Very Bland, no flavor and a waste of money– scatter and splatter decoration. Stay Away!

This smallLake city restsurant has been In business on the same block for over 4 years. If u want comida authentico GOHERE. THE owner Alberto comed from Peru but his menu is extraordinary. Tortas, tacos Cuban sAndwiches, philly cheesesteaks, pork loin dinner, clam chowder… On and on. All freshly made. all more economical than the taqueria trucks. It in lake city a place where many don, travel for good food but that„ s their loss U will not be able to finish ur entrée as the portions are gigantico and u will be carrying at least a third of it home with u for a late nite snack.

This place has wonderful authentic Mexican food that is healthy, freshly prepared and very affordable. The owner and chief Alberto Morales has been cooking for over 30 years and the pride he puts into each dish shows. Alberto is a very kind person that is more then happy to accommodate people with special diets so feel free to request what you want and don’t want. I hope you find this little restaurant as wonderful as I do and please tell your friends. So next time you are in the north end of Seattle in the district of Lake City, instead of going to Dicks Drive in go see Alberto at Jose’s Taqueria Mexican Grill, you will not be disappointed.

Don’t know how this place has positive reviews. Food is dog sh**. The chef does everything in his power for you not to be able to see how the food is prepared covering the kitchen with Salvation Army blankets. Place sucks. Don’t go

Wow. It’s amazing this place has 4 stars. I wish I had read the actual reviews before ordering. The recent reviews are all more on par with our experience. Our first tip off should have been the guy working there was eating pasta. Probably because he realized how terrible their food is. I got carne asadas tacos, which was ground beef with grilled onions on one corn tortilla. My husbands torta with carne asada was at least steak but just grilled, no flavor. His carnitas was pieces of dried pork wihout any flavor. Definitely not going back. Wish we would’ve left and gone to the Greek place next door which we know is good!

Pretty gross food. I ordered 2 carnitas burritos to go, when I got home 20 minutes later discovered they we’re both chicken. That’s fine, whatever, but the chicken was overcooked and flavorless, probably left over from yesterday. Unpleasant to eat, and I never have issues finishing a whole burrito. The extra star is for the nice people and reasonable price.

I had great next expectations from this place all the high raves on Unilocal.Wow this place was a huge disappointment. Now I am no taqueria expert nor a rookie at all but everything was just wrong about this place. I had tacos and they were served with one dry corn tortilla the chicken was horribly overcooked and dry and crunchy the carna Asada was hamburger and the pork Carnitas were cubes of pork and none of the meat was even seasoned at all. They were topped with cilantro and grilled onions most the time it’s chopped raw onion on street tacos. They have no sauce bar and you’re limited to what hot sauces they have in the bottle. To all the people that have been raving about this place i’m not sure if you have taste buds are not or maybe I just went on a really off day. Meh this place is not my thing. The food was awful

Not good. I love Mexican food and regularly travel to Mexico. I went in and ordered tacos de carnitas(pork tacos). It SHOULD have been shredded, grilled pork. Instead it was the meat left over from their chile verde. Not seasoned, only one tortilla. I are them, but only because I was starving.

This place was great! My favorite was the fish taco. We also had the chicken and carne asada tacos as well as the chicken quesadilla, everything was delicious.

I had really high expectations for this place, unfortunately those expectations were not. My chicken fajitas had chicken skin on the cast iron skillet when it was brought to me. I would rather have Taco Bell than this place.

Jose’s Taqueria is a tiny place right next to a smoke shop on Lake City Way. Having missed it the first time my fellow’s sister and I had to backtrack and found it the second go ’round. Large neon poster board letters adorn the windows presenting a few food items. The inside is full of random pictures ranging from countries to Cher to the owner standing crossed armed wearing a sombrero. A man behind the counter greeted us as we walked in. The menu is on the wall written with sharpie on white poster board. Jose’s offers your typical Mexican fare with tacos, enchiladas, burritos(there is a potato burrito!), chips and salsa. You can get lengua and even birria. I decided to go with the cheese enchilada platter that came with rice and beans and for an appetizer some jalapeño poppers which came to about $ 15 and change. My man’s sister went with a shrimp burrito. Our food arrived and my platter was portioned just right. Not too much food, just enough to satisfy. There were sauteed onions in my enchiladas and I liked the sauce. The beans were alright but the rice was tasty. It was seasoned in a way I had never had rice seasoned before. The jalapeño poppers tasted like they had been in the freezer a bit too long. My dude’s sis said her burrito was okay. Jose’s Taqueria is between two and three stars but since Unilocal won’t let you rate on a half I will have to give it three stars. Don’t get me wrong, my platter was good but it wasn’t anything spectacular. A half star is deducted because of the old tasting jalapeño poppers. This isn’t a bad place for a cheap(ish) meal. Maybe I will give it another chance because as soon as I ordered and paid I saw the potato burrito with chorizo. I have had the hardest time finding places that serve that and I kicked myself for not thoroughly inspecting the menu before I ordered.

Amazing food. Jose *is* the entire establishment and is an entertaining and witty host. One really cool thing is that he is willing to do all sorts of special order items. This is one of only two places where I was able to get puerco fajitas. The carne asada is amazing. I think it’s chuck, not the traditional flap or hanger cut, but its still done very well.

I had no idea what to think when I first tried Jose’s. I did know I wanted a burrito with re-fried beans and authentic mexican food. Bingo! I found it. Jose’s food is good, great personality, always smiling… plus he owes me two burritos on the bet we made on the Mayweather fight lol

— Chorizo torta, good — Cod taco OK — Carne asada taco, good Lots of hot sauce on the tables if you’re dining in. Very nice and friendly staff. Although the décor is quirky, the tables are decently sized and at a glance everything seems clean. Great lunch option for the area, not the best Mexican food I’ve ever had though. When the taco truck on 145th is closed I’ll get my torta here, otherwise I’ll stick to Mr. Villa for my tacos!

The carne asad(beef) tacos here are really good. The most authentic tasting I’ve had in Seattle so far! The beans where really good too, the rice was just okay. The salsa was excellent. The staff were also very sweet. I’ll definitely be going back to this place.

The guy working there was super sweet. I’m really excited for a taqueria close to home as choices in Lake City are not the best. My wet burrito was tasty. I felt like the prices were near the high end of reasonable but still were reasonable enough. With that said, my wet burrito included sour cream on top and avocado slices inside without me asking for them so that makes me feel a bit better about it being $ 8.50. This place is just starting out(used to be a disgusting pizza place), and it shows. It needs to be painted and have a lot of other little things done to make it presentable. Right now it’s completely slapped together and very aesthetically non appealing. But as a new restaurant you have to start somewhere. They started by opening the doors and serving tasty food. So far the menu only includes beef and chicken, plus tongue. There are fish tacos and chorizo for a few dishes but no pork, spicy pork or other common meat options found at other taquerias. All in all I’m just happy they’re there with another food option and I’ll be back!

Jose’s Taqueria has already become an important part of the Lake City neighborhood. With great food, service, and prices I recommend this little Taqueria to everyone. Real Mexican tacos for $ 1.50 :) The burritos are excellent as well!!!

Been frequenting this place quite a bit since I added it to Unilocal.I have yet to have a bad experience. The food is reasonably priced and the menu is expanding. Tamales are something special! The man who works the counter is incredibly nice and loves to talk about soccer; as do I.
