Sherlocked

The set up of the game was pretty good. Some of the clues were a bit off though so there was quite a huge leap in «logic». Otherwise, puzzles were challenging enough and we definitely took the better part of an hour to escape. But escaped we did.

What a scam. This place is the laziest attempt at an escape room I have encountered so far. Don’t waste your money or time. A dingy basement room loaded with garage-​sale furniture and puzzles unrelated to the storyline. Not even an attempt at being creative here… just plain bad.

We did this for a work event (7 of us) and had a great time! We didn’t know what to expect, but the puzzles were doable, with the right amount of difficulty for our group. It was a good activity for the number of people we had. The host was friendly and enthusiastic. Our only complaint is that one or two of the props were broken or written on, which complicated things a bit, but not so much that we weren’t able to solve all the puzzles. I’d recommend it for work or just for fun.

They epitomize creating a business to capitalize on a growing trend. Too many store bought puzzles. Illogical designs. Garage sale garbage filled the room, and too many things that you can’t touch. Why was there a hamper in the corner with a blanket inside? I’ve been to a lot of escape rooms. Hands down this was the worst.

I am a huge fan of the «Can you Escape» App.
I was expecting it to be similar… But no, it was not fun & not well thought out.
At arrival there was a nice host who met us, but it went downhill from there. Literally. We had to walk down to some freaky basement, it could have at least been staged and made it seem freaky with décor but no, it was just a creepy hole in the ground that made a confident person like me feel insecure and claustrophobic.
The host then turned into a boring robot that seemed to be reading off a script, extremely boring person that did not excite us about the game and was not clear about the rules, we had to keep asking questions to make things clear.
When the game started it was way too hot, I’ll lit, and random clues. I always liked puzzles and mystery anything, until now… I could not wait to get out of there… I was so bored… And I think I lost my interest in this kind of stuff for good… The décor was extremely disappointing! We finished at 90% not yet there, was so glad it was over! Ugh… I hate even thinking about this again… I do not recommend even to my worst enemy…

It was the worst escape room I’ve done… dollar store Halloween décor and nothing made sense. We escaped but it was so bad I almost asked for a refund.
Do go, the others in town are all better.

70% failure rate. That’s what the host said was the failure rate of groups who enter the room and fail to make it out within the hour.
Quite a fun unexpected adventure. Went into the experience not knowing what to expect. We did the secret agent room with two other random couples and everyone in our group had a blast. There was about 12 or so puzzles to solve each ranging in difficultly. There was enough going on in the room that everyone was able to solve a couple of clues with some help from others working together. As in Simone might say I wonder if this might be important then Simone tried it in a puzzle and it worked.
My group finished the secret room with 17 minutes to spare and our host said our group was probably the fastest group ever. Considering the success rate for finishing was only 30%.
This was a totally fun experience. I would do Sherlocked again (although a different room since we know the answers to all the clues in this room)

If you want different styles of fun especially with a group of friends, come here!!! You will be told a story for a room that you and your friends will need to put your minds together and solve!
We had about 8 of us and didn’t make it all the way but the way we got together to figure out how to open some locks, codes, math, and skills made it fun.
The host will help you if you need it and you have about 1 hour to solve the mystery.
When you’re trying to look for this place, look next to the hotel and there’s a dark door you will barely see.
Try this live game with friends if you want something different for game night :)

This is my second puzzle room I’ve attempted (two different locations) and also the second time I failed. But they are always a fun time. Sherlocked is creepily located in the basement of an old building. The air quality isn’t of the best quality so if you have a hard time breathing stale air or in smaller spaces this place isn’t the place for you.
If you’ve never been but you like clues and puzzle solving it’s a fun event. It’s usually hard to get into it right away as you wander around looking for things that you didn’t even know you’re looking for… but about 20 — 30 minutes into it, you quickly realize that this is pretty fun. When there is about 15 minutes left you feel the pressure of figuring it out and it’s pretty exciting as you feel so close yet so far in figuring it all out. When the time is up and you’re still stuck — the room master lets you know how close you got and you sit there kicking yourself wishing you had more time.
Overall a fun experience as a group! I don’t know if I’d come back to this location in specific any time soon but I’ll definitely be back at some point in time to try out their other puzzle room for sure.

Came here as a team building activity for work with a group of 9. We did the Haunted House room and were able to solve it with 5 minutes to spare. This was a good number of people for the room since we all felt that we got a chance to participate and solve the many puzzles scattered around the room. The puzzles in general felt fairly well-​designed and we didn’t feel like we had to do a huge amount of guesswork (most of the time was trying to figure out which clue went to which puzzle). My team members all thought it was a lot of fun.
Our games master was not in the same room as us, but we were able to ask for hints by knocking on the door (limit of 2 hints). I felt that this worked out perfectly.
I definitely agree with the other reviewers that a little more work can be done with the ambiance. While there were some decorations, I felt that it could have been made spookier and more in line with the theme of being in a haunted house.

«Escape from the Secret Office was a fun activity, and very centrally located in Cap Hill so great for drinks/​dinner before or after. Also, this game is open all week, as opposed to many others only available on weekend.
Downsides: room is and feels unclean — that was a significant detractor. For such a bare room, it should have felt more inviting for cleanliness level. Also, furnishings were extremely sparse — bare bones. For $ 30 per head for 60 minutes of activity, our expectation was of something, well, more upscale. This was rather spartan. But we had fun — enjoy!

We did this as a team building activity for work. Did the Haunted Room and it was super fun. I would recommend it for any group, especially work teams.
Pros:
— The puzzles were great. Tricky enough to keep us all moving and solving. Felt like they were just the right level of difficulty.
— Our game keeper was super nice. He didn’t proactively offer hints as others have noted but did supply the hints when asked and they were perfect for where we were in the game play. (You get 2 hints).
Cons:
— They could definitely use some more work on the décor of the room to make it feel spookier and less like a basement. Even some dark paint on the walls would help
— Agree with the other comment that when you finish there should be signs that said «We escaped» or «We failed» with branding for the place that you can post on social media. First of all, it’s the easiest marketing they could do and second, you want to celebrate your win with some type of YAY! moment. It was weird there was no ‘recognition’ that we had done it.

I’ve been to «Escape from the secret office» room with a team of 6. Unfortunately, our experience was very disappointing.
First, the room just doesn’t have ambiance — it’s just a basement with some furniture thrown in. Of course, it is an escape from the office, not from some exotic location, but it’s boring.
Second, the puzzles were bland. One we somehow «solved» by just fiddling with the puzzle box (after which it fell apart) instead of figuring out the code for it. Another one we «solved» trivially while we were supposed to use an item obtained from another puzzle. After we completed the room, we still had a bunch of items we had no clue about, and the lady who explained the puzzles looked at us like we were stupid and said we did it all wrong. Well, if you have a specific way of solving the puzzle in mind, make sure it’s the only one; if something is not supposed to be moved, bolt it to the floor, because it’s really frustrating to find out that we escaped but didn’t guess what you meant!
Finally, this is the only room which doesn’t bother to take your photo even if you win. Hey, what’s the point of having a Facebook page if you’re not publishing photos of happy winners there?
I hear they have another room open this fall, and I’m a huge lover of puzzle rooms, but I’m really reluctant to return.

Sherlocked was a unique and fun experience!
It’s located in Oddfellows basement, which is different from the apartment building. We had a group of four, which seemed to be the perfect amount to solve the mystery. We finished with 50 seconds to spare. The puzzles were challenging with only a couple math and logic questions. We only asked for help from the game master once, but she voluntarily gave clues throughout. If you don’t want any help, i’d let her know in advance you want to do it all on your own.
I would be interested in trying their Halloween escape game, as it would be have been more fun if the environment was scary, not just in an office. The props and décor were okay, but could be improved in the future.
I read in other reviews that people with small groups were put with others. I think this would detract from the game, as half the fun is working with your friends to get towards an answer. If you book, try to get at least 4 or 5 people so you’re not stuck with strangers.
The location is right next to Molly Moon’s so our group rewarded ourselves with some ice cream after ;D

I’ve done dozens of escape rooms, and was excited to take my girlfriend for her very first; but this was easily the most disappointing I’ve ever experienced. There was no atmosphere whatsoever, just a plain white basement with a bored attendant sitting in the corner of the room texting, who didn’t even wait until we finished to begin walking through the middle of the game, resetting puzzles we’d solved! We had a session booked for 1pm, but we’re notified with 45 minutes notice, that we’d been moved to the 11:30am session, without explanation. We arrived in a rush to find we were sharing the session with a family and small child. While lovely people, they crowded out one puzzle at a time as a family, leaving my girlfriend and I constantly struggling to stay involved. Incredibly disappointing experience, go to literally any other escape room.

Out of the three other escape rooms I’ve tried in the Puget Sound area (Ninja, Puzzle Break, and Train — in redmond), this one was my least favorite.
Reasons:
— the atmosphere of this escape room was not as rewarding as the other three. The furniture/​clues/​and props seemed like they were just thrown in at random, without any serious thoughts.
— The clues were a bit random, and did not tie in with each other nicely
— A lot of the props were broken, and interfered with our problem solving. One of them literally just broke, because we shuffled it around a bit.
Just all in all, the other escape rooms are much better put together than this one. But if you guys like escape rooms. this one is a relatively easy one to start with, and it will not raise the bar or expectations for other escape rooms. Start with this one. and branch off. to enjoy the experience better.

Sherlocked was awful and a waste of money, first thing is that we paid for a group of 4 and were forced to join another group without any warning, so buyer beware you will be grouped with strangers.
The production value was very very low, puzzles were convoluted and there was really no clear the direction.
The lady sits in the room and glares at you the whole time. When asked for hints she will also respond like your an idiot «do you not remember the blah blah blah»

I feel compelled to write a review, because my friends and I were not super satisfied with our experience. Don’t get me wrong, we had fun, but there were a few things that could have made the experience better. First of all, our «game master» did not seem enthusiastic at all; it felt like she didn’t even want to be there. When telling us the back story, she was very unenthusiastic. My friends and I like to mess around sometimes because we’re silly, but she seemed annoyed at us, and was playing with her iPad the whole time. Also, the production value was very underwhelming, especially for how much we paid. The room itself was very dingy, and we all agreed that the props could have been so much better. It looked like a bunch of old, mismatched furniture got thrown into the room. The puzzles themselves were fun, and I don’t want to spoil anything, but there was one part that was pretty exciting. We finished all the puzzles and «escaped» with only a few minutes to spare, but it was pretty anti-​climactic, and we all felt like our game master just wanted to get us out of there. I also think it would have been more fun if the game master was part of the game (for example, if she had dressed up and role played). If they made improvements, this could be a great experience.

My friends and I had never tried a locked-​room game before, but after reading an article in the Stranger about them, we decided to try our local Capitol Hill option, Sherlocked. Don’t worry, I won’t give any spoilers about the game itself!
It’s located in the basement of the Oddfellows building and it has a separate entrance from the outside, right next to the H&R Block storefront. You need to book in advance, but same-​day reservations can sometimes be accommodated by emailing them. Each time slot allows up to 7 people, so if your group is smaller than that, you may be playing with strangers.
You’re led into an entrance room where the rules are explained, and from there into the actual locked room. A «game master» will be with you in the room the entire time, and you’re allowed to ask for help twice. In the 60-​minute time limit, there are about a dozen riddles or puzzles that you have to solve in the correct order to unlock the safe, nab the gold bar, and escape your rival secret agent’s locked office.
I’m terrible at math and logic, so I chose Sherlocked because it sounded like one of the easier locked-​room games. I was hoping that meant more word or geography puzzles. Instead, it’s a combination of searching the office for clues, identifying which clues go to which riddles, and using the solutions to move forward in solving the game. Some of the more STEM-​oriented ladies in my group wished that there had actually been *more* math/​logic puzzles in the game.
I’m sure it’s tedious as the host to watch groups of people struggle with the same puzzles over and over, but I wish our minder hadn’t offered us quite so much help. We never actually asked our two questions because she was giving us so much advice throughout, sometimes clearly frustrated with our lack of progress. I don’t think we would have solved it in the time limit on our own, but it would have been better to be left to our own devices until we actually requested help.
Overall, it was a fun and challenging experience, and having done it once, I understand a lot more about how it’s supposed to work. At $ 28 a person, it’s probably not something I would do all that often, but it’s an interesting off-​the-​beaten-​path activity for groups.

Came w/​some coworkers, was a lot of fun! Puzzles were quite doable and straightforward, we read way too much into things which slowed us down, but it was neat to see everything fit in at the end. We finished just shy of 60 minutes.
Can’t wait for the new Sherlocked room in a month.
