Description

History

Established in 1985.

In 1974, in the Midwest, I started counseling families, continuing to expand my practice to individual and group therapy over the next seven years. That work has continued, after a move to Seattle in 1983.

In addition to psychotherapy, I have also supervised masters level psychology students (Pepperdine University) and have designed & taught classes in human development for the University of Washington (Spectrum Continuing Education and the Experimental College).

Business Owner

Janette Brown, a licensed master’s level therapist, graduated from Missouri University in Education and Counseling in 1973, and completed a professional internship in family systems therapy. She has been practicing since 1974, working with individuals, families, and community agencies. In addition to her counseling work, she has authored and taught Spectrum’s class on grief and loss, the «Life/Death Paradox» and «Transforming Personal History», focusing on individual change within the family, and «DreamWise», an Experimental College class encouraging group discussion on the meaning in dreams. Janette’s work is influenced by here-and-now orientation, the basis of both Gestalt therapy & current East/West psychology; and she has worked extensively with motivational models of human development.
