Jason did an excellent job for us. We started out at the point of his suggestions and advice — no direct services. Later, we reached another decision point and he laid out several options for us, based on a range of complexity and cost. We made our decision from within those options and left our laptop. We later came back and it was in exactly the condition we’d hoped for. The pricing was very reasonable.

When it comes to data recovery, this is the one and only place in Seattle to get the job done right! I was backing up my MacBook Pro and started hearing a rather noticeably loud whirring sound. I brought my backup drive (I won’t mention the brand) to PC-​Fix, filled out the paperwork and was told it would take a bit of time for a diagnosis on what the issue was. I got a call back within 48 hours; received the quote to fix it; and voila! The data was recovered plus they backed it up to a new backup drive. Fast, reliable, honest! Plus, there’s ample off street parking on 15^th Avenue NE. The only minus is the inordinate amount of traffic on Lake City Way. You might want to time your visit on LCW off-​peak hours as in don’t even think about visiting the store at 4 PM!

I’m incredibly disappointed with the service I received at PC Fix.
I dropped my computer off on ⁹⁄₁₁. I told them that I had tried to re-​install the operating system but that it wasn’t working correctly. I offered to give them the discs I used but they said they didn’t need them. I was told that it would cost about $ 50 to diagnose the computer’s problem and that their average turn around time was 5 days. That sounded quite reasonable. I asked them to please call and let me know if it was going to cost more than the initial diagnosis fee and he assured me they would discuss any additional fees with me ahead of time.
I heard nothing for 8 days, so I called to check on the status. The man I spoke with said he was working on it right that second and he thought it was overheating.
I heard nothing back for 3 more days and then I got another call, which was a bit ridiculous. The man who called said «It looks like somebody tried to re-​install the operating system.» I replied that I had said exactly that when I dropped it off. He asked which disks I used and I told him the ones I had tried to give him when I dropped off the computer. I asked him if he needed them. He said no, he thought they might be damaged and he would re-​install using their disks. Fine.
I received an e-​mail invoice from them on ⁹⁄₂₆ for $ 218.89. Nobody discussed those charges with me at all, ever. The invoice also gives no indication that my computer is actually fixed. I cannot actually pay the invoice online, because, as the invoice states «PC Fix — Seattle does not accept online payments right now.» But they send them out via e-​mail? Oddly low-​tech for a computer repair company.
It is now October 1 and I have heard nothing more. I am unable to reach anybody at the shop. I have left multiple, increasingly angry messages, but no call back. I’m beginning to wonder if they lost my computer. I hope they see this review and call me back. It is sad that that seems to be my only hope for hearing back from them.

Great help with solving pc issues & repairs. Have used them several times on different computers & always received satisfactory results.

Last wednesday I picked up my new computer and am very happy with it. Matt explained everything to me I am not very computer literate. He did not talk down to me but explained in a manner that was easy to follow. The customer service was terrific. Matt phoned when he said he would for an update and the computer was ready even a little sooner than expected. Matt is not only great with computers he is great with customer service. I will be happy to recommend Matt and PC Fix to all my friends and neighbors.

I’m pretty decent with computers, so when I couldn’t figure out why my laptop wasn’t turning on I brought it to PC Fix.
Turns out the power jack was defective. They said they could get it done in 5 days but I was surprised when they called me back two days later to tell me the computer was fixed! Thanks Matt!

I had a problem with my power jack which they promised to be done in 4 days, but they keep delaying it to 2 weeks. They didnt even contact me when they had to postponed the date

My Dell laptop crashed in the middle of a big project (one requiring travel), holding my data, reports and calendar hostage. I called Dell support right away. Fortunately some voice in the very back of my traumatized brain told me to disregard the totally inappropriate and rude behavior of the Dell technician, and reminded me of my entirely successful previous experience at PC Fix. I called PC Fix and was instantly reminded of why I love this company. The person answering the phone (Matt, I’m pretty sure) helped analyze the problem on the spot. He gave me a best guess diagnosis and some options to consider. Even though it sounded pretty serious and maybe as if I should just buy a new laptop, I took my laptop in and talked with Jason about my challenge. After asking some questions, Jason said, «I will get this on the bench right away.» Music to my ears! Yes! Thank you! Jason spent some time diagnosing the problem and boiled the solution down to a couple of different fixes. He called me right away, we agreed about what to do, and away Jason went, effectively turning my life back around so I could see something more than a black timeless hole. PC Fix is a company that «does the right thing» the first time while keeping the customer informed and showing true empathy for the situation faced. They are knowledgeable, professional, responsive problem solvers that I would recommend to absolutely anybody. I am not just pleased — I am entirely grateful. Thank you PC Fix!

The best and friendliest guys to trust with your laptops! They did everything to help me stay within my price range and were easy to reach by phone and email. Went beyond what I asked for and even cleaned my laptop before returning it to me! I would recommend PC Fix for everyone!

The manager Elliot (not Alex as his employees told me) called me. The end result was a credit but it could have been less painful if Elliot did not have the need to explain their policy and go on about how they had new employees; and explain technical details related to repairs that were theoretical and did not happen.

Over the past 3 years I have used PC Fix 3 times (on 3 different devices). The first time was just a new screen on my lap top. The work was done quickly and at a very reasonable price. About a year later my desktop needed a new hard drive, and when I went to pick it up the new hard drive had all the files and photos transferred for me. I love that. Third time was a simple question about recovering information off a memory stick. Even though they couldn’t recover that information — which wasn’t that important — the folks at PC Fix treat it like it is REALLY important and gave me straight answers.
Yesterday I was thrilled to be able to take quite a few older desktops into them for recycling.
PC Fix is my go to place for all computer problems. I’m treated well and all questions are answered… which means a lot since I don’t have a clue about most things computer.

All I needed was an anti-​virus. Andy hooked me up and got me on my way. I got Kaspersky installed, got all my data backed up, and was overall very happy with the prompt and thorough service. I’ll be back I need anything.

I took my (ancient, crashed) desktop into PC fix on lake city way, hoping against hope that they could pull SOMEthing off of my old hard drive (full of incredibly important files that I had stupidly neglected to back up within the last year). Everyone I dealt with during the process was extremely nice, helpful, and knowledgeable, and at the end of the day they were able to save all of my important info onto an external hard drive, and I was totally shocked by how affordable the whole thing was. I’m incredibly impressed, and I will use PC Fix again, though I hope it won’t be on such an emergency basis.

I am not very handy with computers so when I have issues I like coming here. I never feel like an idiot. Andy and Brandan are super helpful and so nice to work with. Awesome customer service

I was once a poor college student and my printer started acting up around the time I needed to have resumes at the ready — the print quality just wasn’t very good, and running the head cleaning routines would only fix the issue temporarily. So I brought it in and asked them to take a look at it.
A few days and over $ 100 later, I had my printer back and it seemed to work fine. But about a week later, after only printing about 10 sheets total since getting it back, the printer was having the same problem; I suspect they just ran the built-​in head cleaning utilities, the same ones I had already run to no avail. I brought it back to them and asked them to take another look at it. The guy I spoke to insisted on charging me again to simply look at it, even though they failed to fix it the first time. The guy and I go back and forth a bit — me explaining that they incorrectly diagnosed the problem the first time and that they shouldn’t charge me again, and him talking in circles about how they need to charge for the labor of diagnosing the problem. The guy reluctantly agrees to take another look at it free of charge, but I am now highly suspicious about this place’s morals and practices.
I get a call a couple days later, and the guy says that the printer is now unfixable because I tampered with the print heads after getting it back from them. WHAT!!! I tell him that I did no such thing, that they failed to fix it before and that I should be issued a refund as they were unable to diagnose and fix the problem. The guy then offers to put the money I’ve already paid toward a new printer, but I no longer have any interest in dealing with these people or giving them another dime, nor do I want to be bound to their very limited selection of overpriced printers.
I ended up taking my complaint to the BBB and got a 50% refund, which I put toward a new printer at Best Buy. Stay far away from these clowns, as they will waste your time and take your money while doing so. They don’t know what they’re doing, but won’t admit to it and will still try to charge you for their «labor». Scam artists, through and through.
As a footnote, I later found out that the problem with this printer was a design flaw — one of the tubes gradually got clogged with ink and dust over time and the printer was incapable of cleaning it out. I was able to find this out and fix the problem (before donating the printer) with a few minutes of googling, so why these people were unable to do the same just adds to their lazyness and shadyness.

I’m very happy with Computer Fix. I thought it was going to be a nightmare, like getting your car fixed, a never ending run around that cost way more then you ever wanted to spend. But it was the complete opposite, they assessed the problem, told me what needed to be replaced, ordered the part, replaced it, all for the amount they quoted me. They went above and beyond by cleaning the inside while they were in there and repairing a part that had come detached. Then explained to me how I needed to clean it on my own to avoid any problems. Really nice guys.

My name is Rich. I’m not a computer guy and I’m certainly not one of those guys who claims to be able to «self diagnose» every issue that comes up… but I’ve got people!
Two weeks ago I took my broke computer to «my people». A friend of mine who was a network guru in the Airforce and an overall computer bad-​ass. After spending nearly 6 hours one evening, under the hood of my computer, I received the somber and seemingly devistating news, «Rich…» he said, «this may be above my skill level».
Utter and complete computing devastation sets in! Have I mentioned that I’m not a computer guy?
My computer genius friend suggests that I make the drive to Lake City Way, north of Seattle. You see, I live in DesMoines, and yet, I took my friends advice. I wanted to take my broken laptop to the same place the pros go to when they feel like all hope is lost.
That same day I drove past 10 other computer repair stores, past Best Buy’s Geek Quad and up to Lake City Way, just north of Seattle. On that day, I was still devastated an feeling hopeless.
To save you, the reader, time in trying to determine where to take your broken computer to, I’ll cut to the chase…
A1-​Best fixed my computer. YES! But not on the first try. You see, my particular issue was a hidden giant. It took two tries, but they got it!
You should know, after hearing that the fix on day one didn’t actually fully fix my computer’s issues, A1-Best’s owner, store manager & #1 tech got involved. Not only did the very unusual issue that my particular laptop had get resolved, but I got the most effective «education session» on how laptops really work, on the inside… from the great Eric Nordling, the one and only owner of A1-​Best!

I’ve been bringing my computers to A-​1 for a few years now and am consistently impressed by their techs’ knowledge.
Formerly in the computer repair business, I usually fix my own computers but occasionally find myself in «situation» where I’m completely stuck. From an odd boot sector issue to a faulty AC Adapter these guys get it done, and get it done right.
I live pretty far south now, but will always make the trip. It’s worth it.

When our computer crashed these guys fixed it and recovered all of our music and most importantly – pictures. Quickly and for a great price. Hopefully we will not have to go back to them ever ever ever, but if we do, they’ll make a traumatic event much more manageable.

*EDIT* Since my previous problem, I had a problem installing a new chip as my computer would continually reboot itself. I came in and within 30 minutes they had solved it by upgrading the BIOS on my machine to recognize the new cpu. Definitely learned from this experience and they know what they’re doing! *EDIT*
I recently had a problem with my laptop and came into A1 to get it checked out because of my awful experience with Geek Squad stealing hardware from me in the past. It is a locally owned and cheaper alternative to Geek Squad, as well as having a much faster turn around time. It turns out that I had a damaged hard drive and had to buy a new one as well as transfer my data. A1 told me the flat hourly rate when I first went in and I had no problem paying for the additional labor in repairs.
I didn’t have any problems like the first reviewer had whatsoever. Much like a car repair shop, they need to open up your computer to diagnose the problem if for example you came into the store because you spilled liquid in it.
I had a great experience at A1 and plan to visit it for all future computer problems. I highly recommend it!
