I’ve gone to Dr. Chan several times now and felt impressed enough to leave a well-deserved review. He’s always brisk and thorough and all of his recommendations and treatments so far have been effective. His front staff is very warm and flexible too, allowing me to keep my appointment the other afternoon even though I was running pretty late from the East side. Overall I respect his expertise and highly recommend.

Dr. Chang is an expert diagnostician with a dry sense of humor. I have gone to him intermittently for skin issues over the past 3 years. His receptionist is friendly and the rooms are clean(I am an RN, so this is important to me). It is not the slick Derm clinic that does Botox and cosmetic procedures, so I feel some reviewers may be used to that sort of design. He offers expert advice and always fits me in on short notice. Highly recommend Dr. Chang for the odd rash or chronic skin issues you may encounter.

First of all the examination room was filthy. The table was cracking off vinyl and the chair was crusty. Dr. Chang told me in so many words that I shouldn’t be on my medication and that the cause of my genetic disease was wrong. Hmmm, the Cleveland Clinic Foundation and the university of Edinboro confirmed the cause and diagnosis. He didn’t give me a prescription for the meds I was on from my family doctor. He told me the ointment I was using couldn’t possibly work. Well, it does and my family doctor just wanted me to have a dermatologist for follow ups. Dr. Chang mentioned I should read the Bible and then he went off on something about Obama. No part of my conversation even hinted at what he was saying. i need a new dermatologist-Dr. Chang is not my choice at all.

The good: Dr. Chang spent plenty of time and answered all of my questions. The bad: He only glanced at my new area of complaint(lower back) and did not look at all at my scalp, relying instead on my statement that another dermatologist said I had scalp psoriasis. He prescribed a new medication but no instructions on how it fit in with my current medication regimen or even whether I was supposed to use it on my back or scalp or both. Responses to other reviews: I found the receptionist to be quite pleasant, maybe it depends on the day.

I was recommended to Dr. Chang because another dermatologist was booked for 6 months straight! The receptionist here was very rude. When I asked her a few questions regarding the forms, she gave me a slight attitude. The wait time was good and they had a variety of RECENT magazines that kept me entertained. When Dr. Chang first came into the room, he stared at me for a bit until he asked me how I was doing. He asked me a bunch of questions regarding my past medical history. Throughout the entire appointment, he just asked questions one after another. I had to repeat myself several times. Not once did he even bother looking at my skin, which was the reason why I was there. I felt like I was being interviewed the entire visit. He asked me some quite personal information which had nothing to do with my skin/medical history. I was reluctant on sharing that information and probably came off as rude, which I hadn’t intend. But as a doctor, you should be professional about situations like that. Dr. Chang was not. I am NEVER coming back to this place ever again nor will I ever recommend it to someone.

Dr. Chang has a direct yet easy-going manner. He knows his stuff and takes care of you in an efficient way. His office space is a little plain but I don’t need fancy furnishings. He’s very good at what he does.
