Ah-​mazing!!! Called at 11am with a furnace that apparently died in the night. After two hours of trouble shooting with the husband we caved and called someone. I read through the reviews on Unilocal and went with matrix. They we’re fabulous!!! They came by 2pm diagnosed the problem — gave me a ball part cost — went and got the part and had my heater running by 6pm! With a toddler in the house and working from home the house needed to be warm on a cold rainy day! They were wonderful — I braced myself for a larger bill then the ball park estimate and it ended up being half of what they ballparked! Professional — speedy — and reasonable! Will definitely recommend them to friends and family and clients! Thank you!!!

OMG! Mark is so nice! Our furnace stops working after my husband tries to replace the thermometer, we called another number first and they said they need a part they didn’t have at time and they need to buy it and will come back tomorrow, but the next day they asked for 760 dollars or they won’t come! So we find matrix through Unilocal and call Mark today, he comes and fixes it in 10min and only charges for a regular service! Great service for great price! Highly recommend it!

I have worked with Matrix twice: the first time was to have them install an exhaust through my attic and roof for a cooking hood that I was installing in the kitchen. They did a great job at a great price.
The second time was that my heat stopped working during Thanksgiving weekend. I called every HVAC place on Unilocal before remembering Matrix. All the other shops were booked out for days or weeks, but Matrix was again able to help me and for a very reasonable price.
Next time I will START with Matrix!
Oh, and ONLINE PAYMENT by CREDIT CARD! What a notion!

Very helpful and willing to take the time to answer any question about our furnace. I’d recommend Mark and his team to anyone looking to support local businesses and not expecting the fancy marketing BS many of the big shops pull to justify their high prices.

Our furnace stopped working mid morning and Mark called us back right away. He was able to come out in the afternoon. He talked us through the whole process and showed us exactly how our furnace is supposed to work. He found the issue quickly, and fixed it while explaining each and every step. Mark is super friendly and very knowledgeable, and payment is very convenient because we were able to use a credit card via email. I would highly recommend Matrix Energy Services and we will definitely be using them again for any future services.

Our water heater went out. We called Mark at 7:30 pm. He got back in touch with us right away. His guys were here the next morning. All installed and cleaned up by 1 pm. Great service and good, responsive staff. We would definitely give them a thumbs up and a good recommend

Just reviewed a different gas company — amazing how different the two phone calls went! So I just bought a house and need to modify the gas line in my kitchen from one that was supporting a commercial range to a smaller gas line for a regular residential range. Whereas the other company completely brushed me off, Mark was incredibly nice on the phone, gave me a rough idea of how much it would be, but also some advice on if I wanted to do it myself since it was a relatively simple fix (less than 2 hrs including going to Home Depot!) and took a few minutes to explain why (this is to a total stranger on the phone who, if I do it myself, wouldn’t even technically be a customer of his!!). He also said that if I decided I wasn’t comfortable doing it that he would absolutely be willing to come do the job.
Having talked with a TON of contractors in the couple weeks since I bought the house, I’m starting to get a pretty good sense of who genuinely cares about customer service — and Mark very clearly is one of those individuals!!! THANKS MARK!

It’s been unusually cold here in Seattle for quite a few days. So of course this is the moment that our furnace stops working.
Sunday night around 10:30 PM just after Thanksgiving we notice a bad mechanical burning smell in the air and I realize that it is coming from the heat registers. I try to get the furnace blower to start up and it won’t. At 11 PM we call around to a number of heating places and leave messages.
We throw a couple extra blankets on our two young sleeping children and worry what to do with the kids if we’re without heat for days.
First thing next morning Mark calls (7 AM). He says that his day is scheduled extremely full, but if it works to come by in 20 minutes in advance of his first appointment he will take a look at the furnace. He arrived and quickly diagnosed the problem — a bad capacitor. He had our furnace up and running again in just a few minutes and we were quite grateful.
No one else even called us back until hours later, and it was satisfying to tell them the problem had already been fixed.

Mark is awesome.
Yesterday my furnace crapped out. I called around, going down the list on Unilocal.Matrix was the only one to answer my call (on a Saturday). I spoke with Mark and we made an appointment for Monday.
Then today (Sunday) he called to say that his Monday is looking busy, so would I like him to come by today, he’ll waive the extra weekend fee. Yes please!
An hour later, my furnace is fixed!
Final tab: $ 276. He replaced my lighter. And he told me in advance that this is the most common problem and what the cost would be.
Can’t ask for better service.

As the temperature started going down I started up my furnace for the first time this year and found out that it just wasn’t turning on. After fiddling with it several times I got it to start but then it would stop on it’s own randomly. After a while of this it decided to just not start up at all.
I ended up calling a ton of places (10 or so) and Matrix was the only company who said that they should be able to get someone out day of and their prices were better than everyone else I called so I jumped at it!
Mark came by just a few hours later and was awesome! He did a full inspection of my furnace and found it was the dead man switch on the door. Not only did he fix the switch, he also took some time out to explain how the furnace works, all the different parts, things I can do to make sure it keeps running and things that I should keep an eye out for in the coming years. Honestly, with all the information I learned this was a fantastic deal.
If I ever have an issue again or just want to replace the furnace later in it’s lifetime I am definitely requesting Mark and Matrix again. These guys are amazing!

I called Matrix Energy to help block a vent and after talking with them they explained what I did wrong to block it the first time and how to block it myself. The next time that need service I will certainly call on Matrix Energy Services first.

Our air conditioner died on 7÷13÷14. I turned to my neighborhood
network for service recommendations. Matrix was one of the businesses recommended. I called several other businesses and either couldn’t get through or didn’t hear back from them, so I called Matrix and got a live person who scheduled a service call with Jamie at 10 a.m. on 7÷21÷14.
Around 9:30 a.m. on ⁷⁄₂₁ I received a call from Jamie informing me one of the service trucks had broken down and Matrix was having to reschedule some of that day’s appointments while the truck got fixed. I didn’t have access to my calendar at the time of the call so Jamie gave me his ph# to call re: rescheduling. I called the ph# and left a message around 3:30 p.m. on ⁷⁄₂₁. I did not hear back from him that day (was okay with that), so I called him again around 9 a.m. on ⁷⁄₂₂ and had to leave a message. When I hadn’t heard from him by 3 p.m. I tried calling again and left a message with no response. Around 10 a.m. on ⁷⁄₂₃ I left a final message asking to reschedule service. To this day Jamie has not returned my calls.
I *could* have called the office phone to ask about rescheduling but I figure if the tech assigned to my case isn’t responsible enough to return my calls (or forward them to the office) then it’s a sign the company is one that I probably don’t want to deal with. I HATE poor customer service and I refuse to chase service providers for the pleasure of paying them good money while they give crappy customer service. I am happy to wait until Eastside Heating & Air Conditioning is free to fix my air conditioner. I have shared this information with my neighborhood and the other 11 neighborhoods in South Bellevue/​Newcastle that are hooked into us on

This is the second time I’ve called Matrix out to perform work (different issue this time). My cooling system conked out and Nick came by to have a look. Once again, absolutely amazing service. Not only competent and quick, but punctual and super-​friendly. I’ve give another star if I could.

Very helpful, showed up when they said they were going to and were able to fix the problem very quickly. I will be a return customer.

As fate would have it, thermostat went out on Sunday (during Seattle’s cold spell) at my townhome in Seattle. After speaking with other repair companies, decided not to pay the almost $ 150 – 200 extra for a Sunday house call, since there was a working gas fireplace. Called Matrix today (Monday morning) and Mark called me right back. After explaining the situation, he agreed it sounded like a thermostat issue that would likely need replacing, though to his credit, he wouldn’t commit to that until looking at it. If it is a thermostat replacement as expected, he gave me an exact cost for the service call including tax, and told me that this job can typically be done in the 40 mins that cost includes. He told me what his cost is for the thermostat they would likely use was, and the total with the service call plus thermostat was more affordable than just the thermostat with another well-​known company I was working with and have used in the past. I wanted a smaller company with more personal attention, and so far Matrix is responding as I had hoped. Mark has given us an approximate time someone can be out this morning (within a couple hours of our talking), and I have an idea of what timing and cost will likely be. Let’s see if this review ends on a good note! I’m optimistic thus far.

Cons: Let’s get this out of the way, folks. There’s no aspect of this service I would have preferred Matrix handle differently. Its rare, I know, but competence, value and honesty apparently DO exist in the same space. My cynicism bank was severely depleted as a result of hiring these folks.
Pros: From stem to stern — from the moment they answered the phone to the manner in which the invoice was delivered — the Matrix team was stellar. Absolutely punctual. Direct and expeditious. Honest, courteous, insightful and mindful of your home. Very reasonable pricing, with amazing value add in the form of advice and information. Communicative without being condescending or distracted.
Here’s the skinny:
I called last Thursday to schedule service for a non-​emergency issue and my first hint that we were dealing with the right folks was when they answered the phone. Admittedly, I’m awful with names unless its related to work. This is one instance where I wish I’d written down the name of the person who answered our call and scheduled service. (I want to say «Vicky», but am probably dead wrong. When you call, you’ll see what I mean. Or hear. You get the point.) She got right to the heart of the matter, didn’t interrupt even when I realized I was starting to babble a little. But what really struck me was when she asked if we could put it out until Tuesday, because they knew we were in for a cold snap and wanted to keep schedule space for emergency service to folks without any heat. That, my friends, is quality. I know… I know… you’re going to say, «That’s just so they can keep their schedule open for higher rate service visits!» (Then you’ll twirl your mustachios and laugh like a mid 19^th century robber baron. Mwahaha! *My little daydream, so I get to colorize it how I like. Alright?) Turns out the folks at Matrix never watched Wall Street or heard Gordon Gekko say ‘Greed is good.“
Jaime arrived exactly on time, went straight to work examining an issue with our aging gas fireplace (euphemism for ancient flammable gas filled contraption which fills me with more trepidation than the thought of randomly encountering my ex-​wife). He addressed several issues with the kind of fast, thorough competence which we all hope to get from our doctors. When I say fast, I mean Jaime had the thermo-​coupler cleaned, adjusted and resurrected to a new life in the space of time it took me to take a quick phone call.
He was communicative while he worked to clean the burner bar and test the ignition process. Not to the point of distraction, like those occasional service folks who seem to think you’re a surrogate therapist. His words were pearls of wisdom, and I made sure to collect them all. Everything from ongoing personal maintenance and parts replacement to the how’s and why’s of the actual operation. By the end, I felt like a journeyman gas piper. (Okay… probably closer to the guy asking to juggle chainsaws on the Progressive commercial, but… at least Jaime had eliminated the mystery of the beast and filled in the dark corners of the map for me.) The bill for a couple hours work and the benefit of a decade’s knowledge? Less than a Friday night dinner out. (And I’m a pretty cheap old badger, as my wife will readily and gleefully attest.)
This was hands-​down the best in-​home service experience I’ve had. And the belief that people are all too often more inclined to share their negative experiences than their positive ones is the reason I’ve hammered this out at 3:30am with Thanksgiving preparation looming before me. I knew if I didn’t do it now it would end up on the nagging list of things I’d meant to do, and my fellow Unilocalers … you deserve to know that these folks are Grade A, Top Shelf service professionals, well worth your hard earned greenbacks.

Very impressed with Mark and his team. I had my furnace replaced by Matrix last June. I went out for 4 bids, Matrix was neck and neck with another bid price wise. The reason I went with Matrix came down to how well he laid out the plan for what we were going to do. I had some duct work needing done in addition to a new furnace and after talking and explaining the pros and cons of the different approaches, I felt comfortable that they knew what they were doing.
Additionally, since I had my furnace replaced in June, I wasn’t really running it much, but one day when I was trying to get it going, it was spotty on kicking on. So I called them up, Mark himself came out the next day and spent 2 hours troubleshooting the furnace and explaining as much as I cared to listen to about what he was doing and why. Turned out it was just a bad connector, but the quick and excellent service is what really puts Matrix over the top. The install looks great (both the furnace and under the house the ducting) and I really could not be any happier with Matrix.

These guys are just great. I never take the time to write these reviews, but its hard to ignore it when you have such a great experience with a service company.
We had a few different issues with our relatively old furnace, and Mark was always there to give us great advice. When we had a weird little rattle, he was able to help diagnose it over the phone, so that he could give me an different scenarios and estimate the range of costs. You really couldn’t expect more from someone, he’s genuine, very honest, helpful, and just has such a great attitude.
We’re moving from the area, so I thought I should do my part by providing this review so that any reading knows they’ve found the right guy…

Called & set appointment. Mark was on time and very courteous. He found our problems (bad/​missing ducting to 2 rooms) and gave a recommendation for better flow to a cold bedroom.
He fixed/​replaced the ducting and we accepted his recommendation for the other room and work started the same day. He had everything wrapped up in no time and my ventilation is working great!
I cant wait for another cold winter where we’ll be nice & cozy in our home.

I needed to replace an ancient oil furnace with something modern. I did some research and settled on natural gas. Then I started looking for estimates.
Mark responded faster than any other company, offered better equipment at better prices, encouraged me to shop his estimate around, and did an AMAZING amount of footwork before I even decided to use him!
For example, he called PSE on my behalf as part of his estimating process to see if there was an existing gas line or not. He took numerous phone calls from me to answer all my elementary questions. He gave me various options on the estimate (eg: the price differences between a 95% and 85% efficiency furnace, 4 vs 6 duct lines, removal of the old furnace vs keeping it in place, etc). Afterwards he filled out the rebate information and sent it to me for signature with an addressed, stamped envelope.
His crew showed up on time, had everything installed when he said it would, and everything is great! Matrix really delivered, and I am very pleased with Mark, the work they did, and the price.
