History

Established in 2010.

Spark began because of the Do-​It-​Yourself trend occurring across the country. We were inspired by the growth in popularity of people empowering themselves with new skills and abilities and decided that we could help people uncover the dreams they have for their work, their home and where they have fun in ways that can get their own hands dirty if they choose to.

Our work specializes in developing the potential of what already exists with the goal of first making what you have better. We like to add-​on before tearing down. A new room with an alteration can meet most goals without making a huge budget. Small Jobs are our favorites. We prefer making special places out of the mundane: a nook for reading, a built-​in eating area or brightened and organized work area to release unneeded stress. We even enjoy working in your yard. A new sauna, covered deck or even benches from discarded materials are fun for us. Above all, we enjoy fun and inventive design projects no matter the size.

I’m a maker at heart and by principle. My hands are dirty, scraped and blistered and I enjoy working side-​by-​side with people to get a job done. My goal is to not to be the signature architect but to help you make the best decisions for your project by being a collaborative designer, teacher and researcher.
