Warren G Magnuson Park – Off Leash Area

Awesome!!! Dog paradise if your pup likes to swim. Very well maintained, plenty of parking, although no grills in the dog park.

My boyfriend and I took Hunter, our 18 week old GSD puppy here on a sunny Sunday around mid-​day. We had never been to this park before and we were shocked at how HUGE the entire off-​leash area is. We accidently parked at the «end» of the park down near the off-​leash water area and walked the entire length of it to the main gates. Hunter had a blast meeting new dogs and giving them lots of sniffs and even a few friendly lciks. Everyone at the park was super nice and by the time we were ready to go home Hunter was pooped!
PROS:
1) One huge play area (close to College baseball field sized) that leads to other lengthy and wide walking/​playing areas.
2) 3 water hoses for thirsty pups!
3) Friendly people
4) Relatively clean! Only smelt like pee in one noticable area around the main gate
CONS:
1) A little bit confusing for a first timer but we know where to go for next time!
2) The ocean area is relatively small compared to the amount of people wanting to let their dogs go into the water
3) Really BUSY! (but thats kind of to be expected)

This park is pretty cool. We came on a sunny Saturday, so of course it was fairly crowded, especially at the water area.
What I like about this park is all of the space. There is a whole lot of area for the pups to roam and play. There are multiple entrances to the park, which I thought was nice.
Unfortunately, there was poop everywhere, despite there being MANY bag dispensers and trashcans throughout the park. Also, there were some dogs in attendance who were not well-​behaved, and the same could be said for their humans. I saw this smaller dog that kept aggressively approaching other dogs, barking and nipping at them, and the owner was basically like «whatever» as she was too busy paying attention to her phone.
Parking area is on the smaller side, so be prepared if you come on a sunny day, you might be circling for a while, or you could park down the way and walk in. There are signs warning that the lot is a high prowl area, so make sure to lock up.
All in all, a pretty good place to hang with your canine friend, but I think I’ll stick to the others.

What a fun place to go for a walk with your dog. It’s well stocked with bags and trash cans and even has a large area to get water for your dog. The one downside is the spot by the water lake is small so it gets crowded.

Went there with my dog this past weekend on a very nice sunny day. Best thing about this place is even with good weather and lots of dogs there is plenty of room so your dog doesn’t feel cramped.
Dogs of every shape, size, disposition, interest can be found here and from the looks of it every owner keeps tabs on their dogs to make sure no rough stuff happens.
my dog is not a water dog but we did make it all the way down to the Lake and she did get in a little bit to test the waters.
we did have one problem with a very ball aggressive dog at the end but those things happen and you just separate and move on.
Will be taking my dog back here a lot this summer!

One of my favorite places in Seattle, especially if you’re able to go when it’s not super crowded (weekdays, early morning on the weekends). My dogs start to whimper with excitement when we’re about a mile away from Magnuson.
I did have a couple of issues with aggressive dogs several years ago — my dog required stitches just above his eye after an incident, though the other owner did cover all the expenses — but lately there’s been an easygoing mix around. There are so many regulars at this park that owners of poorly behaved dogs seem to be pressured to steer clear. On a sunny warm weekend, though, anything goes.
Also, there are a lot of dog walkers who come with packs of pups during the week and while they occasionally miss a poop or two, I’ve also seen them picking up random ones, and will occasionally do the same if I come across one — there are free plastic bags and trash cans everywhere. The gross inconvenience is totally worth the access to such a magnificent (and fairly clean considering) place for my dogs to play freely.
One last thing: Do not come here with small kids and then freak out if friendly dogs approach your children. That’s just silly.

This place is huge! My dog’s favorite spot was definitely the beach area. I was surprised she spent so long in the water on a 50 degree day… Needless to say, bring a towel to clean up your pup for the ride home. I was impressed with the cleanliness of the off leash area. I liked the different fenced in sections as the dogs can’t get too far away from their owners. All of the dogs were well behaved, and the other owners were friendly. It was pretty busy on a Thursday afternoon. Probably over 100 dogs. I can’t imagine how packed it would get on a nice weekend day!

Wow! I adore this park — tons of room for my pups to run around and get all their energy out. Love being right on the water — it’s a bit of a drive for me but well worth it and my two dogs are always so happy afterwards. I wish I lived closer– great place — check it out if u haven’t been.

This place really is pretty awesome. I was surprised by how big it was! The off-​leash area actually is separated into multiple little areas, but the entire expanse of land is even fenced off, so you don’t have to worry about your little friend running into a parking lot or worse.
It’s right by the water, so you get some wonderful views. This weekend was sunny out (truly an aberration), so we were able to get a gorgeous glimpse of Mt. Ranier! So many people decided to bring their dogs out after the Seahawks game, so parts of the park were rather crowded, but there are so many paths and areas to play in that you don’t have to worry about any dogs that are more timid or prefer humans. No worries also if your dog isn’t a water dog– that’s not the only great thing about this park!
Extra Points: I didn’t see any doggie poop on the ground during our long walk!

This is one of the best dog parks in the region! It’s HUGE, well maintained, and has great water access.
You don’t have to search far for the off leash area — just go through the main entrance at Magnusson and head straight in. A sign will point you straight forward to the expansive parking lot that serves the off leash area.
The first area you’ll encounter is enormous. It’s a wide open square area perfect for letting dogs chase each other or for throwing the ball. There’s even a covered are with a bench to hide from a downpour. In that same area, there’s a water pump and bowl so you can clean up your pet or get them hydrated.
Then, there are several paths to other areas, like a smaller wide area to the right that’s also perfect for dogs to run in, and a long path to another wide area before the path to the lake.
AND there’s a small dog area!
All of these areas have cool rock formations and stumps for dogs to jump on and sniff.
One of the best parts of the park is that they have strategically placed garbage cans so you don’t have to schlep your dog’s poop around. AND there are poop bag stations just in case you forget your own.
This place is awesome! The only thing it’s missing — lights. I wish it had lights so dog people could come after 4pm in the winter!

Holy cow! This place is amazing! There’s trails, some more open areas (both grassy/​shrubby areas and gravel areas for your dog to run), and even a few fenced off areas along Lake Sammamish! They fenced off a portion of the lake due to salmon conservation, but still left areas where dogs could use the steps and rocks to jump into the water which is awesome. Lots of space for you to walk along the paths and trails. Some areas more private and some areas with a bunch of dogs.
There’s a little food truck type trailer thing at the entrance where they sell snacks for humans and dogs and other goodies. I didn’t check it out but my boyfriend did. There’s also a dog washing service for $ 10 I believe. Parking (for the whole park) is $ 1. You can use card or cash.
If I lived on the east side, I’d come here all the time, but I live in Ballard. Great park! Would definitely recommend to any dog owner.

Yep, great area for water dogs but if your pooch isn’t interested in water he is going to be bored. Also quite a tight space so if your dog is skittish around other dogs, or a placid dog, he is not going to enjoy the frenzied excitement of fifty dogs fixated on the ball. Seems I missed the rest of the off leash area.
To the middle aged woman proudly telling everyone she is there with her 8 dogs, your dogs think you are an idiot. Three of your dogs are just too old and curmudgeonly to enjoy the dog park so leave them at home!

Magnuson is really far from my house in central district but it’s worth the hour or so of bus rides to get up here.
The off leash area is massive and it goes all the way to the water. Your dog will love this place.

Awesome dog park! The off-​leash area was gigantic. Our dog loves running in big circles so that was a plus. The waterfront area is nice but a bit small for the amount of dogs and owners there. The park also provided bowels and clean water and tons of plastic bags to pick up our your dogs business. Will most definitely be going back!

This place is huge. Plenty of room for dogs to play. My dog loved it. The only part I didn’t like was the long walk to the water just because it was so hot outside. Other than that, this is probably one of my favorite dog parks I’ve been to. It was a Friday, so naturally it was swamped with people and their dogs. The water was actually pretty warm. My dog had a great time and passed out when he got home from having so much fun. I’ll definitely be back!

With so much open space for the dogs to run around it makes it a great option for play time and getting all that extra energy out.
We were glad to see the park had a small, fenced area for the smaller and maybe more timid pups.
Every dog owner there was friendly and welcoming, as this was not only our little Ava’s first time at this off-​leash park, but her first time off-​leash in public all together. We found it to be a very inviting community of dog owners who frequent the park.
My only advisement is that there is not a lot of grass at this park. It’s a lot of dusty dirt and rocks, with some grass patches. Our pup loves to roll in grass, so she was a little challenged by the landscape, but enjoyed it none-​the-​less.

I thought it couldn’t get any better than Marymoor, but this dog park is outstanding. Poop bag rolls and trash cans are easily accessible everywhere in the park. A watering station and kiddie pool at the entrance are great for washing up before heading out. Unlike Marymoor, lots of airlocks isolate several areas of the park so a curious pup can’t wander too far without being monitored. Unlike Edmonds, the beach area is fenced off so dogs can’t run off along the shore. We were very impressed!

I love this place, my dog is always so excited when we come here the area is perfect for all dog lovers. I must say that I’m pretty disappointed by some of the dog walkers that do not bother to pick up after the dogs under their care! What is up with that? There are dog bags everywhere as well as trash cans. I always pick up some else’s poop along the way so my dog won’t get sick. But other than those few irresponsible, the overall experience is great. There are many things to do with your dog, they even have a private swimming area. It is a lot of fun to watch the dogs swimming and having a grand old time.

Amazing! Walking trails, huge play areas, water — all safe for an off-​leash pup! Plenty of room for everyone to run around and sniff until their canine hearts are content. The dog owners are laid-​back and the dogs here are well-​socialized in my experience. I love bringing my dog here and watching him explore and socialize. Very thankful this place exists so close to home.

Favorite dog park ever! Gigantic off leash area with it’s own mini beach. The beach area worries me a little bit as the water isn’t fenced (obviously) so there is that possibility of your dog swimming back to you and ending up on the other side of the fence. Luckily, our dog only wades so we won’t have that problem.
It gets really crowded over the weekend which makes it hard to find parking. You should also wear clothes that you don’t mind getting dirty.

This gem is doggie paradise, particularly if your doggie loves to swim. There are a couple different ways to access this park, but the paths eventually converge to the highlight which is the lake access. And the pathways offer beautiful views of Lake Washington along the way.
Once you get to the water, you will find plenty of pups wading in the water, romping with friends, and chasing (or sometimes stealing) tennis balls. Don’t show up wearing your favorite white jacket because you are almost guaranteed to encounter a new wet/​muddy doggie friend fresh out of the lake that is just dying to jump on you. (Not like I speak from experience or anything)
If you park in the paved lot that comes in from Sandpoint, you pretty much just get straight on a path to the lake access. But if I remember correctly, there is another area to park where there is a wider play area for dogs. The one downside of the fenced off area by the lake is that it isn’t very big so there’s not as much space for dogs to run around and play as in many other spots.
This place is definitely one of my favorite places to go whenever I’m dog sitting.

Read the signs as you curve around the bends finding you’re parking spot this park offers everything. This park is absolutely gorgeous with stunning views and beautiful landscaping. They have a small unleashing section to every gate and a small area for dogs to do the business prior to the excitement of the pack. If you travel west you can find the lake with a beach for the public and a beach for your dog! With beautiful views and a fence into the water for marking dog allowed areas. As you hike the path (wide enough for a two lane street) you come to the big area with a smaller (small dog area) fenced in area.
I personally took our Whippet for her first dog park experience and I will absolutely be back! Living with dogs my whole life this is the most beautiful biggest dog park I have ever seen. I recommend going immediately!

Silly me thinking it was located by the main beach for people. No, no. It has its own beach, it’s own trail, it’s own field of doggy dreams. It’s basically Disneyland for dogs.
My puppy was quite impressed, as evidenced by the bleary-​eyed panting, the drooling, the ear-​nibbling of other dogs and the prompt pass-​out in the back seat. The beach elicited frantic circular sprints, the greenery along the sides a good deep sniff sesh. It’s almost TOO big, as when you find your puppy bolting away from you towards her new best friend of the minute, you best get truckin.’ Wear your grubbiest tennis shoes, as they will be utilized. This part will not be hard for us, fellow dog-​owning Seattlites.
To address the Unilocal rumors: The large white vans full of beastly large canines that come in large packs led by a single hairless upright monkey– the are indeed true. When I went on a mid weekday morning, there was 4 of these packs with 8 – 10 dogs each, some 10 – 12. If Princess isn’t a fan, or if you’re uncomfortable with the set-​up, this is something to consider when choosing your park. My puppy instructed and encouraged every dog from each pack to smell her underside, so we had no issue with them.
TR:DL:
1. It’s big. Wonderfully big.
2. You may get very grubby. So will your dog. Your dog will smile with its eyes.
3. There are many big dogs there, some scary. Use small dog area if needed.

Fantastic park — 2^nd only to Marymoor.
Parking can be difficult during «peak» hours. Sometimes it’s best to turn off early & walk into the park instead of getting stuck in the lot while your dog is going nuts.
Multiple entrances. First area is a wide, dusty plateau perfect for running or fetch. There is also a shy-​dog area. My favorite way is to loop around the shy-​dog area & take the shady path before you hit the long stretch to the water. There is little shade on this path & it gets HOT (about ~10−20 min to get to the lake, depending on your speed)! At one of the curves there is another wide area for fetch or play.
There is no more water until the lake but there are trash-​cans & bags for waste.
The beach is fantastic! One «airlock» gate to get into the «cue» & then another single-​fate to get into the lake. Very nice so you can make sure you & your dog don’t get separated (Esp. if you’re dog, like mine, refuses to leave the lake).
Lots of seating at the lake.
Between the running, the walk, the lake & the walk back my dog is always exhausted after this. It’s also a stimulating park for people!
