Molly Moon’s Homemade Ice Cream

I had Salted Carmel, Earl Grey and balsamic strawberry flavor. So good and addicting. Waffle cones are fresh made. Great establishment.

Don’t be intimidated by the line out the door. I stumbled upon Molly Moon’s while walking through university village Tuesday night around 7 and decided to give it a shot.
The staff there is super nice and wiling to let you try as many flavors as you’d like.
I tried earl grey, honey lavender, and sasquatch, and ended up getting the honey lavender, though all the flavors were good.
I liked the honey lavender most as it had a prominent taste but wasn’t overpowering, and the ice cream didn’t feel too heavy or sweet.
I ended up getting the kids scoop (which is half a single), and that was plenty as it was a sizeable scoop.

I mean, it was okay. I ordered the chocolate ice cream. Pretty average. My favorite part is the in house made waffle cone.

I have heard sooo many good things about this place. There is always a huge line no matter where the location of Molly Moons is. The smell of fresh waffle cones are what drag you in. It smells incredible. They have some unique flavors like honey lavender, earl grey, many more. I ordered the scout mint with hot fudge and mint crumble on top. It was delicious. I tasted the honey lavender and earl grey, I was not that impressed as the flavors were not that strong, but still very cool for having them. For a single scoop with my two toppings and a waffle cone on the side, it ended up being $ 8. That is the most expensive single scoop I have ever had but it was really good. may or may not be worth it!

Came here for dessert after dumplings on the second floor at Din Tai Fung. Perfectly located on the first floor, street-​side next to the Starbucks. The line in the evening was out the door, and I think it was worth the wait.
Had the Honey Lavender ice cream. The honey lavender was just the right amount of sweetness with a hint of lavender that wasn’t too overpowering like most lavender items. Amazing. Light and refreshing to the palate.
Will come back for more.

I love Molly Moon’s! One of the better (if not the best) ice cream shops in the u-​district area. They have so many different flavors and seasonal ones as well. I like the Stumptown coffee flavor in a waffle cone.

The line here for out the door and almost around the block. A cool aspect to this place is that you can watch them making the waffle cones. Never seen that before and looked pretty awesome! Not the greatest place for ice cream in the country but this also comes from someone who’s tried every ice cream spot in NYC.
Good variety of flavors, molten chocolate and the strawberry were my favorites!

Good ice cream but most definitely NOT worth $ 6 for one scoop of ice cream.
The Earl grey is good. Different flavor but done well. Will I be back? Probably not because I can’t image paying that much for a scoop of ice cream again.

This place is so overrated its insane. They have lines going out the door on hot summer days and it’s good. but it’s not
a) worth the line
b) worth like 5 – 6 $ a cone and scoop
It’s definitely good ice cream, just don’t think it’s worth the hype nor the price.

Our first Molly Moon’s experience and we’re sold. Service was friendly and prompt and the ice cream was high quality, creamy awesomeness. I’m usually a traditionalist on my flavors, but I tried the Strawberry Balsamic and was very pleasantly surprised. Husband tried the Honey Lavender and liked it. Honestly, I took a bite and the lavender was so pronounced, it tasted like soap flavored ice cream to me. They don’t skimp on the ingredients here and I can’t wait to head back up to Seattle for more.

It was a beautiful Saturday afternoon and we decided we wanted Ice Cream. Since we were near University Village — our son suggested Molly Moons. We parked and walked over only to see a really long line. We considered if we wanted to wait and decided we had faced long lines at other Ice Cream places but they usually move along and so we joined it at the end.
We did move very slowely but then I realized it was primary due to people leaving. I peeked in the store and only saw one employee — cleaning the counter. I watched and another one came out — looked around and went back. The first one slowly helped one of the customers. The second one seemed to come back and forth. Overall we were there 10+ minutes and only saw two people leave the store.
Definetly a management issue — not enough qualified staffing for a day like today. Definately not worth the wait.

The ice cream is good but after trying Bluebird (?), it really doesn’t stand out. I’ve had really special ice cream before. This isn’t really special. My husband and I both tried a couple of flavors. I would recommend the Earl Grey, which really tastes like Earl Grey tea but the honey lavender just tasted sweet to me. My son ordered his favorite flavor, salted caramel, but it was nowhere near as good as the one we’ve had at Bluebird. A couple of the other flavors we tried were much too sweet.

Mm, the smell of waffle cones just made me drool… My friend and I were shopping in the area and I’ve been wanting ice cream for a while, so he recommended this place. The line was quite long and we stood there for about 20 – 25 minutes, though it did move quite quickly.
When it was finally our turn, I asked to sample the salted caramel. Oh gosh, when I put that in my mouth, I felt like I just ate a spoon full of salt followed by a bit of caramel. My face scrunched up as I forced myself to swallow that little spoon of ice cream. I saw so many positive reviews on the earl grey, so I went for that in a waffle cone, whereas my friend got the stumptown coffee in a cup.
I tried my earl grey and it had a really strong tea taste. I didn’t really like it, so I thought it was just okay. I tried my friend’s stumptown coffee and it was really strong. I chewed on bits of espresso grinds and then it got bitter.
All in all, this is a really cute place and I hope to try other ice cream flavors soon. It is a bit pricey, but it is homemade ice cream and they give you generous portions, so it’s well worth the price.

Super cute independent Ice creamery. Pretty yummy! And service is always amazing! My personal fav happens to be a seasonal flavor :(which is the vegan coconut! Best flavor ever!
I LOVE how everything is locally sourced! They get their cream and goodies all locally. And some of the flavors you’ll notice are only seasonal. Which is nice because it lets you know that what you’re getting is really fresh. They are more on the pricey side of things but it’s a nice treat every now and then.

I love my ice cream, and I love it even more when it’s raining outside, because it makes me look like a weirdo, eating ice cream when it’s not even 75 degrees.
The flavors that I got were honey lavender and black sesame.
Now, I just came from other ice cream places from other walks of life, and I’m simply comparing them. Personally, the honey lavender to very comparable to Bi-​Rite, with the same hints of lavender and honey that’s not overpowering to the palette. However, the black sesame isn’t as good as I hope from, a bit tone down compare to Coolhaus. Granted, I do understand that I like black sesame on the more powerful side, where I get the nutty flavor from just one taste, but that may be my Asian sweets palette wanting that.
Would love to come back to this local creamery the next time I’m in town.

All the flavours here are intense. Anything you order will taste exactly what it is.
I love the smell of the fresh cones when you walk into the shop. They offer free samples so you can taste before you buy.
Very friendly service, overall a great place to get some dessert to end the night

Anytime someone from out of town visits me I always bring them to Molly Moon!
Hope they continue to make the flavor Honey and make it an official default flavor.
I think the only bad thing is when a good seasonal flavor comes out and it disappears after the ‘season’ is over.

Not bad at all! My boyfriend and I stumbled to this ice cream shop. We were enticed by the smell of the fresh waffle cones they make in there. Because the waffle cones are so fresh, it tends to flake off, but not badly. We didn’t have to wait in line and got to try out the different flavors they offer. The people working there are very nice and patient as we were trying out the flavors. I got the vanilla bean which is very smooth and creamy. My boyfriend got the stumpton coffee which was delicious. I think I prefer that one more. There are grains of coffee in it giving it texture, and it’s intensely flavored like the coffee. It’s the best coffee flavored ice cream I’ve ever had! Mmm!
It’s a bit pricey, but it’s homemade so it’s worth it. They give you a huge portion for just one scoop! The only complaint I can give is that the shop itself is very small with maybe up to 10 seats, but I guess on a nice summer day it shouldn’t matter too much.
We live in Tacoma, but will definitely visit here again when we get the chance!

This was pretty good. I was only in Seattle for a day and this place was pretty highly reviewed as a much eat ice cream place. The ice cream quality is quite good, but I didn’t find it to be anything exceptionally amazing. Portion sizes are HUGE. I got a cone with «one» scoop — definitely looked more like two, and that scoop was humungous. I’m not complaining though, it was so delicious. I got the Thin Mints flavor with sprinkles — it is a beautiful spectacle and a delicious monster to devour, but pretty awesome.
tldr; yummy ice cream! a little pricey, but you really get your bang for the buck because the portions are huge

The Earl Grey Ice Cream here is to die for!
I’ve visited Molly Moon’s a few times already and the Earl Grey Ice Cream is just phenomenal. If you’re a huge fan of the tea itself, then you’ll definitely fall in love with the ice cream. It has the right amount of creaminess and isn’t overwhelmingly sweet. Make sure to get a sugar cone with it as well!
With a single scoop, you can opt in for 2 flavors instead. A single scoop here is equivalent to two scoops at Baskin Robbins. Yummy ice cream & huge portions. I can’t complain.
