Have shopped here just twice when passing thru Sebastopol(I live on the other side of Sonoma county). Store looks and feels like the love child of Community market and Oliver’s. Sincere homegrown, pride of ownership place. If I lived close by this would be my market rather than Whole Paycheck or Safeway.

This is my nearby neighborhood market. They have a good selection of products for the limited space. Over the last few months they have been offering fewer and fewer products for those of us who do not use meat/dairy/eggs. The vegan/vegetarian sections shrinks each week. Seems strange in such a progressive community that they would not carry more products and even less than they did 6 months ago. I’m now driving past Fircrest to find a store that carries my products. Sad.

I love Fircrest. They have a great selection of products and the people who work there are so nice and helpful. Their weekend BBQ is awesome as well! It has a nice small town feel to it that keeps me coming back.

I love this store. The owners are active and generous in the community and the clients and employees are just hard working local folks. I buy my prime rib here for Christmas dinner and it is always excellent. Good beer and wine selection. Alway very clean.

This is a nice convening market to go to, a little pricey but it’s perfect for something you need for dinner at the last minute. I do have a few complaints, they need to find room to put their lemonade instead of being stacked in front of an aisle. The other day I tried asking for help because the lemonade I wanted was stacked two cases under. Some guy came but he said I don’t own the store and would bring somebody, i waited 10 minutes and nobody showed.

I moved to Sebastopol from L.A. a few years ago and was initially put off by Fircrest’s small aisles and old fashioned look.(I was used to Gelson’s). Now I do 90% of my shopping there. The prices are great, with a shockingly broad selection for such a small store, they have the best produce in town, and I love the staff(shout out to Ken, Julio, Renee, and Maria!).

Quality produce and sometimes a better deal for healthier food than a regular grocery store. I would like to see the bread section get more attention though, I never buy my bread there because I never like any of the bread there… but everything else is fantastic!

This store has some great quality food and some very friendly staff, but the reason for this one star review is for the extremely poor service I received at Fircrest on my most recent visit. I have only been to this market three times as I just moved to the area, but it is right around the corner and the prices aren’t bad– so have found it very convenient. But, I am certain I will no longer come back to this store after this visit. The middle aged lady at the checkout line was actually the only rude person at this store I’ve run into, but my experience with her alone has been enough for me to share my experience. I was purchasing two bottles of wine along with about $ 50 worth of other groceries, and was asked to show my ID. I brought it out for her to look at, she glances at it with an odd expression and says I can’t get my wine there because it is out of state. Not only is this an extremely odd comment, but I had purchased wine twice at this market before-it was my only purchase the first time I went there, and have never had a problem. She also did not even look long enough to see my age at all, and that I am well over 21. I’ve not had a problem at any grocery or bar since being in CA, and if someone does seem unsure about it they grab their manager if they’re conflicted. This woman stashed my bottles away and just kept scanning my other items. I asked why and she said it was store policy, so I mention that I’ve purchased it there before with two other attendants and she has no comment. Does not offer to get a manager or anything, or even offer an apology– nothing. I was now in a rush to go find somewhere else to get my wine for my gathering, and didn’t care to stick around any longer. I wouldn’t have purchased my regular groceries there had I had the time to sit through another line at another store for it all either as annoyed as I was with the poor customer service, but was now strained for time. I planned on calling the store to speak with a manager after, but instead came home to find that she did not give me my receipt at all either, as I had asked for it in the bag. Very disappointed with this clerk, and hope this will be brought to someone’s attention and everyone there will be on the same page. Unfortunately will not be coming back to Fircrest either way though after this.

Now that I live in Sebastopol this is the only grocery store I go to. Their gluten free selection of food is phenomenal! I also like that it’s a local, family owned business. Staff is so nice and helpful. I love their selection of produce, ciders, frozen foods, and meat/cheese.

I shop here for most of my grocery needs. Small but well stocked deli & they make good sandwiches. Good meat and cheese selection, nothing super fancy– but they have the staples. Veg & fruit is consistently good. Decent beer and wine selection. I can get 95% of what my household needs here– and prices are very similar to elsewhere & certainly cheaper than WF. If I need hot deli food, hot soups, or salad bar ect– I need go elsewhere. Fircrest sourdough bread is the BEST. The checkers have very low turnover and the same faces are always there which is nice. Their paper bags are good quality, and handles don’t pull off like SF. Secret tip: if you like the fircrest sourdough and want it half cooked to bake at home– they sell it the way they get it– frozen, partially cooked to be warmed & browned in the over. Ask for it at the deli counter…

Stopped in to pick up some grilling supplies, which included a 6-pack of Fat Tire. Was told at checkout that they won’t sell to people with out of state IDs. How discriminatory — there are 49 other states, California!

Best independent locally owned grocery store in Sebastopol. Nice, friendly staff with good deli and reasonably priced sandwiches. Good steaks and cheese section. Fine wine selection and fruits and veggies. Nice mix of locally produced organic dairy, fruit and vegetables. Prices are on par with Safeway and certainly lower than Pacific Market and Whole Foods. Ample parking lot with outdoor chicken BBQ grilled. This is the store that locals attend.

This used to be one of my favorite grocery stores to shop at. Moving back to west county, I was excited to take a trip yo my old favorite! What a nightmare! From the extremely poor and overpriced selections to the snotty and unbelievably rude employees, I can safely say that I will never shop here again. Especially since I discovered the new community market. Talk about night and day! I would even shop at a chain grocery store over Fircrest after that experience. And that’s saying a lot for me. #overpriced #rude #nothankyou

Always friendly staff, great deals on meat & their produce department is the best in town for a grocery store. I dig the variety they offer & that they have smaller portion choices, don’t always need family pack size.

Fircrest is the best! I am lucky to live right down the road so I come here often. The staff is very friendly. The prices are great! It is just a good ol’ sebastopol grocery store. We love it! I do wish they would carry a few more specialized items… but I have never seen a suggestion box, I will be looking into that. Not sure they have the room to carry everyones«favorite item?» Overall, great, easy, affordable shopping with lots of organic choices as well! But bring a sweater or a jacket, for some reason it is always FREEZING in there!

I love this market. It is small, yet it has everything I need. As other reviewers say, they make great use of the space. The staff are all very friendly and they often fulfill requests to stock desired products.

I live right down the street within walking distance, and I come here often. I love the warm, fuzzy neighborhood feeling that I get from the place and the people that work there. I feel like I’ve come to know all of the employees, and that makes each experience unique and special. They carry a nice selection of produce, dry goods, beer and wine. They also have a nice variety of asian food products. I highly recommend getting your next sandwich from their deli as they have a beautiful selection of meats and cheeses, and they offer vegetarian options as well. It’s hard to find a grocery store that carries unique and delicious products, that is also reasonably priced. It’s a rare gem like Fircrest that does this and takes it a step further by hiring such a warm group of people who remember you when you return.

This place looks just like it did when I came here with my parents 30 years ago. And that along with a VERY friendly staff is why this is such a great place. And try the deli. Yumm

Sebastopol has quite a few grocery stores for such a small town, but Fircrest is definitely my favorite. It has a nice small town feel, and I love seeing the owner walking around every time I go shopping. It’s so much better than shopping at Whole Foods, Safeway or any other chain store(Go Local!) but it’s not overpriced like the other independent markets in town. They always have a great selection of organic veggies and healthy options, the meat and cheese departments are impressive, and their selection of local wines and food is awesome.
