Works Progress

So happy I found this place! Here are some of the highlights:
1) Marnee (owner) and Candice (front desk) are genuine, sweet, and super helpful. You can tell they truly want to provide the best working space possible and foster a community at the same time.
2) The other people that work there are great — friendly, professional, and good respect for others.
3) Location– if you are in north Seattle, this is ideal. Plenty of parking, and Greenwood a lot to offer these days. I was looking at some spaces downtown but I am SO happy I ended up here.

My favorite co-​working place in Seattle. It’s shocking how many of them can’t provide my 2 basic requirements:
1) Parking. I live 25 minutes from any public bus lines, so I really have to drive.
2) Enough phone booths and/​or meeting rooms so that there’s always one free. I do a lot of video meetings.
Works Progress has plenty of parking, 2 meeting rooms, 2 phone booths, and other spots that can be used for a videoconference in a pinch (couch in the lobby). They are also a great deal (much cheaper than most others), and they’re easy to get to (close to the I-​5, not nearly as much traffic as anywhere downtown). And the Greenwood area actually has IMO better lunch options (good burrito place, Mr Gyros) then the places I previously worked at in Fremont and Ballard.
Finally, the people who run Works Progress are genuinely nice, and the clientele are too. I don’t want to hang out in a «startup incubator» atmosphere at the Hub, etc. I’m not trying to sharpen my elbows and expand my rolodex – I just want a mellow place to work, thank you very much :)
The space is good – a mix of one newsroom-​y cluster of desks, that has a busy work energy, and then one very spacious room with a large kitchen and a few work spaces that’s usually almost empty. The contrast is really nice to have when you need a chance of pace. The meeting rooms are spacious and nicely appointed.
The give you free snacks! And you get your own coffee mug with your name printed on it on top of their cute logo after a year’s membership.

I had been working from home for 3 years and realized I had completely forgotten
how to actually interact with real people. I went a saw a few co-​working spaces,
and I liked the location and setup of Works Progress. I’ve been here for a few
months now, and it’s excellent. Everyone working here is friendly and
professional. No one’s overly loud on the phone, and there’s plenty of private
space to have calls or meetings. Jessie and Marnee, who own it, do a really
good job of getting people together every once in a while so we get to know each
other and actually build a little community, rather than just a collection of people.
If you’re working from home and need to get out, I highly recommend coming here!

I’ve been renting on the «8 days per month» plan so I get a drop-​in space rather than the same desk each time. That’s cool, not a problem for me. And it doesn’t matter which 8 days of the month. The owners are really flexible. In the summer months, I dropped to just occasional drop in instead of a fixed payment.
There are two quite different sections. The one with desks is most popular but I prefer to work in the space with the big, movable tables. It has great natural light and is really quiet. There are big external monitors for all us laptop junkies so we aren’t crunched in bad posture all day.
Works Progress has a casual somewhat funky feel but the people here are definitely working and focused. It keeps me on track with my work to be around them! That’s why I come here instead of working at home.
It has all the other usual stuff that you would expect in a co-​working space.

I’ve been a member of Works Progress for about 3 weeks. I was working from home for my DC-​based company for about four months prior to that, and all the time alone and the distractions at home were starting to interfere with my productivity and happiness. I’m so glad I found Works Progress! It’s such a welcoming, calm, and energizing atmosphere here, and I get so much more done here than I would at home. Even though it’s an open floor plan and people chit chat and take phone calls at their desk, it stays pretty quiet — so people who are used to the quiet of their house or a library don’t need to worry about noise distractions. There are great conference rooms and phone booths you can step into if you need to Skype, put your phone on speaker, etc.
Other perks: there is always a pot of coffee going and snacks up for grabs. Several people here bring their dogs so it’s human and pet friendly. There are member lunches once per month so you can get to know your fellow co-​workers, but everyone is super friendly so there’s no need to wait until a member lunch to chat someone up. There are also great coffee shops and restaurants in the surrounding area so you’ve got options if you don’t bring your lunch.

I love Works Progress!
I’ve been a 2-​day per week member for almost 2 years now. I love that the environment is laid-​back and friendly, and that the space has tons of windows and light. Jessie and Marnee are ideal owners, creative and friendly, but on-​the-​ball in responding to members’ requests and even pro-​actively making things better every week, like getting rid of a fussy old printer in favor of a new one. The other members are friendly as well, and you can easily find others to chat with over lunch (if that’s what you’re looking for) or keep to yourself if your day is particularly clogged with work and meetings. The space is actually two separate rooms, and often you can decide if you want to be surrounded by the steady hum of busy, productive people or if you’d rather find a quieter spot for work. There are also a few pleasant meeting rooms as well as a two individual booths for private phone calls.
Works Progress is located in a great spot for finding a quick and affordable meal nearby, or running across the street to Fred Meyer or Bartell’s for a shopping errand.
I’m pretty picky about where I work but I can’t think of anything I’d change about Works Progress, and I feel really lucky that this great workspace suddenly appeared just at the time I needed it. Thanks Jessie and Marnee!

I love working at Works Progress. It’s welcoming, fun, and dog friendly. The décor mid-​century modern quirky. The location is great and they have meeting rooms that are easy to reserve to meet clients in. I love that they have monthly member lunches. Jessie & Marnee are so helpful and great to work with. Highly recommend. Come check them out!

I’ve been renting a desk at Works Progress for over a year now. This is the third coworking space I’ve been a member of in Seattle and it’s definitely my favorite. WP has a great mix of people spanning many different careers, including technologists, lawyers, and nonprofits. Everybody is friendly and considerate in the shared spaces so it’s easy to get into the zone and get work done. The owners have very high standards and are almost always on premises so problems are fixed immediately, and they’re always making improvements.

Works Progress is wonderful! I just moved to Seattle (Maple Leaf) this summer and it has been such a find. The space is warm and inviting with everything and more you might need. The big plus has been that there seems to be a real sense of community at the space, with lots of other working parents, and folks from all types of industries. It’s been a great introduction to Seattle. I’ve gotten to know some great people in such a short amount of time. The organizers are lovely and accommodating. I love that they seem to go out of their way to add all the little touches that make your day better — GOOD coffee, ever changing snack selection, the adorable office dog, and as much (or as little) socialization as you want. And Mr. Gyros right around the corner. So happy to have found this place!

WorksProgress is the best. I worked there regularly when I lived in Green Lake — I’d still be working there if the commute from N. Beacon Hill to Greenwood were a touch shorter, but alas. As I’ve looked for coworking spaces nearby, I have to admit that I have yet to find one that provides more value than WorksProgress does — you get a lot of bang for your buck there.
Many of the features you will find at WorksProgress are what you’d expect from a coworking facility — comfy, open space; speedy WiFi; sweet new kitchen; rooms for private calls or meetings; a handful of printers and scanners; etc. — but what kept me coming back were the people I met there, the value of the services, and the great neighborhood.
I miss you, WorksProgress!

Absolutely love this space! We held our gym’s 1-​year anniversary party here and it was fabulous. Jessie was super accommodating and great to work with, and the flow/​setup of the room was perfect for setting up food, drinks, places to sit, places to stand and chat, etc. If you’re looking for an event space (or an awesome co-​working space), Works Progress should be your first stop!

I went to Works Progress for an evening event a few months ago. The space is nice — very warm and open. It gets good light, and the hosts (Jessie and Marnee) were welcoming and accommodating. The night we were there, they had a full buffet and drinks in the kitchen. There were maybe 20 people in attendance, but there was room for many more. Something that’s nice about it is that there are different areas, so people can collect by the couches or the tables or spread out all over. I would definitely use Works Progress for future events.

I’ve been working here two days a week for a few months now, and I’m loving the flexibility and resources available. I’m a remote employee and I travel with some frequency for work, but it is nice to have an office space with phone/​fax/​reception, conference rooms, a kitchen, and other people to connect with personally and professionally when I’m in town.
There are a great bunch of coworkers to chat and eat lunch with, which is a big improvement over the years I spend working at home all alone for many years before finding this place! I wish I had discovered coworking sooner. With that said, there is a real respect for professionalism and workplace etiquette here. There are conference rooms and a phone booth room for conference calls to help keep the noise level down to promote productivity. We are a mix of lawyers, non-​profit workers, consultants, educators, students, and others who appreciate the company of colleagues.
The two owners are friendly and bend over backwards to help out their clients. Whether you are a freelancer, independent business owner, or remote employee (like me), coworking at Works Progress is a great way to build community and increase productivity. The space is also for rent and they host some great events here like the Phinney Art Walk and members events like game nights.
I live in the neighborhood and appreciate that I can walk to work, but there is parking and the location is on a couple of bus lines for days I need to come and go. It is also a highly walkable place, close to a post office, and lots of places to get lunch. Lastly, coworking is a more affordable option than renting a private office space, with the benefit of someone else coordinating the rent, phone, utilities, etc. plus the company of other friendly professionals!

I went to an event here a month ago, and must say it was a fantastic space. The two photos up on Unilocal currently don’t do it justice! The space is light & open, and has great energy/​feel to it. All the little touches everywhere are just adorable. Would absolutely recommend this space to others — whether for another event, or coworking! Get over there now!

Full disclosure: This is my sister’s business.
That being said, even if it *wasn’t* my sister’s business, I’d still think it was really rad.
The office space is super great — filled with ecclectic, found objects and repurposed furniture. There’s fun art on the walls and great pieces all over the place. They partner with the Art Walk to display local art, and there’s always something new.
The work space is filled with light and just the right size — not so big that it feels cavernous and not so small that it’s cramped. The chairs and desks are large and comfortable. Plenty of space to spread out and work.
The kitchette is complete, as are the other facilities (printers, phones, wifi, scanners, etc…).
The office is dog friendly and family friendly, too — they’re working on setting up a drop-​in daycare nearby so that working-​from-​home parents can have a place to work with adults while the little ones are taken care of.
They are working really hard to become an active part of the community. They host non-​profits, open the space up for local gatherings, and encourage start-​ups and small businesses.
If you work from home in the Greenwood, Green Lake, Phinny Ridge area, I *highly* suggest that you check out Works Progress.
