The sandwiches are the proverbial bomb. The service is great, the beer is cold, and you’ll leave thinking«well worth the money.» I’ve been here multiple times to buy their steaks as well to cook at home. My buddy married a girl who’s parents own a black angus cattle ranch. I cooked these steaks up for her and even she was like, «daaaaaaamn.» So go eat a sandwhich, get a steak, and make your whole day a little bit better.

Oh lordy, so good! At the overwhelming recommendation of many Unilocalers, I got the Porchetta. What a sandwich! There wasn’t a single ingredient that wasn’t used to perfection. The whole things just looked amazing. The colorful green sauce and veggies, the seasoned meat, and the glorious bread. I actually had to show it to my co-worker just because it looked like something that would get ridiculous amounts of upvotes on Reddit. Something you would see a picture of and immediately feel hungry and/or regret the pathetic meal you ate in its place. This is a sandwich that markets itself. No, I did not just stare at it and ogle in its greatness. I ate it and it was gewwwwd! The pork was perfection. Great savory flavor and wonderful seasoning. It was cubed, but the green sauce kept it glued to the inside of the sandwich. A lesser sandwich would’ve seen many of the pieces fall out often as cubed meat doesn’t usually stay in bread well. The green sauce, I think, is pesto-derived, but not exactly pesto. It was definitely on par with some of the best pesto I’ve ever had though and worked brilliantly with this sandwich. Complimented the savory with a hint of sweet and earthy flavors. Pork and pesto is not something I’ve had before, but will try again in other forms. The bread was phenomenal. Perfectly toasted to not be too soft or too crunchy and crumbly. Harder breads are my favorite, so this was right up my alley. Even soft bread lovers should enjoy it though. The flavor was that of the best artisan baguettes I’ve ever had. I want loaves of this to make my own sandwiches with. I also got a side of potato salad, and while it looked like it was going to be unique and interesting, because they use huge slices of potatoes, it ended up disappointing. I actually find grocery store deli potato salad to be better. This seemed to try too hard to be different and it doesn’t really work. Presentation, again, is A+, but taste is like a C. Overall, my meal was $ 16 and while that is pretty expensive for a sandwich, I regret absolutely nothing and would gladly pay that much again. My request: PLEASE try your hand at making a grilled cheese!

Rain Shadow was our last stop before heading to the airport, since it is ridiculous to settle for airport food when there are such fantastic options out there in the city! The hours were shortened for the holiday weekend, but we were able to place a phone order and grab our sandwiches before closing, which was a total score! THEOVERVIEW. + Good variety of sandwich options and other meat-based treats + In-doors seating to enjoy your meal and a drink or 2 + Reasonably priced items considering the quality and work that goes into everything + The porchetta is incredible — get this!!! + The lambwich is delicious as well, but could use a bit of a kick — I advise bring your own hot sauce! I will happily be back for a solid sandwich, especially since their hours aren’t as restrictive as Salumi’s(my other true love).

An accidental find on Occidental made me wanting more of this tasty fare. However, I only was able to dine one lunch meal this stay in the rainy city and will not forget the Porchetta sandwich prepared to perfection. We will«meat» again Rainbow Meats, no doubt!

Love this place. That porchetta sandwich is seriously good food. Its hard not to get anything else here because that sandwich is mouthwatering fantastic! Nice thick sammy!!! Where this place rises to the top is they do not spare anything. This seriously is a punch in the face of sandwich goodness. I once ate that porchetta while i was walking like a piglet to my car. I had food on my face hands and i didn’t give a care because i was in bliss with this sandwich love. Me and this sandwich have had some serious brawls and i always come out victorious having devoured the whole damn thing every time but a little beaten and battered from the duel. When i do stop here i usually get a few things to go for dinner Great butcher as well. 5 stars, hell this place should get 100000 stars if i could give them that. Been going since i found it years ago and its of my favorite butcher/deli establishments hands down. I thought i had reviewed this place years ago so long overdue.

Went at 11PM on Friday and we were the first one in the store. We still had to wait 10 mins for a sandwich, so I think I would call in, if you are short on time. Our group got the Morty(mortadella sandwich, very flavor with I think olive tapenade), Dipper(French dip with shredded beef), Ranger(steak sandwich, looks really good), Corned beef. Everybody loved their sandwiches. Fun atmosphere since you can watch them butchering large chunks of meat on site. Recommended.

When I moved to Seattle, I thought it was hopeless to try and find a corned beef sandwich as good as Zingerman’s from my home town. Today, I think I might have found it. Perfect corned beef, rye toasted and cut exactly right, and amazing coleslaw and stone-ground mustard. Pickled veggies on the side were a nice touch. Definitely the best sandwich I’ve had in Seattle in the last few years. Prices are on the high end for a normal sized sandwich, but still totally worth it.

Summary: Delicious sandwiches. Expect to wait 15 minutes for a sandwich around lunch time. Reasonable prices. Great quality. Does not accept American Express(Amex). Four coworkers and I went to Ran Shadow at around 12:20pm on a Tuesday to get some sandwiches to go. When we arrived, the place was abuzz with diners eating as well as many people waiting for orders to take out. We made our way to the cashier to briefly peruse the menu, then put in our orders and waited 15+ minutes or so for them to be prepared. I ordered the Dipper with a side kale salad. The beef was super tender, the carmelized onions perfectly cooked, the cheese nicely melted, the horseradish sauce tasty and balanced, the bread excellently toasted, and the au jus warm and savory. Really, an excellent sandwich. The kale salad was simple, but tasty and fresh as well. Everyone else’s sandwich was also really good. We’d definitely come back again.

I never give anything 5 stars. I haven’t even fully explored their menu, but I got a steak sandwich for lunch one day and it was mind blowingly over the top outrageous.

Yum! I had the porchetta sandwich, side of potato salad and the shandy. I’ll start with the shandy, it’s definitely a bit pricey at $ 6 but the celery soda added a nice touch of flavor and was very refreshing. The potato salad was forgettable unfortunately, and even as a $ 2.50 add on, I would pass on it in favor of the kale salad. The porchetta was amazing! I should mention that I had a couple of pieces of pork that were on the dry side, but for the most parts it was definitely juicy. Huge portion, great flavor, a touch oily but definitely worth it!

Oh man, this is my kind of geologically-significant-weather-pattern-themed business! A butcher shop offering meats from locally-sourced ranchers, as well as tasty, delicious sandwiches made with said meats? Yeah, it’s a fairly awesome concept. Direct sourcing is good, see? Anyway, what matters most, outside of the quality of ingredients, are: flavor, ambiance and service. All three are delivered in spades here. The spot is hip, and you can watch the butchers breaking down meat in the open kitchen. Protip — don’t bring your vegan friends, for this reason alone. From there, you can browse meats in the case, including both raw(for taking and cooking) and cured(for eating as charcuterie or in sandwiches). If you dine in, there’s a menu and you can sit and be served. There’s also a counter for to-go options. Sandwiches dominate the menu, and they’re good. Real good. But there are two salads on there, and some interesting charcuterie options. You can pick meats and eat them and go to the case and pick more, and repeat. Served up with tasty pickles, crostini and various accoutrement. Service is friendly and on point. Not sure what more I could ask for. Tasty, good spot, quality ingredients, solid service, and lots of meat. The whole package.

Had the pleasure of trying my first sandwich at Rain Shadow Meats. Oh man delicious! I ordered the Porchetta, so I’m going to have to make my comparison with Salumi. Price about the same, I’ll say flavor ALMOST as good, bread is much, much better. Service was friendly, sadly sandwiches do take about 10 minutes, but I do like how they are open on game day and for some reason the line was non existent. So that’s always a plus. I do like how they serve beer as well. Place is nice, large and clean. Definitely going to be a stop on gameday for me.

I had walked past this place a couple times on my way to Seahawks games, but this was my first time eating here. First, I need to go on the record that Seattle needs more butchers/sandwich places. It is not a fancy place, but is comfortable. I had what they call a lambwich – with lamb, pesto, pickled fennel and more on French bread. Let it be known that I love lamb, a very under-rated meat. It was a good, solid sandwich. My only complaint is that the fennel overpowered the lamb. If your slogan is «eat meat» let the meat shine. This is getting to common where the condiments overpower the meat. Put them in a salad if you want your customers to eat them. They are also kind of slow(they do warn it will take 10 minutes, but still). I will definitely be back – but perhaps will just have meat with bread. I also will probably pick up some brats or the porterhouse, which looked great in the butcher window

I don’t end up downtown often, so I like to have a good lunch whenever I do. I also love me some sandwiches. I’ll go out of my way for a good deli. I’ve had Rain Shadow meats before in other establishments, so I thought I would try an actual location. It’s a metzgerie and a restaurant. While I was there, they pulled out a side of beef that they started to butcher. It gives you some perspective on what you are consuming when you watch them deftly slice into the thing that Rocky used as a training implement during a cold soviet winter. You can get your butcher’s meat or you can sit down at the bar or communal tables and have a sandwich. It seems like generally you order at the counter and they bring you your food. However, I sat at the bar area near the open kitchen and they brought me a menu, food, bill and I had complete tableside service; but it was pretty slow when I was there so I don’t know if that is the usual. The service was quick and pretty friendly. I had a corned beef sandwich with a side salad and a beer. It was all very good. The sandwich had a red cabbage mayonnaise slaw, cheese, on toasted rye(I think it was rye). I asked for no additional mayo and I’m glad I did, because the slaw gave it just the right amount of wet, any more and it would have seemed sloppy. The corned beef was good, it wasn’t too salty and had good flavor. There wasn’t a whole ton of it, it was definitely not your east coast piled high kinda sandwich. The salad was good. The beer was cold. It came with a ramekin of pickled vegetables. I LOVEPICKLES and I wasn’t expecting them, so big ups for the pickles. So the thing that brings my rating down to a three, soft four is the price… like WHOAH. A sandwich, add-on salad, and beer, after tip was $ 30.00. Dayum. Lunch time food for dinner time prices.

Came here to grab a quick lunch. Uh big mistake. It took 20 minutes to get my sandwich to go… Yes, my sandwich was good but was it worth $ 13!!! No way. I should of known it would take forever to get my food cause there was a line of people waiting. I thought, «dang this place must be so good.» I got the morty sandwich, recommendation by the cashier. It was good but it was also super salty. I liked the bread they used. I would try their other sandwiches but they are all priced at $ 11+. for a SANDWICH! Yes the meat is good quality but I wouldn’t pay that much. Paeseos isn’t even this expensive.

Let’s start by saying that I love the fact that a butcher shop and a restaurant are integrated into one place. Apparently, this is a thing here in Seattle, cause this is the second place(after The Butcher and the Baker) where I see this combo and I absolutely love it. The decoration is pretty awesome and the brick wall and the huge ceilings give this place a lovely character. There is a nice bright dining area and you can also opt to sit at the counter and see the butchers chopping up meat. When we got here on a Saturday afternoon, there was no line and we went right in. But once you pick up the menu, you will realize that the sandwiches are anything but healthy. I tried to go with what seemed to be pretty standard, «Corned Beef» and I also ordered it without mayo. Turns out, there is some extra mayo in the sandwich from the cole slaw(and by some, I mean a loOt)!! But other than that, it was pretty good. Other people in my party ordered The«Chorizo sandwich» which was way too spicy for my liking; and the«Dipper sandwich» which was oaky. I also ordered a «green salad» and that was okay as well, the dressing was too salty and IMP it is the dressing that makes or breaks a salad. So overall, the dishes did not wow me. So far Seattle has been pretty amazing in terms of food and the standards are much higher now!!! But the ambience is definitely inviting.

Boss of all Bosses I can’t even begin to tell you how boss this place is. Like if you’re on the last stage of Super Mario and you’ve beat Bowser and outcomes a bigger badder boss, this would be it. Paseo might be in danger! The porchetta sandwich is ree-donk-you-lous! I don’t know where they get their bread, but I would like to take the bakers daughter out on a date(or son?!). Porchetta sandwich in combination with the steak tartar two hit combo knockout! Goldilocks Zone Not too empty, not too crowded, just perfect. You know Unilocalers did their job when the line goes out the door and it’s annoyingly hard to find a seat, it seems as though not many have caught on to this place yet. One Stop Shop They offer an assortment of cured meats, fresh meats, pates, sandwiches, salads, entrée plates, cheese, and even beer! And bonus points for having an amazing location next to an oyster bar!

Awesome sandwiches. Their porchetta is amazing. The weirdest thing about this place is the sandwich is super inconsistent between visits. Sometimes it has these crunchy fried things and sometimes it doesn’t. The pork belly sometimes is super salty and sometimes just right. The sandwich is also pricey at $ 15 but if you get it on the right day it is very worth it. One of the best hot sandwiches I’ve ever had. Their outdoor seating area is cool in spring and summertime.

Wow. About a month ago or so I knew I was going to go to Seattle after I was done my business trip in Vancouver. I had asked the Seattle Talk forum about«must go to places» in Seattle. Well this place Rain Shadow Meats Squared was mentioned as a place I have to go to. I was like if Corinna K. says that I must go here I will. Somebody that emphatic about how good their sandwiches are must mean it. I took Corinna’s advice today and I learned that this person knows what they are talking about because damn… to say that the food was impressive would be an egregious understatement. I would just hate to throw it out there and say that these two sandwiches were the best I ever had because it sounds like a cliché perhaps but seriously… I only sampled two of the many sandwiches and wow. These sandwiches were simply too good to just dismiss as «really very good». They are more but how do I say that in words? Simple. The only thing I can do is reiterate the advice that Corinna K gave me, «DEFINITELY go to Rain Shadow Meats Squared for delicious, delicious sandwiches.» So I had ordered the«Rain Shadow Press» described as «house-made roast beef & mortadella, fra’ mani salami, soprastta, provolone, mama lil’s, red bell pepper, cucumber, arugula, ciabatta 12(dollars). My wife ordered the porchetta described as «whole roasted pork belly & loin, sauce verte, french bread 13(dollars). The taste and freshness of these sandwiches? Well put it this way we sat at the counter right beside the cash register. It’s a flat counter and on the other side is the kitchen. Yes I can see everything that is going on from the bread getting cut to meat being shaved to cheese being cut. The kitchen is in FULL view and I’m not talking a kitchen that I can see through a hole in the wall, there is NO wall. I can see the counters, everything going on from the waist up. These are made right in front of you yes they are fresh. I also ordered a «cup» of split pea soup for 3 dollars that was funny because it came in a bowl which made me wonder what the 6 dollar bowl was like. My sandwich the Rain Shadow Press? amazing… what a combination of some of my favorite meats and cold cuts and a great tasting provolone and balance of crisp vegetables. The bread? A proper ciabatta, not the«Wonder bread» version from Wendy’s. This is a real proper«harder» ciabatta bun. I loved my sandwich and then I got to eat what my wife couldn’t finish of her porchetta sandwich… Wow what an amazing taste. The pork belly was so tasty mixed with the pesto and the PERFECTLY toasted French stick was simply divine. The simplicity of this sandwich and the way the bread was done was just so delicious. I was very full when we left this restaurant. I was completely satisfied with the food served at this restaurant and as far as I am concerned this review shows the power of Unilocal. If not for my being a member of Unilocal I maybe would not have asked for advice from locals in Seattle. To have been given the recommendation for this place I honestly feel LUCKY to be given this information freely because it was an absolutely wonderful experience to visit Rain Shadow today. Wow. If you’re going to Seattle visit this place and do yourself a favor. FYI the wifi from Starbucks next door works in here.
