Shawnee Inn and Golf Resort

Very disappointed in my stay here. Paid for a room that was not cheap and was put in a building that felt like an outhouse because of several weddings that were being held.
The front desk worker, Patricia, flat out lined when inquired about the hotel’s «passport promotion.» Rather than admit she wasn’t familiar with it, she told me this was a discount on the purchase of a U.S. passport. Upon further inquiry, she kept this story up and mentioned discounts offered by airlines. The manager was also rude and short with me. Overall, the staff seemed focused on the concerns of the wedding group at the expense of my stay.

It has been one month since my horrible stay and despite the manager saying he «will reach out privately,» I haven’t heard a thing from anyone. He was rude and dismissed my questions and value as a customer in the hotel lobby. I didn’t expect there to be any genuine concern now either. Clearly every response about «reaching out» is false and a line to improve the hotel’s quickly deteriorating reputation as demonstrated by recent reviews.

Waste of a beautiful building and scenery. We stayed here for one night because we wanted to go to Bushkill Falls, not that far up 209. I had some very important work to do at 4:00 p.m., which was check-​in. I got there early, figuring that if I didn’t get into the room early, I would be there at 4:00 when I needed to. At 4:12 they told us the room would be 10 more minutes. At 4:25, still not ready. 4:35 we went up to the desk (despite sitting in front of it the whole time) and it was ready.
We finally get into the room (I’m late for what I needed online at this point) and it was disgusting. I’ve never seen blinds in a hotel room before. They were caked with dirt. Run your figure along almost anything and it would turn black. I did not stop sneezing the entire time I was in the room. It was so bad I left in search of medicine and had to pay a lot because I had to find a Wawa in East Stroudsburg to find DayQuil and Claritin.
When I went hiking all day outside, I was fine.
Pub was nice, brewery was nice, atmosphere was beautiful — just don’t stay in one of their rooms. Room price was decent enough, but I would happily pay more for a clean one.

BEDBUGS! We checked out early and told them and they still charged us!!! DON’T STAY HERE!!!

Stayed here for a golf weekend with my fiancé. The course was mediocre, but incredibly overcrowded. A literal shooting gallery. …and that was the best part.
The room was tiny (like NYC boutique hotel small) and very dated. Looks like it hasn’t been updated since the 50’s. …and that was the second best part.
The food was absolutely horrendous. BBQ turkey was dry and smothered in too-​sweet BBQ sauce. Braised short rib tacos were dry and chewey, like beef jerky. Veggie pizza, covered with sauce and 6 different kinds of vegetables, miraculously, had NO flavor. How’s that even possible?
As if the food quality wasn’t enough, the service was even worse. Our waitress dropped our meals, checked on us 4 minutes later, then apparently moved to California. We had to walk the check up to the register. Breakfast service at the little coffee place in the lobby was equally poor. One waitress, no help, totally swamped. She said her boss, who usually helps her out from 7 – 10 AM called off at the last minute. Her BOSS! Called off!
Do yourself a favor and stay somewhere else, and eat somewhere else. Consider yourself warned.

The worst hotel experience I’ve ever had. The front desk messed up my reservations and bill. I was there as part of a bridal party and was forced to leave the bridal photo session to fix these mistakes. The woman at the front desk was extremely rude and unapologetic about it.
Additionally, the shower in my bathroom seemed very DIRTY. The shower head had mineral deposits and the floor was slimy and had strange stains. Overall, the room is pretty basic and not worth the bloated price of the hotel.
Also, I was charged an unauthorized and unexplained separate charge to my credit card. When I called the hotel, they told me that it was a pending charge and that it was because I booked through an outside website. I was told that the charge (which was more than the cost of the room) would not go through. However, two days later the charge did go through. So, I have been playing phone tag with them to resolve this issue ever since.
Basically, I was double charge for my room and treated rudely. If I could give zero stars I would. Again, worst experience I’ve ever had with a hotel.
Edit: If anyone is wondering… No, no one ‘reached out to me’ regarding these issues as stated in their response.

Not a great place to vacation with children. Unless you play golf there is limited things to do for families. The activities they do offer are really expensive per person. You are not permitted to walk around the property as it is a golf course. The river is not safe for children to swim in. To rent a raft to float down the river they charge $ 40/​person. The service is average, not very hospitable.

We just had our wedding at the Worthington Ballroom 6−6 – 15.ceremony held outside by the lawn and lake background. Everything was amazing.
My hair was done downstairs at the salon by Tina who always cuts my hair too so it was great as she did my makeup as well… light and simple.
Our room was located next to the desk… room 101… updated flat screen and large room… strangely we couldnt hear anything as some reviews says theyd hear noises… we didnt and enjoyed our stay.
The staff goes above and beyond… from the café to the river room to the staff at the desk… what stands out is the next morning as we leave attendants sweeping or cleaning windows are quick to say hi.
Our wedding planner Simone worked well with my dj and emcee… she went above and beyond to make sure everything was what we wanted… she made sure the ceremony and reception was perfect. even though our wedding party was small it paid off with the breathtaking sceneries. Rob the manager always makes sure we are taken care of…

The Shawnee Inn is a beautiful hotel with great landscapes. The staff was extremely friendly upon our arrival, and the staff was really knowledgable about local attractions and restaurants (we wound up at the nearby brewery and went hiking at Bushkill Falls).
The really big negative for me was with the room itself. When we arrived, I decided to upgrade our room so that we could have a jacuzzi suite, just to treat us to something special. We came during the off-​season, and the staff told us that the place was basically empty, yet they still put us in the room on the first floor right by the office. Not much privacy, as we could hear people in their on the phone through the walls, and I’m sure they could hear us too. Not that romantic.
The WORST part was, when we returned from our hike and from dinner, we discovered that a PROM or something was happening right beneath our room. It was mind-​numbingly loud, the bass was shaking the room. On top of that, all of the teenagers were congregating on the line right underneath our window. We had to hear their high-​pitched, screechy voices well past midnight. Again, not romantic. Considering that I had paid an extra $ 75 for the upgrade (during the off-​season), disappointment is sort of an understatement. By the time the party was over, we were so annoyed with the situation, we just wound up going to sleep.
All that being said, it is the nicest hotel in the area. I do love the pillow menu and the cute plant with a story! Also, the staff. That is why I’m keeping the points so high. The staff was just really great. Very patient.
We just booked a room there for tomorrow night using our credit card points. I’m crossing my fingers that our experience will be much nicer, that there won’t be a loud party right beneath our feet, and that we won’t be within 10 feet of the lobby. I want to love this place, as we live in NYC and would love to return often (b/​c it’s so close).
Please, Shawnee Inn, help me love you!

I loved how it reminded of the shining but that is as far as it goes. The hotel rooms are small and overpriced. The power went out for 8 hours. I know they have no control but the staff was obnoxious. The hotel offered nothing. When we came back from the outage my sons bed items were missing and were found in the hotel ‘s storage closet WTF. Someone got stuck in the elevator and when I took it later it smelled like puke. The room was hot and the AC did not work. The dead bolt, door chain and the phone did not work. We will NEVER go back and we will only go to Marriotts and Hiltons. This is a bad place to spend a vacation for 2015

The Shawnee Inn and Golf Resort was a nice quiet and peaceful overnight getaway for us! The inn is absolutely charming, though a little dated. I didn’t mind because I appreciated the history of the place. Historical photographs adorn the walls. The place really does have a rich history and you can tell that they take pride in it. The furniture and décor is really neat, a lot of it Asian inspired it seems. The room was nice, again bathroom was dated but had a window in it which was refreshing. Breakfast at the River Room was great, and the little coffee shop and bakery was a favorite. You can sit in there or outside on the deck and read and enjoy your coffee. Everyone was very friendly and the service good. We went to the Gem and Keystone for dinner which wasn’t the fanciest (we were looking to have a nice dinner for our anniversary) so you may have to drive to find a classier restaurant. All in all, we got exactly what we came for which was some good R&R in a peaceful, beautiful but homey inn.

Getting ready to return to the Shawnee Inn next month, and I cannot wait! My first stay was this past summer, and the entire weekend was perfect. Firstly, I was completely stunned when my boyfriend surprised me upon checking in and said that our room at the main inn had been upgraded to the Worthington Suite — way to make our first trip together memorable right off the bat! The suite was so luxurious and spacious. There were even fresh cookies (I would go back just for these cookies… amazing) and beer waiting for us when we walked in the door.
We had plans to venture into town, but we never left the resort because there was just so much to do — indoor swimming, stand up paddle boarding, brewery tour, driving range, fire pit with s’mores at night, golf cart tour, nature walk, spa. The Gem and Keystone was awesome — great food, and I loved that the strawberries in my salad and mojito were grown in the inn’s garden.
I think the Shawnee Inn will become a yearly tradition for us — can’t wait to return!

In the ceiling above my room on the 3^rd floor, is the generator that controls the central air system for the whole hotel. So it’s constantly humming and vibrating. I called downstairs and they sent a cowboy up but he didn’t give a shit. He told me nobody in the history of the hotel has complained about it. This hotel is old and shabby. They think their highest achievement is just that they’re still in business after 100 years. Yikes. You can tell from the cheap furniture. The worn out carpeting. Everything. The staff need hospitality lessons. They are disengaged. Nobody helps you bring your luggage in from the car. Or take it to your room. The housekeeping staff barely straighten your room. The walls and doors are so thin and so there’s so much noise from the halls. The pool isn’t heated enough. I gave this hotel a one star and that’s only because the woman at breakfast making omelettes is sweet and knows how to make an omelette. But that’s it. The public toilets aren’t clean. The pool changing room isn’t clean. The jacuzzi is luke warm and frothy. Obviously it needs more money than it’s making. And so nobody seems to care. And it’s not a cheap hotel.

We didn’t stay at the hotel here, but my wife had a conference here so we were here every day for a week. The staff was super helpful and the food and drinks were really good. I would suggest not looking at the close-​up pictures, because they are deceiving. The place is old, but it’s got character. They have a bunch of little cabins around and a nice tennis court and golf course. The view from this place is amazing. So much so that there were a number of folks having their weddings there during our stay. Oh, and they had a nice bonfire every night which made it for me.
As an aside, if you want some good food, there’s some diners down the street that serve really good food for cheap

Really old world — so much so that the TV’s still have tubes! Badly run — our restroom had used shampoo! Room was so small that we could not fit our bags in — finally I had to go and request that even if I have to pay I need to move (despite us reserving a room for 2 adults + 2 kids) finally got the agent to move me to a room for an extra charge with. Kitchenette — a kitchenette with a dishwasher but no dishes! My grandma had more modern cabinets and stove! The property doesn’t seem like it’s ever maintained — old carpets, hot tub has patches of paints missing, even all the room doors do not match! Actually the pool is out of code it doesn’t have disabled access.
The one saving grace — Eric the doorman — nicest guy who already knows you are going to be disappointed and tries and help us — he was who convinced the front desk woman to have us move — because he said he can see we can’t fit in the room she gave us — he said she is going to unfortunately want to charge you but I want you to be comfortable and he added tomorrow the river is going to be gor

Smells like smoke, $ 162.00 for one nights stay and not even breakfast is provided. Room was cold, my wife and I were uncomfortable most of the night. Oh, and they couldn’t provide us with a single bed to sleep in. So if you’re into the 1940’s sleeping arrangements then this place is great. I’d give it a negative rating if it was possible.

Shawnee Inn is a great place to just relax, golf, ski, or participate in activities or just discover the Pocono area from this historic Inn directly on the Delaware river.
The restaurants there are great with delish food & and the service is very good.
They even have an organic farm and brewery right there.
The coffee place is really nice to grab a snack or just sip a drink on the porch.
They just need to add a few healthy options with the food.
The room had I had was large with great windows, perfect bedding and comfortable on the 2^nd floor. The room was a little dated and needed a touch up in the carpet dept.
and on a really hot day the air conditioner could have worked a little better to provide more cold air. But the great plus is you can sleep with the windows open on a cool night with fresh country air.
I really like Shawnee Inn and plan to return soon.

We stayed at a suite room in Worthington and loved it as it’s a newer building and beautifully decorated. The woman attending to the front desk and the service provided by them was subpar. The woman checked us into another guests’ room and was not the least bit concerned about the mixup when we came back to her to get the correct keys and room info as we walked into someone else’s room with double beds. Shouldn’t that be a security issue? I would be pretty upset if I was that guest.
After she re-​did our check-​in, she was about to send us on our way when the gentleman working the desk chimed in to give us details to get to our room. Wow, if we walked away without his info, we would’ve never found the room. She told us Room 605 or something like that. Let me tell you, this number is so far off from what we were supposed to look for. Maybe it’s an internal reference # for that room. The gentleman told us it actually is Worthington house, and the sign says 2 East. Granted we had a map she gave us, but imagine how difficult it is looking for a room # that is not even on the door or building!
The housekeeping staff was very good but we did have to call the front desk to ask for towels as they forgot to put any in the room. The location is great to Shawnee slopes. I’d recommend Worthington to people at 4 stars rating but took off 1 star for the poor staff at the front desk. I can’t vouch for any of the other rooms but from the other reviews, I’d be careful of which room I was booking.

«The Shining» popped into our minds as we pulled up, given the massive hotel exterior and winter setting, but turndown service with free cookies soon won us over. I would give 3.5 stars if possible.
This hotel isn’t new and shiny, but it’s clean and holding up MORE than reasonably well for being over 100 years old. The big porch with rocking chairs is lovely. The place is steeped in history; old photos throughout show visitors, such as Bob Hope, and the PGA Championship has been held here.
The staff is quite friendly. Free winter activities include nature walks, s’mores by an outdoor fire, archery, a play at a nearby playhouse, a piano player in the main lobby, a very small on-​site brewery, etc.
While my Verizon voice signal was very low, their free WiFi signal was strong.
We received excellent massages — probably some of the best we’ve had — at the on-​site spa on a buy-​one-​get-​one deal and the indoor pool is very big; there’s also an indoor jacuzzi.
The on-​site restaurants didn’t wow us. I asked for my burger well done and my friend asked for hers medium; they both came out well done. I asked for my fries extra crispy; they were kind of floppy. The food brings down my rating.
As we were here during the down season and there were other available rooms, I wish they had given us a room that wasn’t surrounded by children on all sides. We were awakened many days at 6 a.m. to children literally running and screaming through the halls; their parents said nothing. You can hear every word loud and clear in between the walls. This also brings the rating down a bit. But the beds are VERY comfy.
All in all, this is a great place to stay if you just want to drop off the grid and partake in outdoor activities. If you’re expecting to stay at the W Hotel in the middle of the woods, this isn’t it.

Shawnee Inn is really beautiful. My friend and I bought a 3 day ski package deal here that included breakfast every morning.
The breakfast buffet was great — scrambled eggs, omelet station, pancakes, waffles, amazing bacon, sausage, biscuits and gravy, breakfast potatoes, coffee, orange juice, oatmeal, cereal, etc. It would’ve been more exciting if there were a few special items made each morning because by the third morning the same layout and food preparations were a bit boring.
Though it is a bit stuffy, the staff and environment is very friendly. There were multiple weddings each night. There’s also an awesome brewery right next door, which is a really fun hangout!
My complaints are that they didn’t replace our sheets with fresh ones every day, the TV didn’t have on demand and was very old equipment, and they didn’t stock the rooms with shampoo and conditioner (but it was available upon request).

My boyfriend and I stayed for two nights in a king room this weekend to just get away and relax. It was a last minute switch of hotels.
Last year we stayed at the Days Inn, and it was honestly night and day… like we were in a different world almost. Which was nice and annoying at the same time. Felt alittle out of place, like we weren’t snooty enough to be there.
The room was clean and the bed was amazing. Only down fall we found a tick in our bath tub. Which isn’t so horrible we are in the woods, but not something you want to see.
The staff was very friendly and went out their way to help us with anything we needed. With the exception of the buffet manager. We got quite a bit of attitude when we questioned by the buffet charge was different on Saturday and Sunday.
Kayaking– We usually use a company up the road… but were enticed by the fact we didn’t have to leave the property. So we decided to go with the Shawnee Inn River Trips. We called the front desk to make sure we didn’t need reservation, they said no just show up 15 minutes prior. That’s what we did, we were told we needed reservations when we arrived??? Ugh annoying… they told us we would have to wait an hour for the next available spot. Realizing we were alittle annoyed they decided to allow us to take of from the hotel and pick us up down river.
The best part for me… the fire pit. They lit it around 6pm. You can bring a bottle of wine and just relax around the fire pit and listen to the river go by and forget what time it is.
