Wish I had read the previous reviews about pens. I actually bought one, got home and saw that it was scratched badly. After doing some research, I’m convinced it’s a knock off. Took it back and Ray, the manager, says they’re not «set up» to give refunds. Both guys working there swore they buy from the manufacturer. And you know what, I believe them, if by «manufacturer», they are referring to whoever manufactures the knock-​off pens. Save yourself the headache and just buy it from the original manufacturer yourself.

This store didn’t open on time — was supposed to open at 10:00 but I’ve waited for 30 minutes. I gave up and left.

Huge selection, great prices and courteous service. I chose this place over the competitor down the street based on reviews that I read and wasn’t disappointed. I stopped by the other place afterward to double check and was glad I did. It wasn’t even in the same ballpark.

Dude this place… Got a FAT ASS bong on clearance. Couldn’t be happier. Great selection, awesome pieces, sweet prices, and the guy there was super nice. Great place if you are unsure what you want, or if you know exactly what you’re looking for.

Bomb tobaccos for spliffs, fuck with the halfzware shags (danish export, or any of the bali shags, dont even fuck around with the other things because. well I just dont know why youd want to if Im telling you to your face right now what you want).
Argue for better pricing. Careful they dont pull a fast one and end up raising prices on you.
Oh and if you see me out there — dont come up to me man. Ill be blazin and be about to do it again and just dont give a fuck whats good.

SCENE ONE:
A single light hangs above a neon sign. SAM’S flashes into the night.
A door opens and a man staggers in from the darkness into the flood that Sam points at the door. The Ave rats were getting thicker lately. It’s always a good idea to see the look in their eyes before they see yours.
Sam loosens up at the register when the bell rings before looking up from Headshop Quarterly. He flicked his gaze toward the opening door when a wingtip brushed against the new kickplate that he installed last week. Not a familiar sound. Sam didn’t like the unfamiliar.

Sams is the king of the ave headshops. They just have to be busier than all kinds of different metaphor about busy people, man. You know what I mean? With the stories? Cool.
Anyway, what was I saying? Oh yeah, Sam is this guy with this store that’s totally next to that phở place and that sandwich place.
SAM:
«Oh it’s you. I thought I banned you last time.»

Crisp hundred dollar bills were overflowing out of his fists.
He grinned. There were Cheetos in his teeth. He bumps into a display case. The glassware rattles briefly. This ruined the charm of the money spell, but it was still alright.
Sam feels a knot in his back relax and goes back to half-​listening to a rerun of Friends being played on a half broken black and white 80s Japanese portable tv on the floor behind the counter. That Chandler. Lolz.

First of all-​prior to entering, all reviews saying that this place is kind of shady have been confirmed at face value. However, we went to Puffin’ Glass Studios first (which looks reputable) looking for something very specific. (a dabber setup for my friend’s bong). We didn’t find it, and asked the guy if he knew of anywhere else that might have it in the area-​he replied, «no.» Kind of a jerk salesman, imo. Anyway, I come across «Sam’s Smokes» on Unilocal and it says that this place is THE BEST in the area, but a little shady.
Whatever, how shady could it be, if this place has been open and doing business for this long? Well they had exactly what we needed! All the pieces totalled to $ 20 and the other place was $ 100 and they didn’t even have everything we needed!
They look like they will have everything at this place. and I mean everything… Also, don’t bother trying to haggle with these guys. And $ 0.50 credit charge fee.

Kind of a «dressed-​down» environment. Good selection for reasonable prices. They have some great glass pieces. The Roor’s that they had for sale weren’t authentic, though (not the worst thing ever if the price is right for the fakes). Great for having the little things like papers, especially with their late hours.

This place is good for a lot of things like hookah. It also has good inexpensive glass. I have boughten a bowl piece from here for a cheap low quality water pipe and my friend has bought two water pipes and his hookah from here. I personally would never buy glass from here because I like higher quality stuff in which I go to piece of mind to get

they used to have these weird cigs called Camel Twists even tho it was illegal. now THATS what i call stickin’ it 2 the man. they were orange flavored. i liked em.

first things first: the zippo counter: there are so many zippos to be looking at. they have big ones and smaller onces. they have gold colored zippos. i hav e always though tzippos are really coool. especially the ones that cowboys use like (with the american flag on it God Bless Our Troops).
now onto the cigarettees. they GOT EM ALL! camels, marlbrords, pyramid cigarettes, parliaments, american spirit cigs, pall malls newports, camel turkish blends, wierd turkish cigarettes (tekels) black and mild swishers, grape swishers, kamel with a k.
the prices are pretty a’ight. but TURN AROUND!
whats that behind u? is that a bong i see? oh dang is that like 40 bongs? sign me UP~ you can get a ROOR bong here those bongs hit so good. its like smoking water. if you have never smoked ganja out of a roor bong you have never smoked ganja period. because this is a smoking experience that will leave you begging for more. nothign can compete with a smooth hitting glass roor bong. i especially like the percolaters they make a cool bubble noise and get u even higher.
so buy a bong an a pack of newporrt reds if you please. Thats the Derek Style Visit. they also sell salvia (which i HAVE done) and they also sell that weird legal herb sh*t which i have NOT done. keep it on the DL about salvia tho dont ruin this legal miracle for everyone else. just sprinkle a little on your joint and you will be flying high. i would not recomend using the ROOR bong to smoke salvia unless you like drolling cuz yr so high.
so yeh Sam has the smokiest smokes on record and i HIGHLY RECCOMEND you buy all of ur smoking needs from here then hit up the mee sum pastry for them munchies.

I love this smoke shop, they have a good selection, fair prices (not super cheap, but they are pretty centrally located)

Sam’s Smokes is by far the best smoke shop to go to. The staff, although busy, are always friendly and love to make deals. They have a huge selection of pieces, as well as multiple types/​flavors of shisha. My friends and I are huge hookah enthusiasts, and by smoking at least 4x/​day I go through a lot of shisha. Sam’s definitely has the best value, and best prices (especially if you use cash) and if you’re friendly to the staff and become a regular, you’re treated like family. I live pretty far north but it’s worth the drive for the variety, prices, and friendly faces.

Watch out for this shop’s low end glass water pipes. I bought one that broke the second time it was used. Since I’d had bad experiences with other smoke shop products, I asked whether I could return this pipe if it was defective. An employee assured me I could do that.
When I tried to exchange it today for a more expensive pipe, the first employee was not on duty. His sidekick called me a liar, even though he had been in the store and heard his partner give me a verbal warranty. The nasty sidekick said they never took back defective merchandise. This place sells defective junk and rips off its customers. I will not be back.

Well I have been shopping at Sam’s Smokes off and on since 2004. Products are usually cheap… Think chinese production pieces. Or quickly done mass produced local work. Also vapes, hooka, gravity bongs, cigs, and other things.
I moved to recently. I want one particular item so I called to see if they had it in stock. They did… I asked a price and he said he would not quote me a price over the phone… «We have the best prices in town.» Well I live in fary away now. I am not going to drive all the way to the University District, find parking, and go in to buy a product if you will not even tell me the price. I know how much it is on the net… I know how much it is everywhere else.
btw I have spent well over $ 1,000 at this shop… I was about to spend another $ 199 but because you will not quote me a price I was very hesitant to come in and buy anything.
Prices are the cheapest. Just don’t expect any help over the phone.
Would be 5 Stars but the lack of price quoting on the phone bugs me.
I went back the next few days to pick up another thing. Was a good price and I like the product. Cheaper then getting it off the main products web site before shipping

I’ve been a customer at Sam’s for over 5 years and they have started scamming customers with vaporizers on Craigslist.
I bought one and it had broken pieces in the box. Tried to return but they did not take responsiblilty. I posted on Unilocal about this and they messaged me saying that they would give me a free pipe if I took the bad review down.
I went in there last month and asked about the free pipe since I took the review down. They acted like they didn’t know anything and just shook me off.
I gave you 2 chances to make up for what you did Sams. /​dissapointed

A few months ago I really really wanted a chillum. I hate bongs and spoons, because I once (okay, okay, TWICE) accidentally burned my thumb while trying to light up. And one of those times I burnt off half my thumbnail (and I was completely sober at the time). I have no idea how that’s possible, but now I’m EXTREMELY leary of any device that I have to light vertically.
Most of the other head shops in the U District I went to didn’t have a very large selection of chillums, and/​or their chillums were overpriced and/​or poorly designed and/​or ugly. Yes, I’m a girl, and yes, the beauty of my piece matters. Sam’s has the largest and prettiest selection of chillums… so if you’re looking for a chillum, go here first. (I would also recommend the place on 45^th by Deep Roots – they have reasonable prices and they also had a pretty good selection of chillums when I went.)
If you’re looking for salvia, Sam’s also has the largest selection at the best prices out of the shops I visited ($ 20 cheaper for the same 40atomiX purple sticky salvia).

Sam’s is awesome. Good selection, good prices, and the guy who owns the place and possibly lives there is really cool. He’s almost always on the telephone but always has time to help you with anything. I think he’s talking because he’s bored more than that he’s too busy to help his customers. He gives away free stuff if you spend a bunch. If you’re in the know, you buy your para at Sam’s.

As an herbal enthusiast, most keen on extracting the sweet aromas from various completely legal herbs to freshen the air in my home, much like one might use a stick of totally legal incense, I HAD to buy this herbal vaporizer called a volcano. If you haven’t seen it, you probably aren’t reading this review.
These things, as you are no doubt aware, run in the 550 — 650 dollar range. So clearly, you only get one if you REALLY care about freshening the air in your home with only the purest, entirely legal herbal vapor-​extractions, such as I, myself, very much do.
Well, good old Sam comes to the rescue again. I had enquired about the price as I could get one on ebay, new for 539 with free shipping and no sales tax. With tax it’s 545 or so. I said to hell with it, I’m already here, and the … incense I’ve been burning… several, several times a day for the last year… has proved a tad carcinogenic and seems to have produced a bit of chronic, uh, productive, cough with uh… well, let’s just say it looks like I’m a fireman. Which I’m not. So you see, it’s really a health investment for me. But I digress.
So then he’s like «You paying with cash or card?» «Oh, you won’t take a check?» I asked, hoping to get a rise out of him.
«BAAAHAHAHA! No. Now you pay with cash or card?» He was completely unfazed. «Well, card, then, I guess.»
«I tell you what my friend, if you pay with cash, I can do it foooooor… 530, okay?» Hell yes that’s okay!
Several ridiculous conundrums later and I had cash. Long story short, I got a great deal on a brand spanky Volcano. The man is a deal maker, I’m telling you. Biiig smiles on his face last night. I love this guy! If he didn’t smell of roasted goat I’d kiss him.
