My girlfriend & I had a fantastic time here! The couple that own the place are great, and they let us drive a tractor, an old farm jeep, and feed & pet all the animals, plus explained lots of interesting things about farming to these city slickers. The farm house itself is very nice, with a well-appointed kitchen(if the chickens are laying, you get some farm fresh eggs with your stay too, and maybe some homemade jam.) The farm is in the heart of Skagit Valley, with other farms & outdoors activities nearby(e.g.: North Cascades National Park.) This was a wonderful experience(and rates are currently off-season as of October; an incentive to brave the weather!) (They also sell 100%-grass-fed beef directly to consumers, if you’re interested. We’re about to buy ¼ of a cow from them!)

This was one of the stops on a 2-week Washington dream vacation for our family(my husband, 9 year daughter, and I) and I believe that it really was the best part of the vacation. Farmers Terry and Jean have a farm in a beautiful location of Skagit Valley, Washington. The farmhouse is a 3BR, 1BA with a spacious kitchen and living room. Terry and Jean come to the farm each day to feed the animals and take care of other chores. You can participate in the chores(as much or as little as you like) or you can sit and relax(it is totally up to you!). We participated in as much as we could and it was a fantastic experience(note that we didn’t help Farmer Terry clean out the dung from the barn, but he was totally«ok» with that!!!). Each day, we helped Terry move the chickens from the barn to their field coop,(and back), feed all the animals(pig, goats, donkeys, chickens, barn cats, dog, and steer), and move the irrigation water around. Three days before we arrived, a baby steer was born. Terry carried the baby out to the field with the mom(and us!) following closely behind. What a bonus!!! Jean took great care to ensure that the home has everything that you need for a stay at the farm, including fresh eggs and a washer & dryer,(a W/D is always appreciated on an extended vacation!). You can cook meals in the fully-appointed kitchen or go out to eat locally(we ate at the farm every meal except for one). We were planning to take some side-trips in the area, but we only went on 1 side trip — we just had so much fun with the animals and with Farmer Terry(Farmer Jean was away). My daughter loved playing with the goats and the chickens and I think she will remember this experience forever. My husband and I enjoyed talking to Farmer Terry about what it takes to run a farm and just things in general(he is a very interesting person!). And Terry and Jean take such good care of their animals that we really respected the work that they are doing(I am not a vegetarian, but I believe in treating farm animals with respect). I was happy that my daughter could see a farm where the animals were well-treated. Note 1: There is no tv or internet at the farm, but your cell phone should work just fine. Note 2: The well water has a lot of minerals(and sulfur) so there is a slight sulfur scent. However, I did not notice it on the clothes that I washed or after taking a shower. Also, plenty of bottled water is provided for your use while there. I highly recommend this and I am sure that we will go back to visit.
