Hi, I’m Scott Lewis, founder of Nice Moves Moving. While in college studying towards a degree in Audio Engineering, I worked as a crew lead for a major moving van-​line based in Everett. Towards the end of my studies, I lost all hearing in my left ear due to medical complications. Since I no longer had stereo hearing, I couldn’t pursue an audio career. However, I truely do enjoyed helping people relocate. So when my degree was complete, I set out on my own to start Nice Moves.

We began in 2005 as a labor-​only service (loading/​unloading rental trucks) listed only on ratings-​based websites. Due to demand from many repeat clients, we added a full-​service option to our list of services in 2008. All my empolyees are experienced, trained professionals. From the 1st phone call to the last box off the truck, you and your household/​business will be treated with the utmost respect and the highest level of customer service.

Mr. Nice Guy! Moving/​relocation specialist and all around nice guy. I make it a point to know as much as possible about the moving industry and how to save you money on your move. There’s always more to learn though and new technology to employ. With over 10 years in the moving industry, I am a wealth of information that will help you make your move easier and more affordable, and keep myself apprised to any new options that come available.

Moving aside, in my off time I am a musician and have an AA degree in Audio Engineering. I’ve played acoustic guitar in «Susan Harper: Conspiricy» for the past year and have been involved in numerous recording projects.

Best money I’ve ever spent! Moving is not fun so I knew when moving day came (accross town move from Magnolia to Pioneer Square) I needed to hire somebody to move my stuff. After a great quote, way under any other company I called/​emailed, I decided to hire Nice Moves Moving. Will and Connor showed up exactly on time, assessed all my things, told me about 4 hours and got right to work. They were friendly, efficient, hard working and came under the estimated time. I would definitely recommend them and hire them again next time I move!

Amazing movers! I highly recommend this company.
We were moving from Seattle to Texas. A friend who had used them for two local moves suggested we call, but wasn’t sure if they would did long distance moves. The owner was upfront about the different services/​options we could consider from a full service door to door move or a modified self move. We opted for the modified self move because of scheduling conflict and cost. Nice Moves Moving loaded up the truck in seattle, then a commercial trucking outfit drove it to Texas and we had another moving company unload for us.
The three guys who came from Nice Moves Moving were all very polite and professional. They also had master puzzle skills, because we ended up needing to move a bunch more stuff then we had reserved space for on the commercial truck. At one point it looked like several boxes would not fit. But the guys put on their problem solving hats and repositioned a few items and had everything fit. Plus it was all securely packed such that even after two or three thousand mile drive everything came out in good condition. nothing was damaged.
Lastly, the guys from Nice moves moving were fast and hard working. This was especially obvious when we saw the unprofessional slow service of the movers who we hired to unload the truck.
NOTE: if considering a long distance modified self move use Broadway Express trucking out of Illinois not ABF trucking or UPack. Broadway Express driver was awesome and the truck has an airlift ride and two axel so better shocks meaning everything arrived in the same condition it was packed. We have heard from others that the ABF/​U-​pack trucks with only a single axel often result in broken property.

Scott & Aaron were extremely helpful from the planning stages. They responded quickly to email and actually answered their phone! I needed movers to unload a 16 foot truck that we were driving from Portland to Seattle. We had a specific move-​in time slot to use the elevators in the apartment building and to make matters worse, there was very limited parking in front of the building Timing was EVERYTHING! Scott kept us posted on the availability and timing of the movers he assigned to our job on our drive up Interstate 5. At the very last minute, one of his movers became injured and Scott stepped in to take his place! Not only were they helpful moving the items into the apartment, but Scott had a keen eye for placing the furniture as well. Very professional and communicative. Can’t say enough great things about this company!

My wife and I just recently moved to Seattle from L.A. We had help in California, but not in Seattle. We knew that moving our furniture and belongs up three flights of stairs was something that we needed help with. I started my search for movers on Unilocal and I noticed that Nice Moves received some very good reviews. After calling them up and having them help us with the move, I can see why they received such favorable reviews.
First off, I made reservations with Scott. We made reservations for the Friday of our move. Later, I asked to have the help come on Saturday. It wasn’t until later that I realized that we needed them to help us out on the Friday originally scheduled, not Saturday. Making a long distance move with so many things going on can do that to even the most organized of people. However, Scott was very understanding and reworked our arraignments for Friday. Scott’s consideration and willingness to be flexible with us was the first gold star.
The day of the move came, and in the middle of the Seattle rain, the two movers came early before the scheduled time which was fine with us. After showing them the unit, they immediately began to pack up all of our belongs from the truck and brought them all up with no breaks in between. The guys were courteous, friendly and very focused on getting our stuff out of the truck and into our new home. Before we knew it, the big items like the couch, our TV, our bed, dresser and many other items were all out of the truck and in the apartment. The hard part of the move was officially over!
The total cost of the labor was $ 190. But I feel that it was money well spent. Having to do the move by ourselves would have probably been too stressful of an event. Using Nice Moves helped to alleviate a lot of that stress. Nice Moves provided us with a good start to our new life in the NW and for that we are forever grateful.
Eventually, we do plan on buying a house. When then time comes, we will probably be enlisting Nice Moves to help us out again.

Best movers ever — and I have been recommending them to everyone for about nine years now. They have moved me probably five times. They are reliable. Moving is stressful, so this is important. They are efficient and really honest. They are really affordable. Scott runs a tight ship. I made the mistake of using gentle giant on my last move because I had a groupon. Biggest moving mistake of all time. Give these guys a chance. It will work out great.

Scott and his guys were great. Called a week before looking for a end of month Saturday move and he said they would make it happen. I also needed a 16 ft truck with 3 guys, not one of their standard offerings… no problem.
They were supposed to start at 9am… they were there at 8:55 am and got right to work. They were all professional and friendly and had the truck loaded in no time. Absolutely recommend these guys and will definitely use them again.

They pick stuff up and they put it down. It seems like a simple concept, but that action conspires to make moving one of the worst times in an otherwise uneventful life. You hate it. I hate it. The guys at Nice Moves probably hate it… but they’re willing to do it for money… and I’m willing to pay them.
There really isn’t much to say other than they were on time, they didn’t break anything, and they were all pleasant. Their price was VERY reasonable, although they did underestimate the time to move us by a good margin. It’s nice to not have to schedule a walk-​through among all the other things you’re doing while attempting to move, but I can’t say I like the news of being charged more. Washington law prevents movers charging more than 20% their estimate and we certainly had to make use of it (by agreement). Even with the «surprise,» their prices was still reasonable and we happily paid it.

We had contracted with Starving Students but they did not show on the day of the move. We had a full house ready to be moved and no mover. We called several companies desperately trying to get someone to move us. Nice Moves was very helpful, called in movers who were on their day off and were over at our house in a couple of hours. The movers were very competent, courteous, responsible and efficient. They moved the house in much less time than it took the last time we moved. Nice Moves is great! Highly recommended. Thank you!

Moved from Ballard to Wedgewood yesterday morning and these guys were great. Showed up right on time, got right to work, and were extremely efficient.
I hate moving and they made the process easy and painless. Because I moved on a Sunday, there was a 4 hour minimum charge (of which I was well aware of prior to them arriving), but the move only took about 2.5 hours total.
I will definitely use Nice Moves again. Great guys.

Moved from Capitol Hill to Greenwood yesterday and these guys were absolutely top-​notch. Did an in-​person assessment/​estimate beforehand, showed up on time, were impressively efficient, came in well under the estimate time-​wise. They somehow got a 26-​foot truck in/​out of an awkard, skinny alleyway, too. Professional, stand-​up dudes who understand the customer service aspect of moving. Would use again in a heartbeat.

We’ve moved a lot over the last several years. Nice Moves provided us with the best moving experience across the board. We hired them to pack and move. They were efficient, conscientious, professional, and courteous. They were on time for every appointment and their prices seemed incredibly reasonable compared to other local movers.
Moving is always a bit of a stressful experience. This one by far was the least stressful, dare I say even pleasant experience for us. Would use them again and would recommend them to friends and family.

These guys are as good as it gets. Paul and Luke were professional, friendly, careful and came in under their (very reasonable) estimate. They showed up exactly on time, and really busted the move out quickly and efficiently. Their prices were quite reasonable, and they made a real effort to explain the costs to us, and save us time and money where they could.
I still can’t believe how much they managed to get in one 16′ truck! They really know how to pack tightly and safely. They grabbed everything in one run, and nothing got broken. Really a first-​class job across the board.
We will *definitely* be using them again the next time we move, and I would recommend them to anyone considering a local move in a heartbeat.

Prompt, polite, efficient and friendly (and cute). Had some trouble with my new building double-​booking the loading doc but these guys were resourceful and found a way around it. They finished about an hour sooner than they quoted me (fantastic news for me) and everything was delivered intact. Will definitely call them the next time I move.

This the best moving company experience I’ve had hands-​down. I recently moved a large one-​bedroom from SLU to Cap Hill. The Cap Hill move-​in was challenging due to scare parking and elevator issues, but not once were there any complaints made by the team of 2 movers. Rather, they quickly assessed the challenge and decided on an effective workaround. Throughout, the movers were professional and personable. The pricing /​time estimate was right on the money. This is a locally owned business where the owner takes a tremendous amount of pride in delivering a superior experience. I have already had the opportunity to refer a friend to Nice Moves. I will continue to refer this company to others and use them for my own needs in the future without hesitation.

Nice Moves Moving helped my siblings and me move our 85 year old dad from his beloved house to an apartment — not a move dad was thrilled about. The movers from NMM were so great and helped us get through an emotionally difficult day. They were friendly, helpful and effecient! And when all was done, I think the prices was a bargain. Definitely using NMM next time for anyone moving.

I’m surprised I’m the only person who had a negative experience with these guys. Sure, they were very calm and nice; however, it took them 3 hours to load a small one bedroom apartment into their van. One of the guys even mentioned that I didn’t have much stuff. One guy brought everything down and the other went between moving stuff around in the truck to checking his phone. He probably didn’t know I could see him from my window. Then they decided to take an hour lunch break at a sit down restaurant before unloading my stuff. What should have taken 3 – 4 hours ended up taking over 5 hours. How did it take 3 hours to load from a building that had an elevator and only about an hour and a half to unload and walk up three flights of stairs? Oh, I know, the guy decided to get out of the truck and actually help. They get two stars for being friendly.

This moving company is the best. We have moved too many times in the previous three years and they have been there each time. They are professional, punctual and are careful with the things they move.
Here’s a few hints on how to work with this company. Treat these guys with respect, they work hard. Keep cold water for them, again they work hard. Tip them, they work hard. If you have had a bad mover, you know how much a good moving company is worth.
This is the only company we will use in the pacific northwest.

I called Nice Moves six days before we were moving from Capital Hill/​Madison Valley to Beacon Hill, and we were pleasantly surprised that they were able to move us (although they did have a cancellation — can’t say this would always be the case). We also had kind of a complex move (my partner and I moved in together, so we were combining two households, and then dropping off some stuff at our friend’s home before we moved into the new place — they never gave us any grief about it).
They showed up right on time, were super friendly, and moved our stuff in less than the estimated time. At one point my partner and I asked if we should help move some of the items and they told us, «you guys are paying us to do this for you, so while you’re more than welcome to pitch in, you could just kick back and relax.»
We’d use them again in a second.

We had Brian and Josh provide loading assistance on a local move and it was one of the best ideas I’ve ever had.
They were on time, professional, efficient, energetic and provided an excellent value for the money.
