Julep Nail Parlor

I have been going to Julep for years and have always had a great experience. After getting my nails done at a different place while I was out of town, I have an all new appreciation for Julep’s quality services and products!

Great manicure/​pedicure that lasts for a LONG time. This is not a cheap solution that will wear off quickly and the technicians really take the time to do things right. If you are local, join the club and get a manicure or brow wax every month plus 20% off all products and the ability to schedule PDQ pedicures for a less than the normal ones. They always send you off with the file/​buffer and some of the pedicures also come with free touch-​ups and a bottle of whatever polish you choose.
I’ve had mixed results with waxing there, but Kayla is really great. Ask for her if you’re thinking of getting anything waxed.

Shockingly awful. Incompetent staff who clearly aren’t trained to paint nails & are extremely rude. This is by far the worst nail salon (if you can even call it that) experience I have ever had and a complete waste of time — 2 ½ hours — and completely overpriced. Low quality nail polish and zero customer service. Stay away if you actually want your nails to look good. I would pay not to come here ever again.

Just got the Julep Manicure done. It felt so good and now my hands are so soft. Nadia was amazing and made sure my nails were exactly how I wanted them. I appreciated being able to keep the nail file and pick a bottle of nail polish to take home.
Also had great sales. $ 2 for a bottle of Julep? Yes please!

My sister and I came in today for the Julep Manicure and had the best time! Katie and Nadia were so nice, and even gave us some cool places to visit and do while in Seattle. Everything they use comes in sterile packaging that they open right in front of you, so you know it’s clean!
Our nails look awesome and we got to take home a bottle of the color we chose for touchups (which is included in the cost!). The girls in the front of the store were helpful, as well.

I’m just visiting Seattle for a few days and this nail salon was conveniently located right next to my hotel, so I decided to check it out. I walked in around 3pm without an appointment and within 5 minutes was seated and getting a «porch manicure». The salon has a modern look and feel, very clean and a refreshing friendly staff of ladies.
The porch manicure was $ 28, which is on the more expensive end of manicures I’ve had in the past. Being that I was in the mood to just relax and pamper myself for a change, it wasn’t too bad considering the great service. If you want a gel manicure the price jumps to $ 45, but you get to keep the Julep polish color they use on you, so it’s worth it if you want to splurge a little more with polish that will last you around 10 days.
All in all, I am very satisfied with my experience at Julep with Nadia as my manicurist!!! Thanks so much!

I’ve been going to Julep for nails and waxing over the last 3 years. I’m very happy to have met Hulu for nails! On top of doing a fabulous job on my nails, she is so sweet and personable — the perfect outlet downtown during my lunch breaks! When I want it, they can double up on me to do a mani/​pedi at the same time and get me out under an hour. They have the best color selections, coming out with new options each month. And I believe the polishes are all free of any bad chemicals. The waxing has been hit or miss over the years, but it’s a good value and always a decent job. I do the $ 18/​month membership and can use it on a brow wax or mani — easy. My favorite part is the convenience of the online booking. For anyone downtown that’s looking for a step up from a little nail shop, but not wanting a formal spa experience, this is a great option.

I work close to the downtown Julep so I signed up for their $ 18/​mo membership. I can’t say I’m a fan of the women that do my eyebrows. I was told «they are sisters not twins»… when I wanted to say «What the heck, make them twins!»
I love getting pedicures there though. My polish stays on until I’m ready for my next one (usually monthly). The pedicurist does an excellent job and I leave with my toes feeling fresh and pretty.

The customer service here was great, but to be honest it’s the product that I didn’t enjoy. I received a «porch» manicure here. It’s their 30 minute, most affordable option. For non-​members it still runs you $ 28, not including tip. The person that gave me the manicure was friendly and conversational.
The problem is that my nails started chipping almost immediately… I noticed it when I woke up the next morning. All I did between getting a manicure and then was eat dinner and go to bed, so it’s not like I was involved in a high impact sport or anything. When you get the manicure, they don’t buff your nails to help the nail polish adhere to the nail, so that might be a contributing factor. If you ever plan on using hot water, expect it to affect the polish. I took a hot bath the next evening, and now I’ve got weird marks in the polish, and the shine from the topcoat is nearly gone. I realize that they pride themselves in using more natural options or something, but it’s terrible quality that just doesn’t stay on! What a waste of $ 28, especially as a birthday activity!

Wonderful! I walked in off the street, they were clean, professional and my nails look amazing! I was in and out with a French manicure in 25 minutes! Highly recommended

My new favorite nail salon… in the country! They don’t have the massage chairs, but they have really comfy chairs, and convertible furniture, so you don’t have to get out of your chair to waddle to a manicure station. They only use nail equipment once, so you take home what they would have thrown away anyway. The colors are great, the people are friendly, and the vibe is chill. I’m only here for 3 weeks, but I will be back!

Julep nail parlor is in a very convenient location and I love that you are able to book online. The service was professional and prompt. I tried Julep because I was intrigued by the non-​toxic polish but unfortunately my manicure didn’t even last 24 hours before chipping. Back to the chemicals for me… :(

The staff is great, but as I sit waiting for my friend I am grossed out but the fact that the owners let a location fall apart into disarray. I will attach photos. This place is truly disgusting. I will attach photos.
Any place providing beauty services should be clean! Are they cleaning the important stuff like nail equipment etc…

Not only was this my first time to a Julep salon, but my first mani pedi ever! (Please don’t ask why it took me almost 23 years to get a mani pedi; I have no idea.)
I walked in at about 11 am on a weekday with no appointment and I got in right away. When I came in there were only two clients besides me, but by about noon the place was steadily filling up. Tish took great care of me. I got the Julep mani and Julep pedi. My services took just over 2 hours total. I don’t know what all the things she used on me were (remember, this was my first time) but there was lots of steamy and exfoliating goodness going on for my arms and legs. Tish made polite, friendly conversation with me but didn’t try to force me into talking the entire time like some people at salons do (I’m a pretty quiet person so I really appreciated this!). She also explained the sterilization technique for the implements and how some of the products she was using worked, which I liked. Overall the atmosphere was friendly, sort of quiet, and the space was very clean. I can’t wait to come to Seattle again and take my mom to Julep with me.

I was in Seattle on business and had a few hours to myself, a treat on a tightly scheduled business trip. I saw the Julep salon and made an appointment for the next day. My experience was great — my mani lasted a long time and I really like that the company supports great causes. My only complaint is that I live in Southern California, when are you expanding?!
In a major metro area, I don’t think the service was pricey; after reading the NYT article last week about nail salon sweat shops in NYC, I’d rather have a quality service supporting a company that provides a safe environment for their employees than a cheap mani that supports shameful conditions. I’d consider going to Julep a treat, but if I had one closer, I’d make sure it was part of my monthly budget. I will absolutely try to schedule at least one service at Julep when I’m in Seattle. And now I’m a Julep polish lover, I’d like to gradually switch all my polish to Julep!

Julep staffers offer great and friendly service. I work downtown, so the Fifth Avenue location is ideal. But even more important, everyone at Julep works hard to make sure that your visit is relaxing and pleasant. The front desk staff are so welcoming and courteous. They immediately offer clients hot tea or water and make a point to remember your name. The technicians and estheticians are equally conscientious. I’ve had manicures, pedicures, facials and waxing done at Julep and can honestly say that I always leave the parlor feeling happier than when I entered.
The services are top quality, and as a result, the prices are on the higher end. However, if you get a Parlor Club membership, you can get the best bang for your buck. For example, I use my monthly membership service for the Julep Power Cell Facial or the signature Julep Pedicure. Booking is easy because I do it online. Not to mention, Parlor Club members get discounts on all other services.

I was in Seattle visiting my family and I decided to go into Julep to see what they had because I had never seen one! I had already had my nails done before I went on my trip so I unfortunately didn’t need a mani or pedi, but I did want to buy some polish! Anna at the front desk was super helpful in picking a color that would be good for my skin tone and that I could wear all the time! I can’t wait to come back when I visit again to get a pedi and maybe even another polish!

I go to Julep because it’s convenient to me (I work downtown) and I think the technicians are very talented. The front desk crew is more often rude than kind, but since I don’t have to spend much time with them outside of scheduling and payment, I’m generally okay with it. Booking online is sometimes a challenge, or I’d otherwise avoid them almost completely.
Their prices are fair for the services they provide. I’m a total germaphobe, and I feel that the salon is always clean. I’m a member, and appreciate the monthly PDQ service for $ 18. You can definitely get a cheaper mani/​pedi elsewhere, but I’d rather pay a little more to avoid a side of fungus with my pedicure.
The best part about Julep though? Hulu. She’s amazing. My co-​worker and I have to fight over her. She’s always so sweet, very detailed, and my mani/pedi’s always come out looking absolutely flawless. I’ve had other great experiences with other technicians (Chau is also really good).
5 Stars (or more!) for Hulu, 5 Stars for the salon cleanliness and ambience, 3 Stars for the customer service girls.

I signed up for Julep’s monthly box in September 2013 and cancelled in August 2014.
The Good:
Their nail polishes ARE good when they’re newer and haven’t been occupying the shelves for an extended period of time. Those mystery boxes usually have one new color, and then a ton that they’re just trying to get rid of. Those tend to be gloppy.
The price is much better than what you would pay at Sephora for the exact same thing… the perks of allowing them to charge your card monthly.
Their colors are nice and always stylish. I do like their nail tools a lot, like the Vanish with the nail tool. The Quick Drying drops for me are just ok.
I did have a good experience canceling. I called before I even got my second box. I did tell them why I was canceling, as they send you a survey. No response.
The Negatives:
Their shipping department is a mess. They used to use DHL, which was a nightmare. Now they use USPS, which gets to you fast once they ship. But it seems anymore it takes them FOREVER to ship. I’ve heard that the more add-​ons you select, the longer it takes to ship… which is ridiculous since you’re spending more money with them and not just buying the basic box.
Their customer service is barely existent. Call them and most of the time you have to leave a message; and no one will call you back. Try to communicate with them on social media (Twitter or Facebook) and it’s hit or miss. On Twitter I communicated with them about how unhappy I was that they charged me for my monthly box and almost a week later it hadn’t shipped. I think I got a response and when I responded back, nothing else. Sometimes when I’ve e-​mailed them, like in the case where they only shipped part of my order, it took a few tries but I eventually got someone to talk to me and ship out my order.
Their attempts to break out into makeup has been quizzical at best. Their brown eye shadow palette was ok, but I’m going to reach for UD Naked or Too Faced Matte Eyes for an every day kind of look. The blush was ok but seemed to break apart very easily. I have the eyeliner but I’ve never used it.
The rabid social media fans are hilarious. On FB if you complain that your box is taking forever to ship (it was almost 2 weeks before I received my first, almost 2 weeks before I received my last) they’ll insist that the product is «soooo worth it!» It’s nail polish, and while Julep’s is nice, it’s nothing that I can’t go to Ulta or Sephora and pick up something comparable, particularly from Butter (who I actually like their brushes more).
Bottomline: I think Julep makes a good product when it’s nail polish. But they treat their customers like garbage and like they’re doing you a favor by letting you buy their polish. I think their focus is on building and expanding their brand; probably why they’re not really taken seriously by any fashion magazine or major blogger.
I do find the people who didn’t understand the subscription system hilarious. «I DID NOT GIVE YOU PERMISSION TO SIGN ME UP FOR THIS!» Um, by signing up for a box you did. Maybe you should learn how to read before placing orders on the inter webs.

I decided on a whim to get a pedicure at Julep as it was right outside the hotel I was staying at. The were able to take me in 20 minutes on a Saturday which I was pleased about. I opted for their basic pedicure which they mentioned lasted for 45 minutes. The staff was really friendly and welcoming.
I would say the pedicure is decent and realized they avoid harsh chemicals and seem to have a simple approach to their services. I guess I’m used to the massage chairs and foot spas with swirling water so it was a change for me but still relaxing nonetheless. The pedicure cost $ 48 — since I’m not from the Seattle area, I can’t comment to whether that’s a reasonable price. I usually get mine for less but again, I don’t live in the heart of a big city.
