Frank’s Oyster House & Champagne Parlor

I had brunch here while visiting my sister. I ordered an oyster and the brisket hash with bottomless mimosas. Now I realize these items don’t really go together but they were all delicious with a lovely presentation. The employees were friendly and timely, and the restaurant had a nice relaxing but modern vibe. Over all it was a great experience and I highly recommend brunch here.

The food is good, really a notch above good.
The service suffers. Forgotten items, forgotten tables, forgotten reservations. It’s not horrible, just noticeable.
Biggest thing is the herd of hipsters that’s overrun the place. We live nearby, we’ve been in a few times, but every visit comes with an increasing numbers of hipsters. If you enjoy listening to discussions of beard care, some crappy album that’s only available on vinyl and should only be played on a genuine Mickey Mouse record player circa 1983, and recipes for home brew and places that have not yet been discovered by ‘the regs’ then yes, this is the place for you.
If you find hipsters annoying, go somewhere else.

I’ve been to Frank’s multiple times and while it’s always good, my experience a few weeks back was exceptional. We started with the house made potato chips and feta dip. The chips were crispy and surprisingly light and the dip was full of flavor. The radishes and house made butter were out of sight! Simple, delicious perfection. I’m not even embarrassed to admit I ate the butter by itself when the radishes were gone. I could tell each radish (whether watermelon or Easter egg variety) were hand selected as the texture and taste of each was perfect… none has that woody texture or off putting spiciness radishes can often develop. Three of us at the table ordered the black cod. Each serving was plentiful and perfectly cooked! The dashi-​ess broth was beautiful too and the gnocchi were creamy nuggets of goodness. My boyfriend had the delectably crispy yet silly pork belly with tasty accoutrements. The pear upside down cake left a little to be desired, but the Cracker Jack ice cream was spot on!

I was looking forward to this place for weeks. I called to see the wait time and was told I should make a reservation. I did and my time was 7:30. I showed up at 7:10 we checked in and sat near the bar. At 7:40, I went to reservation desk because I saw people go in after us and be seated immediately. Keep in mind, when I checked in no one was on the list before us. I looked at it. So I went to the desk and was told to wait near the bar and they would get me when they «set our table.» Also, they asked if I wanted to just eat at the bar and I said no because I made a reservation from their recommendation. Besides, the bar area is cramped. The restaurant is super small and they have 10 – 11 tables on the restaurant side. While I was at the bar, I had a Manhattan and it was awesome!
As far as the food, the Dungeness crab appetizer was excellent but very tiny. The lobster rolls (2) are 3 – 3.5 inches long and an inch wide. I’m telling you this because I don’t want you to be surprised if you order it. I’m used to having pretty epicly huge lobster rolls so I was VERY disappointed. If you want a good lobster roll, go to Pike Place!

My dinner was amazing! I had what I can only describe as a deconstructed stroganoff: black pepper pappardelle w/​wild mushroom ragout, chervil-​walnut pesto, celeriac chips finished with Parmesan nage. It was such a bizarre description that I HAD to have it, and I absolutely didn’t regret the order! Such comforting warm homemade wide noodles, earthy mushrooms and smooth, creamy Sauce with a subtle nutty flavor. Delish!!!

Frank’s is located in my neighborhood so my parents regularly visit this spot. They suggested it for brunch on the morning of my birthday and I happily obliged. Parking on a Saturday is a nightmare, especially when there’s a Huskies game. But we eventually stumbled upon some street parking and I have no problem with walking. Frank’s has some really unique décor! None of the chairs match and it’s a good combination of rustic and funky, eclectic elements. My family and I started off with the zeppoli (Italian donuts covered in powdered sugar) which came with a berry compote and some marscarpone cheese. I had just gone to Italy a few months ago and it was just like being back! The zeppoli were light and airy and the cheese and berry compote added a nice sweetness. For an entrée I ordered the chicken and waffles. The chicken was juicy and had the perfect amount of kick. The waffle was actually seasoned and had a touch of vanilla. I hate when restaurants offer chicken and waffles and totally neglect the waffle! Overall, I was really satisfied with my birthday brunch and will definitely be back!

We came here on Sunday about 30 mins before they closed for a quick glass of rose and a little snack. They have a limited menu for Brunch on Sundays, and since we didn’t want a huge meal we had limited options.
Our service was a little weird — I’m assuming one of our gals was new and it was because they were getting close to closing (but there were other patrons there). our (I assume?) bus girl sat us and brought us water — we asked if they had any prosecco and she said she didn’t know so would ask. When she came back and handed us menus we ordered from her and she awkwardly told us to order from the bar tender who seemed a little irritated? We weren’t trying to be pushy at all, were confused who our server was — all our bus gal needed to do was say we’d order from the bar!
We had some oysters — which are always fantastic here. The staff is very knowledgeable about the different varietals and tastes. We also waited an abnormally long amount of time for a tiny piece of toast.
All in all it was a «fine» experience. I’ve been here a few times a year+ ago for HH and loved it but probably won’t rush back.

Oyster in da houz!
This is an okay neighborhood restaurants. I like the happy hour oysters and they present them on a block of ice. The other food is just okay. They try to create fancy dishes but the flavors are a miss. Radishes with butter? I don’t get it. The drinks are tasty.
This last Friday when we went the service was spotty. So many hands helping but no one was remembering to help! Another time I went the European waiter kept calling my friend’s daughter (who had short hair) «sir.» C’mon! We’re in Seattle! This shouldn’t be happening.

Went here for brunch last weekend. They had a malfunction with their reservations system, so we ended up waiting a while. But, due to the wait they paid for our drinks.
The food was delicious! I split the cheeseburger and the chicken and waffles with another person (we couldn’t decide what we wanted), and both were fantastic. The other people in our group also got the chicken and waffles and loved it was well.
I highly recommend this place for brunch, but make a reservation!

I came here for SRW and was quite pleased with that choice. Service was the only problem. It was just a bit slow at times, mainly just in the beginning to get our order in. I was dining with two others so we ended up trying almost all of the options on the SRW menu. To start we tried the fried oysters, the salad, and the clams and lamb sausage. All were good but the star was DEFINITELY the clams and lamb sausage. Holy crap that was a damn good dish. Generous portion and the broth was rich and perfect for a cold fall evening.
For entrees we tried the salmon and the chicken. The chicken was sadly a big disappointment. Overall just a very bland dish. The mashed potatoes on the side were pretty good but the protein itself was a miss. The salmon was quite good. Cooked well and the sides and sauce were good accompaniments.
For dessert make sure you get the chocolate whiskey cake. The cracker jack ice cream was so-​so but the whiskey cake is awesome. You get just enough of the whiskey taste to it and the chocolate isn’t too rich.
One random note is if it is a cold day/​evening, bundle up. There was a huge draft running throughout the restaurant and I looked around a most people in the restaurant were still wearing their outdoor jackets so I don’t think it was just my table being crazy :)

Went on a Saturday night to get a drink and a bite to eat and was very surprised how nice the place was and how good both the food and the drinks were. Also the bartender and entire staff was very friendly and seem to have apt of enthusiasm for the product they provide to the customers. I had a few of their manhattans and a cheese burger and fries. Both excellent. From what I hear from a few other customers is that the happy hour and brunch are very good.
I highly suggest this place.

Superb service and phenominal drinks and food. Loved the oysters, bloody marys, and beignes. The bartender was friendly and the rest of the staff and customers made for a lovely relaxing Sunday morning experience.

Since moving to Seattle half time, I’ve found that many Unilocal!ratings are hit or miss, and this place was no exception– it’s missing a well deserved extra star!
My boyfriend and I came here on a Saturday afternoon for brunch. Silly me, thinking this place would be packed, I made reservations online. We arrived at 12pm and the place was nearly empty– which didn’t seem like a good sign to me. Oh well I thought… we’re already here.
The menu was full of tasty sounding dishes, but we settled on the eggs Benedict with applewood smoked ham, and the cheeseburger and fries. So here’s the breakdown:
Eggs Benedict: Holy God, is this good! 2 poached eggs on English muffins, with super thin sliced applewood smoked ham in between. The muffins were perfectly toasted; the ham, fresh and incredibly tasty. All this goodness topped with an incredible hollandaise sauce that’s unlike any I’ve ever tasted. The hollandaise is tangy with a little zip to it– not spicy, just tasty and tangy– not lemon-​y– just very, very good. Served between these two mounds of deliciousness are chopped and fried cross-​sections of potatoes (also very good).
The applewood ham, with the tangy-​ness of the hollandaise and the egg as a binder work so well together. It’s really a new exciting and interesting flavor profile that’s a slight divergence from your standard ‘eggs Benny,’ that for sure you’ll be craving days later.
Cheeseburger and Fries: I know what you’re thinking– I just ranted and raved about the eggs Benny, there’s no way the cheeseburger could top that! Nope. Wrong. I honestly don’t know which plate I loved more. The cheeseburger, oh so simple– yet so many people get it wrong all the time. This cheeseburger is the cheeba dreams are made of. The cheeseburger was a perfectly seasoned, perfectly cooked medium patty topped with buttery lettuce, aged white cheddar and picked onions with just a little bit of louie sauce on a perfectly buttered brioche bun. This has to be one of my most favorite cheeseburgers I’ve personally ever had (and I’ve had quite a few). Usually I like to load up my cheeseburgers with tasty mayo and sauces, but with this one– it’s not necessary. The burger is so juicy and seasoned so well– I promise you won’t want to mask any flavor that’s going on between these buns! Even the french fries– I mean– this place is killin’ me ~ The shoestring fries, seasoned with parsley and I believe rosemary. They too were so incredibly perfect that I could eat them every day (if I wanted to die a slow, sad death).
Even the French press coffee was delicious– probably brewed with fresh water from unicorn tears or something.

It took a little while (about ²⁰⁄₂₅ minutes) for the food to come out, but its deliciousness was worth the wait.

Arrived when they opened for there great happy hour menu. The place was pretty empty but as the night went on the place got packed.
The happy hour menu is great! With drink and food deals!!! And through out the whole restaurant during the first happy hour. The late night is is parlor only.
Tried the poutine, po boy sliders, wings, the free range chicken, and some oysters.
Everything was delicious!!! The wings had great flavor but were not crispy. The sliders super yummy but crazy tiny. The plugin was perfect!!! The free range chicken was amazing! Loved the biscuit, the mashed potatoes and gravy! And the chicken was perfectly crispy and cooked!
Serves was great! My water glass was ways full!
Can’t wait to come back for the chicken and some bubbly!

It was a full house, but our food still arrived fairly quickly. The price point matches the quality of the dishes. We ordered:
–4 oysters
–goat cheese deviled eggs
–steak tartare
–clams and lamb sausage
–fried free range chicken
–ice cream sundae (which by the way is not your traditional sundae, but absolutely delicious!)
Every single thing we ordered was simply amazing and very satisfying. Our check was ~$ 76, which is spectacular considering the quantity and quality of the things we ordered. Service is also very friendly and attentive. Will definitely return.

I looooove this place!
What a great date place. We had a choice of 3 local oysters. I also tried the baked ones. Not a fan of the baked ones, but the regular ones were served very beautifully on a very fancy bar of ice! I thought the presentation of all the food was thoughtful and yet not over-​the-​top. I also had a nice wedge salad and it was fantastic.
Franks seemingly had a nice selection of wines and beers, but I stuck with La Fleur cab and it was so good with dinner. I sat in a little enclave in the bar with 2 love seats facing each other. It was a cozy intimate little nook and I enjoyed the private conversation I could have with my friend. The bartender was astoundingly friendly and helpful, knew his products, and was very communicative about timing with the food. I appreciate the environment, food, and staff on all fronts and will be happy to come back soon to try more food! Brav.

Husband and I had a great meal here. The bar is rustic, assembled with raw wood and square pallets nailed together. Mismatched, funky antique furniture.
Great food, superb drinks and you must order the banana split!

My husband and I enjoyed happy hour in the bar before a restaurant week dinner in the main dining room.
Happy hour was delightful:
house white wine: crisp and refreshing
half dozen oysters: $ 1.50 each during happy hour. I think we had kusshi oysters? they were good but small.
mini pork tacos: the pork has a great flavor atop a small 2″ tortilla. you get three tacos and they are each bite size.
chicken wings: eh. the flavor was nice but they could have used crispier skin.
oyster po boy sliders: these were probably the best thing we had during happy hour — really nice cajun remoulade that paired perfectly with the cornmeal fried oyster. But like everything else, the sliders were very small. the three sliders were just slightly bigger than bite size.
Dinner was hit and miss:
goat cheese deviled eggs: too strong a goat cheese flavor for me without any of the normal delicious flavors you get with a deviled egg
wedge salad: good but served with way too much dressing that was something close to ranch dressing
nettle soup: nice, subtle flavors pairing well with the dollop of cream provided
cornmeal fried oysters: delicious — really well cooked and a good size
sous vide tri tip: not one of their regular items and not something anybody would miss out on. the meat was tough and chewy. had this been the only thing I ordered, I would not ever go back to Frank’s.
luckily, we had also ordered the halibut which was perfectly cooked and delicious.
rhubarb bread pudding: big portion size and nice flavor
whiskey cake: so-​so, not a strong whiskey flavor and not particularly memorable.
all in all, i think they do seafood and particularly, the oysters and halibut, really well. happy hour wont make you full but the wine is good! we’re not in a rush to come back but i think we’ll find ourselves at Frank’s again sometime.

Frank’s is just a few streets away from my place and I’ve been looking for decent hh food nearby. Unfortunately this wasn’t the place for me. My gf and I ordered the bacon and chive popcorn, spring rolls, and poutine.
There was no discernible bacon in the popcorn so we surmised that the kernels were popped in bacon grease. It was salty, oily and unremarkable. The spring rolls were fresh and stuffed with vermicelli. The hoisin sauce was a nice, sweet compliment, but we both wish there had been a protein component. We were split on the poutine. Kyla found them too salty and didn’t like that the fries were made from skin-​on potatoes. I liked the beechers cheese (I love a sharp cheddar), though they were a bit greasy.
I decided to try an oyster, but I didn’t like it. It tasted like the ocean. I love the ocean but I don’t want to eat a cold, slimy, chewy bite of it at happy hour. You live and you learn.
Overall the crowd was a little old for me, and nothing I tried blew me away, but I might be back to try the oyster po’ boy. Maybe the ocean tastes better deep fried.

I completely forgot about this lil hidden gem. It’s kind of off in its own lil neighborhood… But well worth the effort of a trip.
We were a group of 9 for a friends going away party– luckily we made a reservation two weeks out, but good luck seating if you don’t call ahead.
We started the night off with a few small plates to share. Oysters we’re obviously a must– very Delish! The goat cheese deviled eggs were a party in my mouth! I’d never think to combine that combo but franks definitely pulled it off! The most amazing small plate was the roasted cauliflower with celery purée. It was all I could do to not lick the plate clean! Highly recommend!!!
I chose the halibut as my main course which I was mostly satisfied with. Herein lies my missing star. The flavor was spot on but the fish was a tad on the dry side. I also wasn’t a fan of the undercooked (basically raw) spinach style (looked like spinach but tasted like a bitter collard green) veggie plopped on top of the fish.
Overall, the ambiance and tasty food was a hit and our group throughly enjoyed ourselves.
I’ll be back for those deviled eggs and cauliflower!
