Not sure how they stay in business because I never see any lines here, but they have 1 item on the menu I come back for every now and then, the frito pie! A bowl of corn chips, chili, and all the toppings you would like. I also love a good loaded baked potato.

I don’t normally venture into the Columbia Tower Food court as I am not fond of it. The weather was dreary and I was short on time so today I went to the Wild West Café. I like the lady that works there, even though I haven’t been there in a long time she remembers my name. I ordered a Chili Dog today. The Hot Dog was probably the saltiest Hot Dog I have ever had, and the beans where undercooked in the Chili, and the Chili is kind of Bland. I would add a ½ star if I could because I really like the owner and if I am craving Mashed Potatoes and Gravy I know I can get it there.

Ok… so I didn’t want to like it and there isn’t any reason why I should or would like it if you know my eating habits. I haven’t eaten anything else here except for this one item that for some reason keeps me coming back to have it again. I don’t have it all the time — probably once or twice a year… It is a Frito Pie. Frito’s covered with meat of your choice, beans, topped with cheese, onions, tomatoes, green onions, cilantro and if you want it rice and sour cream. My body should be rejecting everything about this dish — for one it is heavy, dense, and always makes me feel guilty after eating it. But whenever I am in the Columbia Tower and I do the walk around to see what I want the little food devil in me will sometimes be whispering, «Frito Pie.»

Great food for Food Court standards; even better friendlier staff then Food Court standards. Good BBQ chicken sandwich. Nice, charming older asian couple(?). The lady even takes my money with both hands. Smiles. Happy. Nice. Thank you.

Wild West Café is your basic BBQ fast food restaurant, from a food court perspective. What this means is, it’s not in the same league as a standalone BBQ joint, but it doesn’t really try to be either. For what it is, it’s pretty decent. As other reviews mention, this place relies heavily on the sauce as the main«BBQ element». The meat itself is likely not even BBQ’d — appears to be cooked in a traditional manner, and nothing is smoked. This is likely due to the fact that it IS in a food court of a large downtown skyscraper, so a large wood-burning stove is probably out of the question. I would recommend the chicken BBQ sandwich with black bean chili. One big plus to Wild West Café are the workers, who I assume are also the owners. They are really the nicest people, and they take customer service to a new standard. The food is OK, but the food alone is not enough to bring me back. The food plus the great owners are.

Had the pulled pork sandwich and it was not a hit. Not that is was disgusting, just bland. I felt that the meat had no flavor and the sauce tasted like it came from a grocery store. Something I probably could have made. The people who worked there were very nice, I am sure the other stuff is good, but with Mad Oven close by I doubt I will be coming back. Zipzap Zubidy Bop!

I ordered a BBQ pulled pork sandwich with a side of coleslaw. The pork was good, but I agree that it was heavy on the sauce. The sauce is good, but it’s all I can taste! I added hot sauce to it, of course. ;) The cole slaw is pretty good though. Not mayonaise-y at all, but a vinager-based dressing. I wish they would make it less sweet – then it would be poifect. Probably won’t be going back any time soon, as I dont’ get cravings for BBQ type items very often. Or ever, really. Just wanted to try this place once since I’ve always been curious about it.

This place is all about barbecue, but I think they could do it better if they were a bit less heavy-handed with the sauce. The barbecue sauce they use on everything is thick and strong and a bit too spicy. Today I had the Texas Ranger baked potato, which was a big spud split open and filled with chicken, that barbecue sauce, and shredded cheese. It was good, but heavy. And how is this a café? It’s a walk-up counter and then it’s open seating in the Columbia Tower atrium. Whatever. It’s a good change from sandwiches and teriyaki.
