True Value Five Corners Hardware

They recently offered to replace all the tools that were stolen from the Puget Sound Labor Agency (about $ 5000 worth), which were used to build wheelchair ramps for families in need. Seattle isn’t always a warm and fuzzy place, but this is a fantastic reminder that there’s a great community here. Way to go, Five Corners. I’ll buy stuff from you all the time now.

Can’t say enough about how awesome this place is! David goes above and beyond to help you out with projects. Highly recommended. And bring him by a bottle of simple grape wine like Chardonnay or Cabernet cause he ROCKS!!!

I love this place. Just moved back to Queen Anne and forgot how amazing this store is! Now that I am back, they see me almost weekly and there seems to really be nothing they don’t have. Honestly. I love Dave, he has walked me through cleaning my lawn mower (since I was silly enough to put the wrong gas in) by removing filter, changing the spark plug and draining the wrong gas from the engine. He just walked me through changing my toilet fill valve. He even let me take a video while he walked through the steps so I could refer back to. Being a single mom these little task fall to me and to be honest, I am not «handy» in anyway. I am so grateful for this store and the amazing and down right knowledgable staff. Also folks the prices are great too. I can’t tell you to go visit them enough! Happy 75 yrs True Value and thanks for having such awesome and caring staff! You guys are AMAZING

I walked in, said «I need a lot of help!» and that’s what I got! I even called once I got home to ask about taking down an existing light fixture and they were really helpful and knowledgable!
Thanks to you guys I finished my diy Moose Antler Chandelier in an afternoon!

I’ve been to Five Corners Hardware several times, all for very different reasons. Everyone there is always very helpful!
Recently David went above and beyond to help me with a project, which thanks to his help turned out beautifully.
I would definitely recommend Five Corners Hardware. I am lucky they are in my neighborhood.

I’m constantly using is store to pick up supplies for home-​improvement projects. The staff are always friendly and helpful and know the answers to my needs. I’ve been going here for the past year and would recommend them.

This place is a bit rarity in this day and age — A small, friendly, family-​owned hardware store!
This place has saved me plenty of times when in a pinch (i.e — in need of some kind of tool or basic household maintenance item I don’t have on hand). Most of the time, they will have exactly what you need. All the time, the staff is helpful and knowledgeable. And to top it off? You’ll most likely spend LESS here than you will at any of the mega-​giant hardware stores!
This little gem is proof that a hardware store visit doesn’t have to be an overwhelming, and/​or unpleasant experience. Go here!

I had a wonderful experience here. I called up and the guy who answered the phone knows what he’s talking about, then I show up and pick up exactly what I need in just a few minutes. Home Depot could learn a lot from this.

I love this store! No driving long distances and entering huge stores where you take your chance on finding someone who knows (or cares) anything about the merchandise you want. I am constantly pleasantly surprised at the variety of products that I find that exactly meet my needs. Brian and staff go out of their way to make sure you get what you need – whether you are a contractor or a DIYer. I always leave satisfied!

Well, I can’t say I’m very happy. I went in looking for dry wall screws for metal studs and she gave me ones that work in wood. Granted now I know better (I have a carpenter), but that’s sort of what employees are for. Now my contractor has to come back tomorrow and as a small business owner, this sets me back. Unless you speak carpentry, buyer beware when it comes to this place. Home Depot was MUCH better!

The last of a dying breed, a true, local-​owned, old-​time hardware store with real service and relevant stock. Alarmingly competitive prices are a pleasant surprise. Queen Anners, consider yourself fortunate to have this rarity and show your appreciation by patronizing it, lest you lose it.

I’m torn writing this review, and even as I swipe these words on my tablet, I’m not sure how many stars I’ll rate it. Allow me to process.
Let’s start off with the good. It’s great having a hardware store in Queen Anne; I hate driving in the city, so local is better. Recently, I was in desperate need of twin-​blade window fans, and this store had several in stock when virtually every other store in Seattle was out of stock. This store saved me.
Now, the «could be better» category. Space is cramped, and it can be hard to get around without tripping over stuff or people. Service has been spotty. Have stood around waiting to ask a rather simple question while others receive lengthy service. Have had difficulty finding an employee after entering the store. A few employees are … Well, not rude or anything. Just not the warmest or friendliest. I think customer service is the weakest aspect of this store. If it improves on my next visit, or if I realize perhaps I was simply too impatient on previous visits, I’ll revise my rating.
So… The stars. I think I’ll go with three (A-​OK) for now. It’s not great, but I’m glad this store exists, and I will return.

It’s important to have a well-​run, reliable hardware store wherever you live. Sometimes the two big boys (Lowe’s & HD) lack certain tools & bits I need. Lo and behold, this store has it in stock. Or they will find something with which you can use in it’s place. Case in point: I was repairing an old air conditioner that was missing some important parts. One of those parts was a specific sized drain grommet. After striking out at both Lowe’s and HD, I was ready to give up. But while driving home I passed by 5 Corners Hardware and decided to throw the dice. Did they have the elusive grommet I so needed? No. They did one better actually. Without hesitation, one of the staff found an adaptable grommet with multiple diameter sizes used for drainage hoses! Unfreakinbelievable! This guy quickly improvised a solution to my problem and introduced me to a part I never knew existed. Score.

The most outstanding hardware store! Service beyond compare, knowledgable staff and great product. I will ONLY shop here;)

Whoever thought I would write a review of a hardware store? But the people running this store are the best out there. I am clueless fixing things around the home and the kind, helpful and knowledgeable folks at 5 Corners help me every step of the way.
Just a week ago, i went in to buy replacement pipes for my sink/​food disposal system; and was honest with the guy behind the counter about how if i had to cut the pipe to the right size, I would suck so bad it wouldnt be straight (its true, am terrible with the saw). Not only did he patiently hear my lament, but he asked questions about how far the system went into each other then diagonosed that the pipe i had was probably the wrong length to begin with, and if i had to cut the same length it wouldnt work (no wonder i had a leakin problem and a drainage issue). Later he actually took the pipe i bought from him to the back of the shop and cut me a perfect (i mean almost like it was cut with a laser) cut and took the $ 6 i owed him for the parts. Incredible service. I came back and fit it in first attempt and the leaking stopped as did the drainage issue.
On many earlier times I had had similar support, trouble shooting and help.
And if it is not hte service, the price is very competitive as well. I remember this christmas; I found christmas lights at the hardware store (i wasnt shopping for one) but they were priced at $ 1.99 and worked perfectly! Ridiculous. Ridiculously awesome!
This is one of the places in Queen anne that makes it have a small town feel, right in the city!

This is one of my all-​time favorite discoveries in Seattle. We found it because we needed advice on buying a heater. I called to ask if they could sell/​recommend a heater that would last longer than a week. The man I spoke with said, «yes, c’mon in.» We did, and learned that moving parts are what are likely to wear out first… and that’s why all our other heaters were breaking down. He sold us a radiator-​style oil-​warmed heater for no more than we were paying for the ones that broke. Years, later, we have it and it’s still working great!
More recently, I bought a toddler bed from Amazon. It included none of the necessary hardware. I had already disassembled the crib so was desparate to get my little guy’s bed set up. I called Five Corners and asked if i could email them a PDF of the assembly instruction sheet to see if they had the hardware i could buy to put it together. Kelly (the nice man who helped me) said yes and then, after reviewing the instructions, yes again. I bussed it up there, and bought the hardware… and was able to put the bed together.
He was SO nice. Every time we go into this store it’s a fun, productive experience. It really is an old-​time, neighborhood hardware store, in all the best ways.

The man working the counter who also copied my keys deserves 5 stars just himself! Genuinely friendly, we bantered and joked while a spare set was being made. I appreciated the small town feel he gave his shop.
Beyond that, you got all your basic hardware needs at a less expensive price than Aces, etc. Paint, yard work supplies, lights, nuts & bolts, it’s all there. Not the closest joint to me but if I need more keys or home repair needs i’ll head out this way for the supplies.

Such helpful and friendly people! I came here to buy some new light bulbs and to get pepper spray. They were able to help me find the right kind of bulbs (which work perfectly) and they ordered some pepper spray for me since they were out.
Only a week later, I got a friendly call notifying me of the order and I picked it up! They are so sweet and let me know to call them if I ever need anything! :-)
