America’s Best Carpet & Air Duct Cleaning

I suggest in the strongest terms possible that you not patronize this business, America’s Best Carpet Cleaning. I have used them on three occasions and found that the quality of their service diminished each time I used them, to the point that I strongly encourage avoiding them at all costs.
The first time I employed them, a number of years ago, they did an average job on a home construction remodel with which I was involved. The carpet was practically new, so it didn’t take a rocket scientist to do a halfway decent job cleaning the carpet. The crew showed up on time, were friendly and communicative, and finished when they said they would. I used one of those Val-​Pak coupons that they send out, the same coupons referenced in a lot of the other reviews of this business.
The second time I used them was for carpet cleaning at a rental property that I owned. Again, they showed up on time, but this time they were a little less friendly, a little less communicative, a little less accommodating. They seemed to rush through the job with very little attention to detail. It took what seemed an inordinately long time for the carpet to dry, mainly because the carpet was very, very wet after the cleaning. Since this was a rental property and was not occupied, it wasn’t a huge deal to me, but a noticeable issue nonetheless.
The third time I used them was when the wheels came off and the train wreck ensued. The previously mentioned rental property was now on the market for sale. I needed the carpets cleaned in order to help the property show well. The two man crew showed up and proceeded to fly through the carpet cleaning. They ‘cleaned’ the carpet faster than I could have vacuumed the place. It took them longer to set up and dismantle their equipment than to clean the carpet. They must have been getting paid by the job, because it sure seemed to me that they were more concerned with getting to their next location than doing a good job for me. The result was that the carpets were left wet, there were pools of water on the hardwood floors adjacent to the carpeted areas, and the carpet did not appear to have been cleaned whatsoever. It was wet, though. Very, very wet.
Now the fun begins: I asked to have them bill me and I would send a check when I received the invoice, as was done the previous two times. The lead man of the crew says that they don’t bill people, never have. I tell him that I’ve been billed previously, twice, in fact. I explain to the lead man that the word ‘twice’ means ‘two times’. He says, ‘No way, dude’, or something close to that. He calls up the boss, a guy named Ty, and has Ty call me back. Ty calls me, Ty disputes the fact that I’ve been billed before. I tell him that yes, in fact, they have billed me and yes, I’ve paid them in full. Ty starts to get aggressive and threatens me with some sort of legal mumbo-​jumbo that he must have seen on TV late at night. At this point he was yelling at me over the phone. So, I have to drop what I’m doing at the property, run back to my office, write a check, arrange to meet the cleaning crew back at my property (I’m using the word ‘cleaning’ here very, very loosely), and completely disrupt about 90 minutes of my day because America’s Best Carpet Cleaning conducts business as if they are living in post-​World War I Germany. As I write this review I’m looking at their Val-​Pak flyer and nowhere – NOWHERE – does it state that payment is due at the time of the inferior cleaning service. The flyer also doesn’t have an address for the company, which I find curious. If I conducted business like these people, I wouldn’t want anyone to know where I was either.

To summarize: America’s Best Carpet Cleaning does not clean carpet very well. They are unprofessional. They are sloppy. The owner is a bully. Their business practices are stone-​age and heavy-​handed. They don’t know the meaning of the term ‘customer service’. They should be avoided AT ALL COSTS. Spend your money somewhere else. Please.
Postscript: My rental property sold, and sold quickly. The new owner was so appalled with the lack of cleanliness of the carpet that they had the carpet cleaned again. Thanks goes out to the real estate brokers in the deal because they picked up the tab for the new carpet cleaning, saving me from paying twice for the same service. Ty, if you’re reading this, thanks for nothing (and ‘twice’ means ‘two times’).

Horrid customer service. Never showed up and when I called he blamed me! What?! The window of time he was to show up was 2 — 4pm. When I called at 3:45 he said his trucks were done and that they couldn’t come out. Please don’t use this company.

I was looking for a carpet cleaning coupon, and I found one in the Val-​pack for America’s Best. In the ad, I saw they had a BBB accredited rating, so I went to BBB and saw an A– rating, which meant I was interested as the price was right and the coupon great. I then went to Unilocal,of course as I always do, and found much to my surprise, not the best ratings. I decided to give them a call and check it out. I talked to Ty, who was really nice, and he set me up to come out. They even have a Unilocal special, but I used the Val-​pack coupon.
Lawrence did the cleaning with David, and I am really happy with the cleaning. It cost me $ 178 for eight rooms and 12 stairs (the stairs are $ 2 a piece). They have other services which they try and sell, but I stuck with my coupon and stairs.
They were very efficient and it took one hour. I moved most furniture that I wanted moved, and they moved a few pieces as well.
They do a green chemical treatment first on bad stains, then a really hot steam clean. They hooked the water hose to my faucet outside and emptied dirty water into the truck tank. Their equipment was clean, and the carpet was just a little damp when completed. I have a cream colored carpet with pets, and the job they did cleaned well. I don’t expect brand new carpet when I get a carpet cleaned. Just a quality clean on an nine year old carpet. They called ahead and were on time. I am not sure what all the other reviews are about, but the BBB rating seemed most accurate. I would recommend asking for Lawrence to do your job. He was great. I will use them again. Carpet looks great.

DO NOT use horrible customer service as well as results. They did a very poor job they offer to come back to fix it they said no problem for an additional $ 30 and that the results will look the same don’t waste your time or money go with a better company. I just wish I had read the Unilocal reviews 1^st

Their flyer says they have a quick dry time which was one of the reasons I chose them but my carpet was SOAKED! I asked the tech and was told I should have specified I wanted the quick dry and they would have brought fans! He was very unconcerned about how wet they were and said I should set up some fans and with as hot as it is today, they should be dry in 6 – 8 hours! This is the main living area of my house and it is going to be virtually impossible to stay off the carpets for that long. It’s above 90 degrees but I had to turn off my AC and use all of my fans in the hopes of speeding of the drying time. Then within a couple of days, spots started to come back. I called them right away and was told they would discuss it in their morning meeting and call me back. Surprise, surprise — no return call! Finally got a hold of them today and was told they would charge me $ 29 to come back to re-​clean the spots! I should have spent the extra $ 50 and hired Stanley Steamer or Coit! Lesson learned!

This is the worst company everyone can imagine themselves dealing with. Not sure he is the owner or not, he basically hung up my call twice and the last one, told me rudely that he doesn’t want to service me, when I just politely ask him whether they are coming to my house to clean. I was told they put me down on a schedule, and he told me I am on a backlist.
Whoever use this company good luck, I don’t think they will be around long… and it is stupid for anyone to use them. It is stupid for me to call them twice…

Bad bad bad and poor professionalism.
Good things:
They showed up on time and called before arrival. They had their paperwork in order.
Bad Things:
They wanted to disconnect my washer and use that as a water source. I said that sounded weird (and it is in my bathroom, so I didn’t want that upset). I explained that I have had my carpets cleaned here before and the company did not use that water source. They called their boss and I couldn’t hear him on the phone very well. So we used a different phone. After I explained again (okay I was getting a ‘tude, it was 8am on a Saturday and my New Yorker came out) that I didn’t want to unhook my washer, the service man said I was wasting his time, that he could have been done by now, and that I was messing up his schedule. I said, go ahead and do it, I have the money and you can do what you need to do with the washer. He said $ 90 would not make a difference to the company and left. They didn’t even put my furniture back together.
BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE. Never never use them.

I found a coupon in Val-​pack for 3-​rooms at $ 68 and thought I would give them a try. We have two medium to large sized rooms, stairs and a tiny landing. They charged us the $ 68 plus stairs AND a fuel charge making it $ 118 total. They did a nice job and got up the stains but it ended up being close to what we pay at Stanley Steamer. Plus they did not move one piece of furniture. I wouldn’t expect them to move the really big things without me asking, but at least the small, light things.
If you can get a really cheap deal, it is worth it to try them. But it isn’t anything too exciting.

They published a coupon in the ValPak for $ 98 for 5 rooms up to 1300 sq. ft. OK. I told the person on the phone that I had an area rug that was the size of a one room and asked if that would count for one room. She asked the «boss» who OK’d it. Then, I said we really only had halls and a landing and no real rooms, but I would agree to pay the $ 98 as we needed some pet enzyme cleaner. There was no way the areas totalled up to 1300 sq. ft., but I was OK with that. The guys arrived an 1 ½ late and then looked around the house and came up with a $ 300 bill. I asked why. They said that they couldn’t count the area rug as a room. It had to be cleaned differently. I said that I have always had it cleaned the same as the rest of my rugs, as it is made of the same cut berber. They called the boss who «said they could cut the price to $ 222, at which point I asked to speak to him. After some difficulty he came back on the phone and was very discourteous, told me that he had explained on the phone that it would be $ 1.75−2.50 per sq. ft. to clean the area rug. I told him that I had not spoken to him at all, and the other person never mentioned this charge, but he insisted that I had. After some discussion and insults, he said if I didn’t like it they would leave. So they did. I called Best carpet service and had a great no hassle service the following day. I gave the cleaner a good tip. This company will not stay in business with this type of customer service.
