Great meat shop. Good Quality and quantity of beef, pork and lamb meets. Nicer than whole foods. Give them a shot. Love the ground beef, many of the local restaurants use their ground beef in burgers.

Great place to pick up that special cut of meat for that special someone! This place does not offer cheap Grocery Outlet prices, but the meats are of quality and sometimes from local WA ranches! I picked up 2.5 pounds of Double R Ranch corned beef from WA for $ 9.99 a pound ($ 25 altogether). The beef and the service was great! I’ll definitely be back to try their «trail mix» of cheeses and jerky.

I’ve been purchasing various meats here since the 70’s, and I thought it was time I write a review. What can I say about this Seattle institution other than the meats are fantastic and the guys behind the counter are the best in the business. They have special ordered and special cut so many things for me, and the quality has never declined. Sometimes their product can be a little more expensive than other places, but it is worth every penny. Thanks for so many years of superior service, guys.

Trail mix beef jerky is fantastic! I couldn’t have done hikes in the Rainier area without it!

Got the trail mix, as many Unilocalers recommended. It’s a mixture of all the cheese and jerky and sticks of meat that Don and Joe’s carries. It was quite delicious and packed a kick of spice. I loved the cheese inside the mix, and the jerky was also great.
One thing I can say about this mix is that it is a bit on the pricy side. However, it is a nice treat once in a while and it could make a good gift to give the foodie in your life.

Right next to Pike Place Fish Market is this meat shop. since we’re visitors, we didn’t need any fresh meat to cook, but the beef jerky sticks were what attracted us over. We bought a couple of sticks and cheese. What a great way to snack and walk around the market! Yummy. mouth is watering thinking of the spicy beef jerky stick!

They have an awesome selection of meats and very very reasonable prices. What intrigued me was their «trail mix» which was different bite size meats and cheeses. The guys working here seemed very friendly and all smiles. I’ve actually been here before, however, most recently with my girlfriend was attracted since I saw their «trail mix»

I adore Don and Joe’s. You can really go pretty well tip to tail here. Recently had a beautiful ribeye which we cooked side by side with a ribeye from Whole Foods. The Don and Joe’s was superior without question, and less expensive. My favorite part of this butcher, though, is that they carry bull and lamb fry, aka testicles. Whenever I’m in town, I stop by and stock up, as they’re frozen and transport well back to Portland. If you’ve never fixed them, you should. Buttery, tender and delicious. Everything here is fine quality, and it’s located in the national treasure which is Pike Place Market. Bonus.

Don and Joe’s is the real deal. I am a local and have shopped around for good meat. Don and Joe’s is like the butcher shop you went to with your mom or grandmother. While shopping at the market can be challenging with parking etc Don and Joe’s is worth the effort.
Recently made short rib ravioli, the short ribs from here were great. Bacon and sausage are excellent. Don’t think because of the market, prices will be high, there not.
I grocery shop at met market, I buy all meat from Don and Joe’s.

Love this place. Great selection of meat cuts. Got some chicken, lean beef and liver. Prices are reasonable. They clean and cut up a whole chicken for you. The beef was so tender and flavorful. Cooked real fast and tasted great. Went there on a sat. There were several folks to serve so no wait. Very friendly. Imma repeat customer

I’ve been looking at this place for a while and today purchased a few of their brats for dinner. They were delicious! Can’t wait to try the pork chops I also bought tomorrow night. Their bulk specials — packages of certain cuts — look to be good value. I’ll be back!

Don and Joe’s is located in the corner next to where the Pike Place Market fish guys throw their halibut.
I don’t cook often, but when I do, it’s usually meat. Everyone knows that the best meat in town comes from here and Rain Shadow Meats. I can personally attest to that… and would be here more often if I worked closer/​it didn’t close so early. I’ve purchased many meats from Jon and Joe’s like rabbit and pork chops, most recently several cuts of the rib eye. We literally didn’t have to do anything to prepare it; it was perfect on its own. A little salt and pepper and throw it on the grill to medium rare and it was PERFECT… so flavorful, juicy and tender… and not that flavorless stuff you get at the store.
All the meats at their counter look great! The staff is quick and friendly and very open to any questions or prep inquiries you might have. They let you point to the specific cuts you want and faster than you can say «foie gras» you’re on your way.
Tip: Also, check out their exotic meats fridge (to the left most side of the front of the counter). It has a lot of interesting options that are hard to come by and great for any meat connoisseur.

Mom’s been taking me here since I was little. These guys are so accommodating. Maybe it’s a little more than a grocery store, but they are professionals. The meat people at the grocery store are packers, not butchers; plus you get to interact with the owner’s! I know I can count on D&J’s for quality product and service.

Picked up a half pound of beef jerky for my day trip up to Victoria. Good stuff.

Outstandingly fresh meats and very knowledgeable and helpful butchers. I’ve been a regular here since I moved to Seattle 6 months ago. If you like your meat fresh, want to know all about the product you are buying, have it cleaned and butchered exactly to your liking and all this done by a guy with a big smile, this is the place to go to. They are pretty inexpensive too which is an added bonus. I’m surely going to keep going here whenever I need meat.

5 stars for my previous purchase — an incredible free range chicken and great service. This last round 1 star for anything but fresh quail. Didn’t notice how bad they were until I got home — that was $ 18 thrown away.
I will go back as these things can happen — (and you bet I’ll check out the purchase more carefully) — and hopefully I can give a better rating.

Lamb shanks look good today, but overall this is one of our goto places. Only Rainforest Meats up a little bit up Pike is truly amazing (with truly amazing prices). But this is a place that cuts their meat fresh and they really do car. You can ask for your lamb frenched and they will do it with a smile.
So when you are shopping at the market, make it a Sosios, Pure Seafood and then Don and Joe’s run…

A little pricey, but you’re paying for great quality meat. Don’t read this the wrong way but Don and Joe’s have the best sausages in town! We were dining at Fonte, a restaurant not too far from Pike Place Market, and they recommended us to come down here, even though they’re located in tourist-​trap-​central. We do not regret making the trip down here and will definitely be back for more meats in the future!

Real meat, for real people.
These guys are true old school craftsman. They have a great product, they will cut to order in front of you. If you haven’t seen something like this before (and I hadn’t) I was darned impressed with the ease and skill with which they put my order together, when it turned out my recipe featured a cut they didn’t have in the case.
I had no idea how much skill went into butchering. Completely impressed. This place is like butchering time travel –felt like I was back in time and getting a great local product, excellent service and a reasonable price.
Ominvore much? Done and done!
