Shell Gas Station

I really needed to use a bathroom and I figured this shell gas station would provide quickest and easiest access. I was even nice enough to buy something first. As I went to the drinks the women came out from behind the cash register and without staying a word but staring directly at me started walking right towards me. I froze and wondered if I did something wrong. She walked towards me and brushed past me to do what I have no idea. I grabbed a drink and some chips and walked up to the register where she was ringing someone up. She was just staring and not saying a word. When it was my turn she continued staring and not saying a word. By this point I was losing my courage to ask for a restroom but I did anyways. She gave me a really weird look and said they didn’t.
Idk, what and odd place and what a bizarre and unfriendly staff member. Though I guess it takes a special kind of person to work at a Shell in this location. Very bizarre customers constantly coming through the door.
Knowing there is no bathroom here I would have absolutely no reason to stop by ever again.

Just read the NYT, $ 80 parking ticket within few mins ont he lot, jeez, I knew Seattle was bad for parking but this is ridiculous.
I love my friendly eastside businesses and ample parking. Added this to my GPS as a never visit pump.

This gas station was written up in the New York TImes, December 7, 2014, as issuing bogus parking tickets to people parked on its lot. Probably a good idea to buy your gas and drinks elsewhere. Google «Help no one, but if you must, videotape it» to see how this Shell station treats its customers. Or here’s the link: hopefully it will continue to work.

Never been here — but, most important — never will. How come a guy in southern California writes a review of a gas station in Seattle? Just read the Haggler column in the N.Y. Times from December, 2014.

Closest gas station from our hotel. We had to get gas before returning our rental. The gas here is obviously more expensive given that we were in downtown. We came late night, and we felt that the area is a bit shady. There were people walking around at 11p at night. Pretty crazy!
Luckily for us, there were others getting gas so we felt pretty safe. What was weird was the suburban we were driving mentioned «85». I’ve never heard of «85» grade. Oh well, we just used 87.

I can not recommend this gas station. I had an issue with my car and asked for help. The lady who was working in the shop made me wait while she was talking to a friend. Then she told me that it was too late to call a mechanic and continued her private conversation. I asked for help again, but she just smiled at me and recommended to ask other customers. Finally somebody helped me, but I’ll never go to that gas station again.

I asked the clerk for change for air. She gave it to me. I put the change in, and discovered the air doesn’t work. I went back in and told her.
Her: «You have to tell me if you want air.»
Me: «I did.»
Her: «I didn’t hear you.»
I asked for my money back and she said the air machine wouldn’t give it back. She said I could pull around to the side where they have another air machine. But, she said I’d have to put more money in that machine.
When I said I didn’t want to pay twice, she said «I don’t know what to do.»
I told her I either needed my money back, or I needed air without paying twice. I’m not sure if she understood. I’m not sure if there was a language barrier, or if she just didn’t want to deal with situation.
I finally just asked for my money back, and she turned wordlessly to go back in. She handed me the quarters wordlessly, smirking, without looking at me.
Go ahead and go here if you wanted to be treated like shit.

Agree with all of the most critical reviews. Tip: pay at pump (bend over and get screwed) so you don’t have to interact with rude employees or risk being accosted by drunks buying gum ($ 2 a pack to boot).
Total ripoff and horrible service. Did I already mention how slowly the pumps are? It must be so you don’t get dizzy watching the price wheel whirl!
Unfortunately, it’s only really convenient gas station. Fortunately, I rarely drive:-)

You would think a gas station would be able to do one thing right — pump gas. But this Shell can’t even do that. The premium pumps (which my car requires) always pump extremely slowly. It takes 10 minutes just to pump 12 gallons.
It has been like this for over a year. I make the mistake of going back once or twice a year, thinking surely they must have fixed it by now. But nope, it’s consistently agonizingly slow. Usually I give up and leave before the tank is full. The staff there didn’t seem to have the interest in fixing or reporting it the one time I told them.

They charged me twice, one for things I didn’t even purchase. THANK YOU FOR MAKING ME GO OUT OF MY WAY TO STRUGGLE TO GET 40 BUCKS BACK.
Believe you me, I will be getting my money back… Dbags.

I’m glad there’s this gas station in Capital Hill — much needed. I don’t know why it has such a bad rating — it’s a standard gas station, conveniently placed and moderately priced.

They get all 5. They were the only open place, AND they had ice cream. Huzzah!
Though upon further review, the ice cream was either:
1. Not Haagen-​Dazs or
2. Quite poorly cared for
The ice creams were squishy coming out of the «freezer,» and the ice cream was pretty meh. ²⁄₅. Would have been ¹⁄₅ if they had no ice cream or if they’d tried to stab me. They didn’t stab, and they did have ice creams. So ²⁄₅.

The absolute rudest asshole works at this gas station, and is possibly their manager. Also, here’s a great anecdote from my last road trip!
On a drive from Portland to Vancouver we stopped off in Seattle to grab some gas and food. After going to Dick’s, where the counter lady was also a total dick «I said one NINETY eight not one EIGHTY eight and THAT’S a CANADIAN quarter»… she may as well have added asshole, we ended up here to fill up on gas, vaccum the car, etc. Big mistake.
As we pulled up three drunk chicks were bitching about not being able to use the bathroom at 6pm. At a gas station. One of the only reasons for going to a gas station is using their fucking bathrooms!!! So anyways…
The vaccum is out of order. It must have been for a long time, as they seemed to have scammed another Unilocaler out of $ 3 before us. But when we try to start our car in reverse we realize the engine’s over heated from nine hours of driving along the interstate in the middle of summer. Unfortunately this meant we needed to wait by their wonderfully BROKEN vacuum.
That is, until the official manager/​dickhead informs us that we MUST move our car out of his lot. After calmly explaining that our car only needed coolant, no one was waiting for that space, the vacuum we intended to use was broken and our car needed to cool down before we could put coolant in it he repeated himself, telling us to move out of the lot or he’d have us towed.
So I asked for some water in our empty gallon jug in a futile attempt to hasten the process and a funnel for our coolant. They dont «have water» in their working sink nor a funnel found hanging on the wall. They also don’t have napkins, or a bathroom, or anything, even if you are buying gas from them. You know who did, for anyone paying or not? QFC, right across the street.
So in short, absolutely fuck them. He called a tow truck that never arrived, he claimed to even have called cops, over our car sitting in an empty lot to cool off, with us attending it. Besides, their gas, smokes, and beer are way over priced, their manager acted like a complete dick, and they offer absolutely no service beyond the minimum description of their name. Avoid at all cost!!!

Blah. This is a gas station review. Everyone hates to have to pull over and fill up. «Can’t we just GET there already?! If you have to pee, go now. We’re NOT stopping until we have to fill up again.»
Plus — it’s another one of those things we pay for but don’t really get to enjoy. Like paying for toilet paper or toothpaste. You need it. You have to buy it. But it’s not a fun purchase.
This gas station is closest to where I live. They don’t have a car wash, the price is usually a few cents higher than other Shells in the area and every time I go in to buy something, ask for a receipt, etc — the woman who works there is on her phone talking to someone else.
If you ever thought it was rude wait on a customer on the phone, try being waited on by someone on the phone. It’s 10x worse! So rude.

Simple. I needed air in my tire. (I had 13 LBS of pressure in a tire that needs 35 LBS.)
To make an incredible story short, the clearly marked sign said: Air $ 1.25. The clerk said, «well, I know it *says* $ 1.25, but it’s actually $ 1.50.
$ 3.00 later, I realized that while it *sounded* like the machine was working, it was not. It was merely letting the air Out of my tire.
Sure. These things sometimes happen, so I went into the station to get my silly little refund.
Forget About It. The clerk was shockingly rude (at one point I wondered if I might by on Candid Camera or an episode of «Punked!»).
After performing a standing version of a sit-​down strike, she finally (without a word) gave me $ 1.50.
(Go to the Shell on 12^th Ave, The machine clearly states that you get 3 minutes of air for $ 1.00. And it’s true.)
