First off, I think they MAY know what they are doing. But I came to give them as a very easy sale; Just show me what you know about your craft. So I brought my used Yamaha student model YAS-23 to them for repair to improve low register notes. After three trips and the guy who worked on my sax walking out on me as I was assembling the saxophone to test it out, my B and Bb sounded the same as I found out later in the night. OK, I got very mad but tried slowly with my 9 and 10 years old to find where the faults are. We found out later that he Stephen did not put the tension back on as he tried to fixed the big valve at the horn earlier in the day. Enough said, I will try BELLANDREED next time. Planning to buy my $ 5000 saxophone and I definitely will think twice before taking it to Oberloh for anything.

There is really no other place to get great work done on your instrument, especially brass work. I was devastated when I accidentally wrecked my trumpet(the brackets were complete separated, disconnecting the leadpipe from the bell) and when I picked it up after it was with Oberloh and team, it was in better shape than when I first got it. They really went over and above what I was expecting. In addition, they have a ton of great re-furbished classic brass there to check out and purchase if you’re interested. Overall, highly recommended if you care about your instrument and how it’s taken care of.

If you are looking for wind instrument repair or cleaning, these guys are at the top of their game. They have a deep level of familarity with many brass and woodwind instruments. I brought them two trombones, a tuba and a sousaphone. With just a few minutes of inspection, they were able to tell me a lot about the history of them than what I know(shows that it is a good idea to have horns inspected before puchasing them, too). They have great advice on use of different oils, creams, etc. in daily use. I have professional class instruments, so there are not many I would entrust with cleanings, dent removal and major repair work. Once you meet and talk with these guys, you will be impressed with the quality and care your horn is about to receive. They were even building a new euphonium for a left-handed player from scratch! How nuts is that?
