H&R Block

Before I begin — DO NOT WORK WITH TOM HARMAN, WHATEVER YOU DO
Our accountant was rude, disorganized and unknowledgeable. He was 15 minutes late to the appointment. He began by saying we were filing late and should have filed months ago (before he’d even reviewed our tax situation). He then left the office to grab his phone charger out of his car. He was upset when he found out he couldn’t file the 1040EZ for us, which is why we came in to HRBlock in the first place. Anyone can file a 1040EZ. After that, he complained about the office he was working in, claiming his previous office in Issaquah was much nicer. He then talked about his vacation to upcoming vacation to New Orleans for 5 minutes while saying he couldn’t wait for tax season to end. When we told him we thought we needed to pay back our 2008 First Time Home Buyers credit, he started out by acting like he hadn’t heard about that credit. This being the ONLY reason we came to HRBlock in person, we described the background of the credit. He then claimed that we hadn’t brought in the proper paperwork to complete the return if we were going to pay back that credit. He basically encouraged us to submit our return without paying back the credit, saying we could do so at any time. I’m sure we can pay back the loan next year, but would probably incur a lot in penalties for doing so late. We left the appointment without filing. I did the research myself, found out the amount we had to payback (which is incredibly easy to do online with a quick Google search) and found the form needed to complete the credit payback and sent him all the pertinent information with an email. He then called and complained that I hadn’t filled out the IRS forms myself. THAT’S HIS JOB!!! If I’m supposed to know more about filing taxes than my accountant, AND I’m supposed to fill out the paperwork myself, what the hell am I paying you guys $ 250 for? I will NEVER work with HRBlock again.

Usually I do not write negative reviews but hopefully this one helps.
The staff who are mostly men appear frustarted, inpatient and tired. There were a few occasions that I felt threatened as they would either give me a certain look or that they would say something inappropiate.
I would not recommend this place. Custemer service is extremely poor.
