First Leaf Design & Tree Care provides professional tree care services as well as landscape design and installation. Specializing in fruit tree pruning and disease management.

Trees are an integral and highly influential part of our landscape. They can have a profound effect on the character and feeling of a space and thus any pruning or removal needs to be carefully considered. A well cared for healthy tree can increase property values and make a place much more enjoyable to spend time in.

I approach landscape design and tree care from a Permaculture perspective. The more connections each plant or element has to each other, and to the rest of the landscape, the more stable the whole is. These connections (modeled after nature) reduce maintenance and maximize benefits, also known as less work and more fruits and flowers

Business Owner

I’ve spent most of my life observing the natural world. This progressed to studies of ecology, botany, and mycology in college, and most recently to an arborist certification with the International Society of Arboriculture. My recent Permaculture design course certificate from the Bullock’s Permaculture Homestead on Orcas island, complements my many years of gardening and growing food. I graduated from WSU’s Master Gardener program in March 2013.

I’m interested in helping people lessen their impact on the environment by helping them connect to the seasons and natural cycles. I feel the best way to do this is by growing a bit of your own food, be it by planting just one fruit tree or turning what was your lawn into a diverse garden.
