Mediocre. The restaurant was not overcrowded has a great view. The food was a bit pricey for what we received. The basic white rice, large chunks of veggies slightly seasoned, and small shrimp were not impressive but the sauce served with the fish and the fish itself were decent. Maybe this place specializes in something other than seafood.

This place has such an amazing view and offers a pretty good selection of vegetarian /vegan options. I ordered the veggie burger and added avocado($ 1.50 extra I believe) and it was delicious!

If only I could give half a star, this place doesn’t deserve a whole star! The food was overpriced and underwhelming to say the least! The view of the puget sound was the only pleasant thing about the whole experience but you can easily get a better view from anywhere around market place area. The staff were unhelpful. At one point a couple began to argue with a foreign family for supposedly ‘stealing’ their table, after the conflict was mitigated the one customer started yelling ‘LOSER’ to the poor family, whilst they were just trying to enjoy their meal. Instead of helping the situation staff either did not intervene or they too picked sides and antagonized the situation. I wouldn’t even eat here if they paid me, avoid it like the plague…

If all you want is a view and place to get out of the crowd and drink a beer — this is it! If you want great food too, choose one of the many other options in the market. View/atmosphere: 4.5÷5 — yes, it’s true, you can sit inside in relative comfort and look out the windows at Puget Sound while drinking a beer just steps from the madness of the crowded market. Nice! Food: 2⁄5 — the burgers are previously-frozen angus beef patties with not much taste to them, but they are cooked fresh and served up with oven-baked spiced potato wedges(also previously frozen). The white clam chowder is pretty good, a bit spicier than typical Ivar’s — not sure of their source, but tastes kind of like Pike Place Chowder. Salad bar looked fresh and appealing, but pricy. Service: 3⁄5 Counter service. The individuals at the register seemed confused and a bit harried even though it was not very busy,(maybe we came in at the end of a rush?) but they took our order, gave us our beers, and everything worked out well.

Delightful views of the sound are an excellent draw for this tasty sandwich spot. They also have a small self service bar if you’re into that sort of thing. Typically ALWAYS packed with people, be prepared to wait during busy eating times and be on the look out to swoop in and grab your own table when one becomes available. **Disability disclaimer: this little bistro is in the heart of the Pike Place Market, which alone isn’t especially wheelchair friendly because it’s a historical building, however this place in particular is a cramped spot which may pose difficultly for someone in a wheelchair or scooter.**

Very comfy, nice staff, excellent chowder. Nice wood tables. The music was a little hip for us, but okay. Sandwiches huge and delicious!

It’s a nice little place with a view that you go up and order at a counter and then they bring the food to your table. Everything was fine until we got our two plates of food and only one had french fries on it. They said they would bring us more fries out. After about five minutes I went up to see where our fries were and I saw other plates of food going out with french fries on them and they said they would bring them to us. Another 10 minutes went by and still no fries. I asked them again and they said they would bring us some. As far as I’m concerned this place has awful customer service. They should’ve took care of their current customer before they took care of new customers after us. They got our money and didn’t care anymore. You actually pay before you get your food. If you want good food and good service don’t come to the Soundview café.

Went for seafood– BIGMISTAKE. I had the crabcake fritatta and she had the salmon benedict l. Both selections were flavorless– a shame for this part of the state. Can’t speak for the burgers. Etc. A nice view with bland food. Look for someplace fresher.

The Mrs and I were looking for a good Seattle breakfast on our last morning in town. Walking toward Pike’s Market, we’re checking our phones when a city worker asks what we were trying to find. His suggestion for a good diner was Sound View, just up the street.(We could see the extended seating area above us.) And this is diner food. Kitchen is fairly open. That morning, pumping out some classic rock as they worked. We sat by the windows, sounds and smells from the kitchen behind us as we looked out over a drizzly view of the sound, ships going in and out. Quintessentially Seattle setting to enjoy our salmon and egg dishes: her salmon and prawn omelette, me salmon hash, eggs over easy. Potatoes, toast, and the obligatory diner butter/jelly packets. We traded bites as we filled up, satisfied with this not-too-greasy-but-just-a-little-greasy greasy spoon. Thanks, helpful local!

My whole family likes to dine here for a casual meal. We like bringing friends who are visiting from out of town because you cannot beat the view and it is inside Pikes Place Market. Good soups and salad bar, good sandwiches and traditional breakfast items. Solid restaurant, good value, great location, quick service.

Enjoyed the Northwest clam chowder soup. It has a different taste to it compared to the New England clam chowder. The Northwest version has a smokier taste. It was delicious! Def recommend to have if coming here.

There are so many choices on the menu that I had a hard time deciding. Went with the simple omelette with mushrooms. It was really good and the service was great. The guy behind the counter, as busy as he was, kept a great attitude. The views, as the name suggests, of the Sound are awesome and it adds to the meal. Good place to go without spending too much.

Not a bad view while you eat, but the food is basically just heated thru and delivered to the table. Not much seasoning except copious amounts of black pepper on the scallops and mushrooms I ordered. Yet somehow, it still took 25 minutes to cook. It was literally scallops, button mushrooms(undercooked and almost raw), sliced tomato, and a lemon on a plate… reminiscent of those old senior citizen jersey beach breakfast places.

Although I’m sure there food is normally at least ok the service and food this time was not. Let me start by saying I have never returned food in my whole life but I did here. First off the young gentleman running the register was nice but kept giving me incorrect answers. I asked for toast with breakfast but then I got just plain cold bread, I asked for home fries but they sent me French fries. The eggs were runny and although I like seafood tastes like fish. My girlfriend likes her crab burger but that doesn’t make up for the rest. Don’t waste your time.

For me, this place gave me everything I was asking for: a great view, a good drink, and good food. I’ve read the previous reviews and it seems that the proprietors listen: they now serve Heinz ketchup and their salad bar remains immaculate. If I hadn’t been in the mood for French fries I probably would have annihilated that salad bar. The service was wonderful and their Northwest chowder, which I had asked for a sample, was so divine I found myself wishing I had ordered that instead of my burger. Which, btw, was SOOO good the table next to mine were very impressed. The French fries made me so happy because they were delicious and not greasy at all. I’m wishing I has discovered this place sooner but I now know where to go for a lunch and gorgeous view. And awesome beer on tap. Will be back!!!

A quaint little café that serves great food and wonderful customer service. We had: — Salmon Benedict: the potatoes were flavorful and the hollandaise sauce tasted herb-y. It was excellent. –Clam Chowder: contained even amounts of clams and veggies. Delicious. –French Toast: arrived with a side of sausage and fruit. Yummy! Overall, this place offered a wonderful experience. Yay!

Came here for breakfast last week. Great location, quick service, and a nice view(though on that particularly morning, it was gloomy outside). The café was on the plain side, but I noticed on the wall there were some framed photos, including one of Pike Place way back when. I love touches like that! I ordered the breakfast option with two eggs any style, two sausage links or strips of bacon, and two french toast slices or pancakes. Got mine scrambled, with sausage and french toast but coworker opted for the pancakes and we shared. Breakfast was delicious, no complaints at all. We also each had a bowl of fruit from the salad bar. I liked the food and would come here again, but I agree with others that the selling point is the view of the bay. 3.5 stars.

After failed lunch plans, a friend and I decided to have lunch here. I had seen it a number of times but had never been in. We ventured in, looked at the menu, and salad bar, and decided to give it a go. We decided to share mushrooms and scallops. I saw an albacore tuna sandwich on the board and asked where the tuna was from. The server said, «From a can.» Mind you, the board didn’t say«tuna salad.» I had to call an audible and decided to get the crab cake burger. At the time, I didn’t realize my friend got the same thing. The scallops were small and had no sear on them(or seasoning). The mushrooms were watery and had clearly been cooked improperly. The crab cake burger reminded me why I don’t like ordering crab cakes. It was EXTREMELY hard to find ANY crab in the crab cake. It was almost exclusively made of filler. It ran contrary to my «all lump, all the time» rule. Disappointing. The dish came with fries. My first bite of one told me that it had been fried in burnt oil. Because I was hungry and pressed for time to get back to work, I ate them. I decided that drowning them in ketchup was the way to go. The ketchup was in a bottle that had been reused multiple times. This was the worst ketchup I’ve ever had. Buried under my mound of fries were some burnt fries. AHA!!! The salad bar looked good and at $ 5.99 a plate, it’s much cheaper than salad bars near my office. The view was good. I think perhaps a few cocktails would improve my perception of the food I ate. Oh, the food plus a ginger ale came up to around $ 46 before tip.
