I missed my ferry so bellied up to the bar here. I had their house Chardonnay which wasn’t bad and a «manmosa» which was a mimosa with ice in a pint glass after I saw someone else get it. The bartender, Lauren was the bartender and she did an awesome job at keeping everyone happy.

Stopped by and got some spiced apple cider before boarding the Ferry. Super friendly service and a perfect temp, hot apple cider for the chilly ride!

The Commuter Comforts Café and Wine Bar has a nice seating area and good looking menu options for being in the ferry terminal of Seattle. I only wanted something warm so I ordered a drink off their feature board, the hot apple cider. Standing there watching the barista make this drink, I was surprised to see that the hot apple cider was just headed up Trader Joe’s apple cider… I expected more. Not even syrup or any topping in the cup to make it festive. Just the drink from the TJ’s bottle, to the barista steam wand, then to my cup. When I am paying as much for the cup as I would for the entire bottle from trader joe’s…I’m sorry, but you should do more if you are featuring this drink on one of your main menu boards. Perhaps they have other items which are crafted more carefully, but this was a large turnoff to this café.

Wife enjoyed the Mocha, I had a beer while we waited for the ferry. Barista and Bar Tender were both very friendly and helpful in recommendations. I could tell both are experienced and ready to expedite the service up if you are short on time.

Great place to grab a glass of wine, cocktail, or beer before getting on the ferry, but the food is only okay. I got a small kale salad which tasted good but I’m pretty sure it was mixed greens/spring salad and not kale because there wasn’t any kale to be found or tasted. The waitress(she provided really quick service for wo-manning the whole floor on her own, so props!) mentioned that she couldn’t make a mojito because the produce just got delivered and it was still packed in boxes in the back, so I’m thinking maybe the kale was packed away too. Although I understand not wanting to unpack produce boxes when it’s busy with people waiting to catch ferries, I find it a little silly to make your patrons suffer by not getting to order what they want because the staff isn’t willing to go to the effort. The«pork belly» on the salad was barely edible(way over cooked, actually it could have definitely been left over from the day before) but the rest of the salad was good tasting. Great tasting red wine vinaigrette actually! The wine selection was good and service was quick, so I still enjoyed myself overall. I’d give them another shot next time I’m waiting for the ferry.

Really nice employees. Good coffee. Nice selection of local baked goods. A little pricey.

Great service! Great way to pass the time waiting for a ferry. I had the chowder and was pleasantly surprised at how tasty it was. This place doesn’t seem like a run of the mill terminal stop. Friendly staff and speedy service. Prices are moderate. Medium sized chowder was 6.95. Limited seating. Great ambiance among travelers.

Convenient place inside the Washington State Ferry terminal to grab some refreshments before boarding. Prices aren’t bad and the offerings much better than one might expect from the location. I grabbed an herbal iced tea that was fruity and floral. BF picked up a very tempting looking gigantic cookie and ice cream sandwich. That thing was the size of a baby’s head. Huge. Both the chocolate chip cookie with vanilla ice-cream and almond cookie with huckleberry ice-cream sandwiches looked and sounded better than they tasted. But you seriously can’t beat the prices.

Definitely a must go to type if bar if you have some time to kill while waiting for the ferry. It’s literally in the ferry terminal so you can have a drink while waiting for the ferry. The bloody merry was really good(had 4) only thing is the bartenders … They are super nice but very scatter brained. It took 2 people to notice that I was sitting there for almost 10 minutes before being offered a drink. They seemed to be busy watching TV, on cell phones and flirting with a guy. I would have gave more stars if I had better service.

The bartender/server with short hair is the great, holy, righteous Prima Donna. Everything has to be her way; lord help you if you have an issue. One thing is certain: your experience at Commuter Comforts will hinge entirely on her whim and mood, for she is High Empress. So kiss the ring and(maybe) you’ll be fine. Or maybe if she’s there, you’d be better off crossing the ramp to the Forge where you’ll be treated like a human.

A nice surprise at the ferry building. Great characters behind the counter and service and quality to go with it. Food options to meet the herbivores to carnivores in your life. The best treat is the off menu Hyper Oreo Shake. 2 shots of espresso blended with their menu Oreo Cookie Milk Shake. It is DaBomb!!! A must order before your trip to Bainbridge island.

Most disgusting service ever! Ordered their spiced apple cider which is just apple juice heated up. The waitress with short hair took my order and made it. What happened next was gross. I saw her dip her finger after she completed my drink into the whip cream tube not my drink thankfully then proceeded to lick her finger! And after she charged me she dropped my CC right into the dirty mop head. She acted like that was okay and I told her to clean my card before handing it back. This place is so disgusting I will never ever come back here. If the waitress is dirty I can only imagine the establishment. Hell to the no. Gave my cider to a man who needed a warm drink and bounced from there.

Get a coffee milkshake and a pastry… You will be set and not sorry. Avoid the pizza… Not worth it and will make your overall impression of this place go down.

Now that ivar’s is closed for 2014, this is basically the only place you can get a drink while waiting for a ferry. They do a good job, it’s comfortable, with good choices on the menu. The great thing about Commuter Comforts is that they totally get ferry riders. They know when it’s important to turn a check around quickly — they’re on top of it. They generally deliver most of the checks all at once, before you ask, just when the ferry arrives. It makes you feel good when your servers understand you. However, there are some misses. Tonight, for example, my spring roles were hot on the outside and frozen on the inside… I have a hard time giving them 3 stars for that, but there are all the reasons I listed above…

Tasty tasty coffee milkshake so YUM. Pizza was 5 minute freezer pizza-esque. Staff was friendly and it was nice that this was in here while waiting for the ferry so we didn’t have to go to Subway or some other chain.

Where the bartenders always know your name and usually your drink. Great bustle bar with super good eats. Worth missing a ferry on purpose to enjoy the sun at the outside tables with your favorite iced beverage. Try a toddy in the winter months!

An easy and fast place to pop into if you’re looking for a relaxing oasis amidst a commuter backdrop/bunch of sheeple. The bartenders are talkative, funny and know the ferry schedules like the backs of their hand. Drink selection is pretty thorough and they know how to make a variety of off-menu cocktails. Feel free to drink and dash or hang out and people watch until last call for boarding after a few more boats have come and gone.

Yes. Five star. Indeed. I love this place. I’m usually rushing for the ferry home but on the off chance I have time to spare, I love hittin’ up this place. I also have very fond memories of the day after I gave birth to my son, having brought to me in the car waiting area… french fries, a margarita pizza & one of THE best oatmeal raisin cookies I’d ever had in my life. Now, mind you, I had just birthed a baby, so needless to say I was depleted of nutrients & had been runnin’ on hospital foods for a bit. This place. All the way. That being said… I’d love to make mention of my latest visit. I don’t know why, but I just GOTTA! For shits & giggles… To say the least, was my least favorite visit of all. And then to say much, much more… To the female server who was clearly a fan of the Seahawks(I know this by the way her back was to us most of the time due to the game being on. OH and her jersey, of course)… I have been a waitress before, a damn good one too. I took great pride in it, in fact. So when I see a not-too-busy restaurant with customers who need to approach the the staff(when never having had to do so before on previous visits with previous lovely waitresses) only to have our ordering be interrupted by a customer who had already been served but wanted another beer because, his words, «everyone says» he’s more interesting when he’s drunk, and hey, they might be right… Him & our waitress carried on for a bit & then I politely asked him if it was OK for me to order something first before he got his 2nd(or whateverTH beer)… but I digress. Anyway, we ordered our food, no big. YET my one very light-hearted, but still very serious request due to too much«fun» the night before… was, «SOMUCHWATER.» Water is/was crucial. We each got a glass of water, then… no more came. You would think that once you have a table with customers eating food & their one special request, and ONLY beverage, was WATER… well, damn. That is about the easiest thing to fulfill. Anyhooot… None of this is reeeeeally relevant because this place IS great on location, food, drinks, etc… so I just want to add one more thing… Lady, when you hang your towel on your pants, put it in your POCKET rather than IN your PANTS. Ew. Oh, and one more thing… the oatmeal raisin I tried to enjoy THIS time. I’ll just say, it longed for better days. Stale cookies are sad, guys. Make sure those are rotated out, mmmkaaay? So in conclusion, this was a isolated event & I will totally be back, but just had to say SOMEthing. Ya feel me?
