Elliott Tire & Service

These guys were Speedy Gonzalez! My battery went out, and I used to go to Sears in SODO (no longer there). Sears would take about 1.5−2 hours to get the battery changed. I called, and the manager asked what kind of car, checked to be sure he had the right kind in stock, so I wouldn’t waste a trip, and told me to come on in. They said it would take ½ hour, but I think they got done in 10 minutes. Thanks, guys! I’ll be taking my car back for an oil change, etc.

Because they’re close to my work, I decided to take my car in for an oil change and tire rotation. When I picked my car up, the maintenance light hadn’t been turned off and my technician was out to lunch. So, another gentleman tried to assist me in turning it off. Whatever, man. Shit happens. I was patiently hanging back, waiting for the job to be completed. He couldn’t do it. Technology, right? So the first guy, who was apparently pissed off about something, gets in my car and slams the door with his whole body. Something didn’t jive with the equipment, so he went inside to get a gadget. Got back in my car and slammed the door as hard as he could once more. It’s fixed. He gets out of my car and slams the door one last time before I take off. I get a call about an hour later from Mr. Doorslammer, informing me that he left an important tool in my car. Not in the cab, but underneath in the oil filter area. So, I had to go back to the shop, where he could lift my car to get the tool out from underneath. Mind you, this is during my work day.
*I decided not to leave a nasty gram that time, because hey, some people have bad days.*
This morning I called to make an appointment, and was met with a stern, argumentative man at the other end of the line. I asked if they were still running the special that they were last time I brought my other car in. He asked «What kind of special? I can’t give you a special unless you know what it is.» Now, I’m not usually a coupon user or a deal shopper, but since my experience the time prior was only borderline acceptable, I thought I would attempt to take advantage of about $ 20 off. Why not? Maybe they can find redemption in a new vehicle to work on? Moving on, if a shop is running a deal on services, shouldn’t said shop be aware of these deals?
Moral: half-​assed job done by rude men who don’t care to work on your car anyway.

Very impressed with the service here. They really know how to take care of their customers. I have been dealing with Elliott Tire for a couple years now. Always a great experience.
Friendly knowledgeable staff. Clean environment as well.

I just had a great experience getting my tire replaced here. The Goodyear in Seattle on Stewart closed and this place honored my warranty and had me on my way in less than 40 minutes.

I just discovered this place after starting a new job in the SODO district here in Seattle. Needed to get my wheels re-​balanced for my road trip over the weekend. I arrived at lunch hour and they were packed, every garage bay had a vehicle in it. Spoke with Chaminda and he encouraged one of the techs to fit me in. I decided to leave my vehicle there and have some other issues worked on as well. The prices they charge are more than fair and competitive. They were also very thorough on inspecting my car and gave me honest recommendations on some of the services needed on my high mileage vehicle. They treated me with the highest degree of professionalism. I will be bringing all 3 of my vehicles here including my wife’s for future services. Finding an honest mechanic & shop with matching quality in service isn’t an easy thing to do. I highly recommend them, 2 thumbs up!

Came in and got an oil change and asked to check my alignment. They had alright customer service up until the point when one of their employees commented on how «surprised» he was because I knew my make, model, year and license plate #. A micro aggression that felt extremely uncomfortable.
After my oil change, the mechanic told me that i needed to replace the shocks, struts and mounts on my car to get rid of the noise I was hearing. It was waaayyy too much. I got out of there. Got a second opinion, and was told that I didn’t need to do any of their suggestions, and another mechanic did it for waaayyy cheaper.
Morale of the story: always get a second opinion and your gender colors people’s perceptions about what you are capable of and your intelligence.

These guys rock! Was heading out of town to drive to Bend, Oregon and noticed my driver’s side tire was losing air. I pulled in to a very busy Elliot Tire service center and explained my situation.
The gentleman at the counter (Steve) said they were about 2 hours out on services but that he’d take a quick look.
Within 20 minutes they had my tire fixed (nail) and didn’t even charge me! Seriously. I’m not even a family relative. I was totally impressed and will go back there for sure if I find myself in Seattle with any auto needs.

Incredible customer service. I originally stopped in because I had a leak in my tire a few years ago. I first went to Costco up the street and was told that I needed new tires (even though they were fairly new). I stopped in at Elliott to get a 2^nd opinion. They were able to fix the tires, saving me a few hundred bucks. When I left, they didn’t even charge me. I asked why and they said «It was an easy repair and we figure if we treat you well you’ll come back.»
They were right. About 2 years later when I actually did need new tires I checked both Elliott and Costco. The price difference wasn’t substantial so I went with Elliott. Service was out standing, always super friendly and fast.
And now about a year later, I got a nail in my tire. They fixed it free. Many places do this, but not with the same level of friendly fast service.
I haven’t had major repairs to my car done here, but from what I’ve experienced I couldn’t recommend them more!

I came back to this place because i needed some new tires and they sold me my previous tires and i still have a good one so i figured i could get 3 new matching ones. I also had serious front end problems and front brakes going out. I decided to give them another chance, and let them do a full assessment. They came back and said I needed $ 1700 worth of work. Not cheap, never is. But this time it was obvious the car needed work. I cross checked the prices of some of the parts against local auto stores, they weren’t marked up too much, within $ 10. They work they did seems good, car rides much better. I’m going to revise my original 1 star and up it to 3. I am still a little dubious from my last visit. The last visit they said it needed a wheel bearing. Now bringing it back to the same place again they did not say it needed a wheel bearing this time. Was it a misdiagnosis? Let’s hope it was a sincere error last time. Anyway So far I feel the work they did this time was decent so I want to give credit for that. It’s hard to trust any auto shop these days, but I try to be fair. Questionable past experiences aside, this time they did a good job, on time and were courteous, so I’m up to 3 stars from 1, that’s not bad since most places once they get 1 star don’t get a 2^nd chance.

These guys are awesome! I got a nail in my tire, I went in early the next morning and they fixed it in less than 20 mins and it was FREE! The guys were super nice. Did I mention the repair was free? When I have to get new tires these guys will be the place I go to.

Beware of the «upsell»…they basically will want to reconstruct every mechanical component on your car if you let them. Used car scare tactics that scare you into the poorhouse.
Parts prices were double what is available online and even at the dealership ($ 540 for front brake pads). Dealer had the same EOM parts for $ 260, and they were online for $ 165.
Prepare yourself for being scared into fixing a ton of things you had no idea were broken, and if you can get a second opinion you should definately do it.

Ok shop, not good or great, just ok. My car broke down in Seattle (coming from Portland) and was towed to this shop because the transmission went out. Worst possible repair pretty much. Mind you my car is old and RARE – 1994 V6 Ford Tempo.
This shop didn’t have the multiple options that I was used to from my amazing shop in Portland. They only offered to rebuild the trans or replace it. That’d just be stupid money on my part. I could get a much newer car for the $ 2300 rebuild quote.
I called every junk yard in Seattle and found one «working» tranny from NIX that the shop said didn’t work after the labor of inserting (580 $). Called all over Portland as well and couldn’t find one. Then just for kicks called my shop of choice which told me they could find a certified used from the yard they like for around $ 400 including labor. Or slightly used for 1000 $ or new for $ 2000. Damn. Learned my lesson. RENT A CAR. Too bad I’m under 25… sigh.
They don’t offer free towing w/​service like most shops unfortunately, but they did lend me a loaner for a few days which got me home while they tried to install the used one. Expensive trip but just bought a much younger car and donated Celly (a few cute dimples from the first owner) to the Seattle Humane Society with her new tires, breaks, belts, and all. At least something good came of the disaster trip!

I’ve been to Elliott on 2^nd and in West Seattle. First experience was great, went in for a break check for some uneven braking on my Ford truck. They did the honest thing and sad the drums had become disconnected and connected them just for the charge of the inspection nothing more. This sold me on them and I thought I had found an honest repair shop. A year later I front end hub break and barely made it to the 2^nd have shop and that’s when they bent me over. Charging me top dollar for a part and repair that should have been half the price. I’m an FAA A&P and know something about mechanical repair but I was screwed cause they had torn it apart and I was stuck. I paid, I knew I was getting screwed, but what can you do? Then come 13 months after the repair and my ABS light goes off. I try to give Elliot another shot this time in West Seattle and come to find out the sensor on the hub I just replaced a year earlier failed. The Elliot in West Seattle looked up my previous repair and I was out of warranty by just one month. And here’s the kicker — the manager at the West Seattle Elliot was shocked that I paid 1200 for the repair and quoted me 650 to do the same repair at his West Seattle location. You’d think he noticed I got screwed by his SODO location they would just do the repair, no. Now fast forward a few months and I go back to get my plugs replaced using one of there coupons on their sight, only to be told that they cannot honor the coupon because it’s going to take a couple hours to replace my plugs? Really, I’ve replaced my plugs twice on this truck and it’s taken me less then 45min, how the hell does a professional mechanic with all the right tools say they need 2 hours. Definite up sell, never going back

I had a excellent experience with these guys when I blew out the side wall on my tire.
I arrived before they were even open and I was promptly helped. I was in a rush to get
somewhere and I was offered a loaner vehicle no charge! Dealing with them was so easy and they were very courteous! I even got a follow up call a few days later to see how my new tire was doing. They also did an alignment and the tire is gaurenteed.
I wasnt happy to have blown out my tire, but was so very lucky that these guys were close by!
I was blown away by the customer service, they were fast, friendly and the manager even came out to bring me my invoice because he knew I was in a hurry!

Awesome customer service! I stopped in to get a bulb changed on my car. They offered me a free burger (Sat at lunchtime they were grilling outside) and then fixed the problem on the spot. The price was right and they were kind enough not to try and up-​sell me or treat me like a girl (which happens often at service centers). Thanks! Great experience.

I have takend my car to this place many times. I was a fan, but now I’m not. Although I am not a mechanic, I know what the issue is from logic and deduction. They didn’t fix the issuse, and it cost me many pretty pennies. They didn’t give me a final quote, so I had a little sticker shock when I paid the bill. I also broke down in BFE. They told me to tow the car and they will deal with it. Yeah… like I’m going to go back and pay for the tow. Review might not make sense, maybe I should put on my glasses, but the point is that I’m not a happy camper.

In the recent unsalting and snowfall on Seattle streets, I was travelling through and was unlucky enough to get a flat tire. It was late but Elliot Tire picked up the phone (even though they weren’t open) and were extremely helpful, telling me how I could drive the car there while my tire still had air in it and drop the keys off and they would fix it in the morning.
I was really nervous after reading the reviews and having signed off for all necessary repairs, without an estimate, on the key drop form.
They were really busy but got to my car pretty quickly and were done by after lunch. They did a simple tire fix for an unbelievably cheap $ 17. I’m now back in Canada and drove on the highway with it and in more snow and no problems. They also topped off the air in the other tires for free.
They were really a life saver, I couldn’t be happier.

I just took my 2002 Camry to this auto repair shop. My car was due for a 90k service. I received excellent customer service from the mechanic there. The 90k service took about 1 hour and he came back with a list of items — indicating the most urgent and non-​urgent. He was very professional and explained everything in full. I did end up paying more than expected due to the extra repair but I think that it was necessary. I would recommend this place due to the great service.
