The Video Store

I have fond memories as a kid, going to the local video store and renting movies. Moved here to Sebastopol not to long ago, and was happy to see a video store. Places like this are all but extinct. My son and I come here almost every Wednesday, he picks a movie and so do I. (he’s 5).
Sure it’s a lot easier to just stream a movie or download one, but the magic is lost that way. His place seems to always have the new releases in stock. The system they have makes it easy to find that old movie you haven’t seen in sometime. The staff is very friendly, they also have a nice sets of collectibles.

I too have had problems with scratched movies BUT they have always let me exchange it for a new one. They have never given me a hard time. Plus, it’s only been with the kids movies that I have had problems with scratches and I can understand why.
Just left the Store and they charged me an eight dollars cleaning fee for movies that were already scratched and skipping. I would be a little bit more understanding if they were new movies and we damage them but the fact that I’m constantly getting already damaged movies from that store that skip, and now they want to charge me eight dollars just to put the DVDs in a machine that cleans them for two minutes-I’m a little annoyed and probably won’t go back.

I’ve been going to The Video Store for nearly 6 years and admittedly, I haven’t been the most loyal customer (stupid Netflix,) but recently in the last few days I have had great conversations with the store owner each time I come in. You can tell she really knows her stuff and is anxious to suggest titles based on your interests.
I’m a self-​described movie buff of the nerdiest order and I just had an epiphany as I sit here watching «The Perks of Being a Wildflower». There’s something really great about going INTO a store and picking out a Blu-​ray. I have Netflix and every cable channel under the sun with endless access to just about anything I want to watch, but movie watching somehow becomes an event when you take the time to hand select your choice. It becomes special in its own way. I feel so lucky to have such a great store to accommodate these «events». They have everything you can imagine from cult to classic to obscure tv shows that you didn’t think anyone else but you watched. They even have a small selection of 3D titles. (Sadly, at this point I’ve seen them all!) I love this place! They’ll probably be seeing more of me from now on.

I love this video store! they have a great selection of films. always have the latest release new series before Netflix. The staff is friendly and helpful… they know me by sight which makes the feeling of doing business in a small town just the best… I find them to be reasonable and accommodating.

I have been renting movies from the video store for over 10 years. The staff is so knowledgeable and so willing to help me when I have a question. The store always has a great selection of the latest releases. I feel they are very reasonably priced and very friendly!
