What a gem of a restaurant. Went in tonight, for the first time after moving to the NE Seattle area nearly 3 years ago. So wish we’d gone in, sooner! SPG has the wonderful charm of a local place where there are clearly a stream of regular patrons but with the culinary panache(scallop special was fantastic) of a «hip» place on Capitol Hill. The staff(especially charming Scott) could not have been kinder or more attentive to my two kids and me(I think they sensed on a school night we needed to keep moving). In addition to asking if we wanted bread — rather than just plopping it down to ruin the kids’ appetites, they also offered a plate of apple slices, carrot sticks, and celery. Fantastic. Healthy kids food! The kids had burgers — high quality meat on a brioche bun. The menu has a lovely variety of options for every palate and proclivity. We’ll be back to the SPG, for sure.

This is a happy hour review, and we were impressed. The whole place was packed on a weeknight and there seemed to be many regulars, but we were welcomed and treated right. The owner was working the floor, always good to see. Happy hour menu goes above and beyond, even if the standards are a little odd. We had tender octopus with a lovely sauce, followed by a strange-tasting Caesar and a knockout Reuben with wimpy fries from fancy potatoes. Like I said, odd. We ended up here by accident but plan to make it back.

Came here for the first time yesterday and it seemed very busy. We decided to sit in the bar area and were given menus and water 10 minutes in. I noticed there were 6 tables sat in the back and 3 servers which should be enough for fifteen tables. Menu looked ok, kind of boring but maybe it’s good that is done well? I will never know. After flagging down the busboy to get a server, we still were not greeted or attended to. The worse thing about this whole experience is that they all congregated at the POS system by the bar and just shot the breeze while we were waiting. I cannot say anything about food or drink because they simple did not care enough to even greet us and get us started. I will not be back.

Food was really good — enjoyed the bread and salad starters. Service was friendly and prompt. Overall, I was pleased with the restaurant and would stop in if I was in the neighborhood again and wanted a fun, sit-down place to eat.

My girl works close to here and was needing a cocktail and an early dinner after work. Arrived around 6 and the front bar was crackin. Sadly happy hour drinks didn’t extend to the dining room which accounts for a half star gone. Our sever was super sweet. The mussels were incredible. My sausage was over cooked the goat cheese purée was incredible. The fish tacos app was enough for dinner but the black been were so watery that we drained them and changed plates. The fish was also over cooked. Spinach salad was large. Portions were large in general. While his place was fine, I probably won’t be back. Pretty boring and nothing special.

The Sandpoint Grill combined great food, service, and ambience. I highly recommend it. I would go there again. Family friendly too!

My friends and I love this restaurant and have made it a regular hangout spot. The staff is attentive and friendly, we especially love Jen, the bartender. ;) The food is fantastic and appropriately priced. Try the grapefruit drop, you won’t be disappointed.

NYE menu was once again a tongue pleaser at great value. We go to the grill on a regular basis, and they’re always friendly and fast. The menu doesn’t change much during the week, and it can get pretty crowded. If you come for happy hour, you better make it early!

We ate here last week on a Tuesday night and the place was packed – I wonder why? Maybe because it was Restaurant Week or maybe because it’s a neighborhoodie type place with an established clientele. The food is good, but there are plenty of places where the food is just as good with lots of empty tables on weekday nights. Food: Pretty good. Not great, but pretty good, and there’s nothing wrong with that. Hey, if more restaurants were«pretty good,» the world would be a better place. I had a burger(maybe a little better than pretty good), and a spinach salad(maybe a little less than pretty good). My companions had the fried chicken and schnitzel, both of which met with their approval. Prices are fair and reasonable. Service: I’m not a fan of the service here. Look, I like casual service. But I like servers who seem really interested in what you’re ordering and how you like your meal. I also like servers that you can identify – that is, servers who are dressed so that you can tell them from the customers. This place is kind of weird that way. Maybe it’s all family? In any case, servers here seem not to be all that interested in what they’re doing or, more importantly, how YOU’RE doing. They are also dressed in like they just walked in off the street. Would it be so hard to establish some sort of dress code, like«white shirt, dark pants»? I mean, the only way you can tell who works here is to watch who goes into the kitchen. Room: Nothing fancy, but comfortable. The place is in a cute little strip mall on the south side of Sand Point Way. It’s very, very, very, child friendly, and boy, were there a lot of them the night we were there. I like kids, as long as they are well behaved, and these sure were. Parking is on the street and seems like it would be pretty easy. I’ll be back, when I’m in the neighborhood. If you’re in the neighborhood(and we DO all go to University Village to shop sometimes), you might want to give it try too.

We shared a beet salad(which im going to try and recreate at home) and had burgers as well as the lemon cheesecake. All the food was really excellent. Really love the crunchy skinny fries and excellent service. Our first visit but definitely not our last. Thank you.

We’ve eaten at the Sand Point Grill several times during the past few years. The menu could best be described as upper end bar food, which is fine. The problem begins when the service is poor to hurried. You have to ask for bread, it’s not offered. My wife had fish Tacos, the fish was tasteless, the Pico de gallo was loaded with raw stinky onion. No other seasoning. I had better milk fried chicken. Green beans that were over cooked and greasy. The fast food chicken joints do better. Our waiter and separate server never bothered to ask how our meal was. They did do a good job of keeping my club soda glass full. The prices were reasonable, but what good is that if the food and service are poor. Counting the four visits over the past few years, twice the food was good, last time it was just OK and this time… well you read my review. I think this will be our last.

I go at least once a month and enjoy it all. The appetizers can be meals and be sure and look at the specials. Great for Kids and they eat free with a paid adult on Sunday’s — Tuesdays 5 — 6:30 pm.

Don’t let the kind of strip mall feeling deter you, the food here is actually pretty good. The service is, but somewhat slow and the entrees took a while to arrive. The beer selection was pretty good considering the location and the food was well made. The ambiance leaves a little to be desired, but can be overlooked for the food.

The menu looked great but the service so turned us off that we couldn’t wait to leave. Upon entering there is an awkward little waiting area. It took 5 minutes for anyone to even to knowledge us. Then the hostess(?) confirmed our name on her reservation list and turned and walked away — we thought to ensure our table is ready. After she got about 20′ away she realized we hadn’t followed her then she turned and said ‘Come on in.’ That was the beginning and end of our welcome. The busser brought our waters without comment and quickly retreated. Our server pointed out the prix fixe meal and said the soup is listed there and«that’s all I have to tell you about.» Later when after he asked if we needed anything additional, and my wife said that she was good, he responded, «I know you’re good but do you want any more snackies?» We had ordered the snack plate and it was great with a nice assortment of marcona almonds, olives, goat cheese, and shrimp. The beers were very fresh and promptly served. The ambience suffers from an identity crisis of awkward service from jeans-wearing staff, and an appearance of marginal strip-mall romance slammed against Chinese food court. The menu looked great but we couldn’t get past the awkward service. It’s probably our fault for not being great mind-readers.

I hooped by yesterday to have a couple drinks. I got a roasted beet salad OMG!!! It was fabulous roasted beet, Brussels sprout leafs, blue cheese w/cranberry vinaigrette. The burger was fine… Beer was really cheap $ 3 for happy hours. The bartender was nice. The thing of this place is there no one to seat us we had to wait for like almost 10 mins then we decided to grabbed the seats at the bar.

I’m hesitant to tell you how amazing this place is, for fear it will get more difficult to get a table. The chefs/owners are top notch and everything the send out front is killer. The mussels are by far the best I have ever had– and I have had a wide range. They are large plump and succulent in an aromatic broth with a touch of cream to finish. They make a wonderful burger, and amazing Weinersnitzle.

Not bad. I wanted to love this place, since it’s in the neighborhood, but it was just okay. Points for not overcooking my hamburger — it was actually still pink! Mom enjoyed her steak but the Mr.‘s steak was not awesome. What he got was about 1⁄3 fat and mostly inedible. Mom mentioned this to our server, who at first said, «Well, the cut comes with a lot of fat,» and appeared to leave it at that. She came back though, after speaking with the owner, and… the steak was comped. That won a couple points back. Service was acceptable — not stellar in any way, besides the owner making up for the steak. The menu is well-edited and not overwhelming, but I think there are better places to get this kind of food(comfort food, steak, a burger, etc) in the area. We probably won’t be back.
