently learned the office manager’s name is Adam Vaknin. Not once did the staff mention the 20% senior discount advertised on Angie’s List, the
5% discount on jobs over $ 10,000, the Groupon $ 89 for $ 400 painting deal, or the Facebook $ 4999 kitchen cabinet offer to my mother who lives on a fixed income! Don’t let this company take you for a ride the way they did my mother. Believe the negative reviews and run the other way!

Without question this is a 5-​star organization. Quality people, quality workmanship and outstanding customer service. Mega group builder is simply the best at what they do. Trust your home and the improvement you want to make Mega group builder! Mega group builder came up with a design for our kitchen that matched our style and needs while staying within budget and completed on time. Koby and his team are professional and knowledgeable. We are very satisfied with Mega group builder and Construction and highly recommend them to other homeowners!!!

Very disturbing experience. This company couldn’t get the appointment time right. Finally they rep showed up in dress clothes, completely shocked that I’d asked for attic insulation estimate. He couldn’t inspect the area. He asked if my Craftsman was built in the 60s. (Wow, do you know anything??)
He repeatedly insulted my home, made up BS about terrible problems it doesn’t have (it was just renovated, with permits). He wouldn’t answer my simple questions. He would change the subject and launch into stories of doom about «problems». This was clearly some crazy attempt at an upsell. He thought he was going to confuse me into major do-​overs.
I couldn’t get him out of my house which was very frightening. He insisted we sit down to discuss things — his company does EVERYTHING!!! On his phone, he looked up the price of my home and made more inappropriate comments. He also told me at length about his post-​traumatic stress from ⁹⁄₁₁ (so I’d feel sorry for him?).
i got up and told him to give me some kind of quote later. He WOULD NOT get up.
Thank God, another contractor knocked on my door. The Mega Group rep was glaring at me for tossing him out. He still hesitated leaving, like how could I do this to him? The smell of his cologne didn’t leave for a while, unfortunately.
I do have an alarm with a panic button. I would have used it if I had too. Very disturbing to made to feel so unsafe, alone in my own home.

I changed this review because they did not honor their warranty. Over something pretty small I might add. Their workers scratched up the only thing we didn’t demo, the cast iron tub. They promised they could reglaze it and it would be okay. It was not okay. It looks terrible and when I asked them to fix it, they refused. I wish I had forced them to replace it. My bad for trusting them At their word.

A friend recommended Danny and his team and we are very happy with his work. They fixed our roof, paved our backyard and put a safety shutoff switch on our gas line. All the work was done very efficiently and courteously, materials were good and prices were reasonable. Our only challenge was rain delays, and you can’t do too much about that!
