After spending the day doing tastings along the coast and in the Russian River Valley, an industry party at McPfails was an interesting change of pace. The winery is in a converted industrial park that apparently used to be used for apple processing but is now a smattering of small businesses. MP had some good Pinots though I think I liked their Chardonnay the best. Normally a tasting there is $ 20 and naturally, they have a discount for club members and industry. The tasting room is fun and funky, we especially liked the dirt«installations» on the wall which show the various strata the the grapes you’re drinking grew in. Also, I liked the patchwork cowhide rug. They have different events on various nights. Pinot, pizza, and puzzles was one that caught my eye and also a blind tasting. Join the mailing list or keep an eye on their website to learn about their events. This seems like a happening place and their wines are moderately priced compared to most of the places we were earlier in the day. My friend remarked it was likely due to the location, since you’re not paying a premium for some awesome valley view or coastal view. And it’s easier to get to and you could take a cheap Lyft there, then grab dinner near by and get home really easy if you in or around Sebastopol. Worth checking out.
