The Fenix is back and poised to reclaim its former glory. There’s no other way of saying it.

I have to agree that the Fenix is hit and miss. I’ve been in were it was pretty damn good, then it was a complete waste of a cover charge. The do seem to be struggling to find their niche. First time I went in they had the Misfits playing, sure they’re post Danzig but it was still a decent show. Then other times I’ve been in and they’d have some cover band playing that should be touring the Casino circuit. My best advice is to get a club pass and stick your head in to see what is going on.

I like the Fenix because there’s always an interesting mix of people, pretty darn good music, and a lot of space to dance and chill out. They have live music, DJs, and local/touring acts to jive to. I don’t come here for the meat market, so I can’t tell you what it’s like, it’s a great place for a group of friends to hang out though, that’s for sure! Their food is alright, kind of tex-mex style, and I’d give the drinks 4 stars. Enjoy!

The Fenix Underground has been a staple in the Seattle scene for many years. After the earthquake in 1996 it was moved to it’s current location in Occidental Park. Since the move it has struggled to find an identity among the clubs in the joint cover group. Sometimes goth(Moonday) sometimes techno(Fri and Sat Downstairs) and sometimes uncertain. Depending on WHEN you visit the Fenix will largely determine what kind of experience you have there. Generally they have some kind of live music upstairs on the weekends but it is very hit or miss. Most of the time you will find bands you thought long dead playing the stage(Berlin for example) or local rock acts who THINK they are the biggest thing since sliced bread but have yet to grip the reality that they are now 40 and have not made it yet. Thursdays are the highlight of the week with the weekly Bedroom Club by local starlets Burning Hearts Burlesque. This is the one night it is okay to just sit back have a drink(overpriced) and watch a true show. Most nights though, you are really gambling by walking in the door. It is a great club, well designed, very interesting interior, but is struggling to find a modern voice. Worth a visit, at least to see what it looks like to spend millions on a new club. Oh and they do have the free pool downstairs!

I completely agree with the other reviewer here. What a waste of real estate. Again, this was another club on the joint cover tour. And another disappointment. I had expectations for this club as I had heard years ago it was a nice goth/industrial haven and enjoyed various cabaret acts. I keep thinking that either the people I spoke to had it wrong or this place took a huge nose dive. The patrons were the general casual baseball cap frat crowd, poseurs from various subcultures and the truly boring. The place was dead in décor, sounds and I didn’t even bother to have a drink there because I was so offended by the aesthetics. Don’t waste your energy or money at this place.

Pure crap. This place is nothing but absolute poseurdom. Whether you’re fake-out hip-hop boy(«Yo I brought my glock G») to poseur goth(«Oh dear, I forgot my razorblades at home in the bathroom») this is your kind of place. Anyone with a lick of sense, or reality wouldn’t spend the exorbant amount of cash they require [cover AND drinks, both of which are poor quality]. I came here expecting a fun night, but ended up leaving with a bad taste in my mouth(not just from the drinks I had).
