I was unimpressed by the level of «service» in this shop. No acknowledgement of our presence, no offer to help. Owner or salesperson was too involved with the clique at the table, which did not appear to be a class, just women sitting and gossiping loudly. A real turn off. Very exclusive, downright snooty. The selection of yarn was okay, but nothing worth trying to get through the attitude there. Another shop in Sebastapol has a much nicer selection and much friendlier vibe, so that’s where I spent my vacation yarn funds. No affiliation, just a disappointed potential customer. Owner, take notice. Customers are getting turned off and you are losing income.

This review is long overdue. I absolutely love this shop, the overall feeling is so warm and welcoming, and the staff is amazing and very helpful. I went here for the Yarn Hop earlier this year, and the shop was packed with people. That did not stop the staff from coming by and checking in on us. The owner even suggesting a less expensive circular needle set than the one my mother in law was going to buy; now that is customer service. I live in Santa Rosa, but I will drive to this shop for my knitting needs, the service has surpassed any other knitting shop in Sonoma County.

Lovely owner, lovely staff, lovely selection, fair prices, lovely location with free parking so that you may have time to browse. Lovely. Worth the drive from Rosa.

While this store has a nice selection of yarns and tools(the only cause for giving it 2 stars instead of one), that is not enough to make up for the unfriendly, exclusive environment created by the owner and employees. When I feel that I am inconveniencing the staff by patiently waiting my turn and asking a question(that will lead to my making a purchase), or when it appears that I am an unwelcome distraction from their personal conversations with other customers, it makes me want to take my patronage elsewhere. I plan to buy yarn from now on at the cute little yarn shop in Railroad Square where I have always felt welcome and comfortable. My message to Balls and Skeins: if anyone else feels like I do, you may be losing business because of your haughty attitude. If that’s okay with you, carry on as you are.

Stopped in for the first time today and immediately felt at home. When I see sofas & comfortable chairs in a yarn store, I know that knitting/crocheting ‘on site’ is encouraged. Yarns are lovely~Varied in type. The staff was attentive, & the customers were happy. Everything about this store said WELCOME! I will definitely return.

Located right by Bee Kind, this yarn store has everything you need to get started or complete your next knitting/crochet masterpiece. The people who own it are totally friendly, helpful, down-to-earth — you almost want to sit down and knit away and chat with them all afternoon.

The owner and the ladies that work at Balls & Skeins are super helpful. They will help you find your patterns and the perfect yarn. The first time I visited Dee wrote a pattern for me on the spot! There is always someone sitting on the comfy sofas knitting or crocheting. It feels wonderful to visit. Check out the sale baskets — this is the only shop I know that marks down their yarn 50% when they need more room — this is in addition to the normal publicized sales! I hope they stay in business a long time — I know I have dropped a pretty penny in there!

A charming yarn store with a nice selection of quality yarn for various price ranges. You can sit there and chat with other customers/employees, get advice, work on your knit/crochet project, and not feel at all uncomfortable or unwelcome. A really nice vibe here.

This little gem of a yarn shop is as good as it gets. Friendly, helpful, enthusiastic staff greet you and help you find just the right yarn. Atmosphere is warm and inviting. Best of all Pam stocks all of the very best yarns, notions, patterns and fabulous knitting bags. They offer great classes and The Knitting Doctor to help get you through what ever you may be having difficulty figuring out. Weather you are in the store to shop or just hanging out to knit for a spell, Balls and Skeins is the best yarn store in the county.

I discovered this little jewel of a yarn store today. I is simply delightful. So homey and roomy, with beautiful displays of rainbow colored yarn, that leap out from their wooden cubbies just begging to be explored. Comfy, and inviting sitting areas to knit and chat. The ladies inside treated me like a queen during my visit and were helpful above and beyond. They share their passion for yarns and all things done with yarn. I had such a wonderful time during my brief stay that it was hard to leave. But I purchased some yarn for a project and placed an order for some more so now I have an excuse to return soon that I won’t be able to ignore.
