Unique original art as well. We provide complimentary in-​store design consults and also provide in-​home design consultations. Established in 1997.

Camelion Design has been in Ballard for over 18 years providing beautiful furniture, upholstery, home décor and cool gifts that will appeal to a wide audience. Our ever changing displays of sectionals, sofas, chairs, pillows, art, lighting, rugs will want you to come back to the store over and over again to discover our new treasures. We offer free design consults to make your pad go from blah to rad!

Our front counter is filled with wonderful jewelry from local artist near and far and we offer a smashing selection of greeting cards, paper product and books. A small but sweet section of baby/​toddler wear and gifts rounds out our selection.

Initially, the smell when you walk in the front door is a bit overwhelming. I would guess it is caused by the amount of soap, perfume, lotion, etc right near the entrance.
Once you get past that, this is a very cute and well designed store. One of those «I must go in because everything looks so pretty» kind of places.
I purchased one of the 5 year one-​line books. I’m excited to enjoy this years from now.

The thing that separates a good business from a great one is customer service. There are many cute shops where one can find lovely things, and Camelion is one of them. However, I had an instance in which I had to avail myself of their ‘after-​sale’ assistance. I interacted with several folks at the store, and all of them, especially the owner, Nicole, were professional, kind, helpful and engaged. The customer service here is rare, and I trust them. Camelion is a well run business with values that one seldom finds these days.

The words that sprang to mind while I was in Camelion were «chintzy» and «kitschy.» Its target audience appears to be une femme d’un certain âge. 40+, perhaps. As a 25-​year-​old woman, I was utterly ignored the entire time I was in the store, though I watched the women working there gush over other guests. I don’t like to be coddled while I shop, but I do appreciate a «hello» at least.
Some of the things in Camelion are very nice. They have a large variety of candles and soaps. I liked some of the furniture, too. But a lot of their stock seemed overwrought to me, too precious, a little tacky. I could have found something I would have liked to take home, I’m sure, but I wasn’t inclined to stay long enough to find it.
Take your Midwestern aunts here, they’ll love it!

This is my very favorite store in all of Seattle, and it has been for about a decade now. I love love love them. My husband can always find me amazing little gifts here, and they have lovely stuff at Christmas, lovely greeting cards, and lovely baby/​kiddie items too. Plus don’t overlook their selection of fantastic leather purses/​bags scattered throughout the store! Their design is always evolving, but it’s pretty much always spot on with my taste. If I won the lottery I’d stop here first.
They also seem to have fantastic prices on upholstered furniture, with loads of great helper-​bees. We have yet to actually place an order, but I’m blown away by the price tags on their floor models! They have great lamps/​lighting fixtures too but those aren’t so affordable.
I’ve called and bugged them to cut me a deal or special order stuff before, and the staff and owner are all super helpful and friendly. And they recognize me now because I come in so dang much. DO NOT miss this spot if you’re bringing out of towners to Ballard, or if you’re at the Sunday market anyway! And don’t forget to pop into Lucca next door. :)

This store rocks. Half of my house is from Camelion Design, well maybe a little less. They have great unique pieces I can’t find anywhere else. I visit it all the time and always find something new. Love it.

What? I haven’t reviewed Chamelion yet? This is one of my must-​browse shops when I’m in Ballard. The shop aesthetic is a bit busy for my taste — there are things in every corner, but since the shop is set up to make each area of the store look like a mini room, the overall vibe comes off a bit more cluttered than I think they probably intend it to. The amount of decorative items on the bookshelves and coffee tables and whatnot is great to look at, yes, and I love the variety of merchandise, but it also makes me feel like they don’t really want me to be wandering from one part of the store to another, sitting on couches and chairs and lingering over pretty serving trays as I go.
Many of the smaller accessories are on the more inexpensive side of things as compared to other design stores, and they have a small sale area in back, in addition to gift items like books and «Porn for Women» calendars. Um… yeah, the store is geared to appeal to women. The more I think about it, the more I have a hard time picturing a man walking in and thinking, «Man, that’s a great chair, I should get one.» So, this isn’t the kind of design store where I’d make a big purchase, if only because I’d have to drag Boyfriend in.
I DO love the selection of jewelry here, and it seems like most of it is made by local artisans. Definitely check it out!

Haven’t bought anything here, but strolled in the store while walking the streets of Ballard. Great selection of furniture and other fancy knick-​knacks. A bit pricey, but quality of products looks high.
When I was there, they had a sale going on for upholstered items.

I absolutely loved this store. In fact, I was surprised to realize that I hadn’t reviewed it before as this most recent trip wasn’t my first. Nor my last!
Whether you’re looking for clothing, accessories, stationary, jewelry or even furniture, Camelion Design has some fantastic finds. This store is not to be missed when you’re in the Ballard area. Great for gifts for friends or even yourself! In fact, I plan to pop by again tomorrow when I’m in Ballard for the market. Can’t wait!

LOVE this place. No joke. Bought my first sofa ever, for my first apartment here. Bionda was crazy, super, over-​the-​top nice! She didn’t try to push anything on me, but gave great insight and I’m so thankful! I’m sitting on it as we speak!
There are a lot of different things to choose from– a good mash-​up of all styles. There’s really something for everyone and the price point is reasonable.

By far my all time favorite home furnishings store. If you haven’t been here yet, a visit is in order soon. I visit this place frequently … mainly to fantasize about my next piece of furniture and where I’d put it.
Unlike mainstream furniture stores, this place has a style of its own. Each piece is unique, but Nicole and her staff find ways to display them to indicate that not everything in a room needs to «match». I want to live here!
I have purchased everything here from home furnishings, birthday cards, necklaces, a day bed, and baby gifts. Next up, a gorgeous sofa with clean lines, upholstered with a natural-​colored linen fabric. Ah …
Stop in and browse and I’m 100% sure you’ll agree.

This place has so much gorgeous furniture and so many cool accent pieces that I basically just want to move in and live here full time. Or at least go in and purchase everything for my own home!
They also have all sorts of other items like greeting cards, handbags, and jewelry. There’s also a cute little children’s section with toys, stuffed animals, and furniture. It’s definitely fun to browse all the unique items in here!
The only downside is that the items are a bit pricey for someone like me. It’s unlikely I’d purchase anything for myself here until my salary increases quite significantly, but it’s definitely a great place to find a small, unique gift for someone else!

All I know about Camelion is that they have an excellent selection of cards with cute sayings. I got a birthday card for a friend here, and she thought the sentiment in the card was especially sweet. Yay! :)

i would live here if I could…
I love the owner of Camelion Design, Nicole, she is crazy nice! I She somehow manages to make everybody in the store feel like they are getting her full attention… all at the same time! trust me, you need to meet this woman! Her staff is equally as charming.
Okay, enough about the excellent staff! They also have the coolest stuff for your home and gift giving needs… I could shop in here for hours! I like what another Unilocaler said about their stuff not being too mod or shabby chic but kind of like a tasteful, classy blend of the two.
I bought my very own home a little bit ago and the first piece of nice furniture I bought was a great mocha brown suede couch from them! I get so many compliments, everybody loves my couch. :-)
One of my other favorite purchases from them so far is this gorgeous, unique large lamp. If you look in image 10 of their photos, it is that round lamp on top of the shelf… it is so pretty, i love seeing it in my home everyday!
I have also bought many gifts for friends there, …it’s truly my fave home/​gift shop. I was just in the other day and for owl lovers like moi, they have a ton of owl themed gifts right now!

I bought a floor model couch from them at a really good price, and I love it. The only (minor) complaint is the somewhat uneven customer service.
The first salesperson I worked with was fabulous — she told me about the couch and talked with me about decorating options (not trying to sell me something, but to educate me about how to envision a room and how the pieces work together). I really appreciated that.
Because I had to check on some measurements, I didn’t buy it then. When I went back the next day, I worked with a different salesperson. She was cool (as in cold, not hip). I had to seek out help (rather than it coming to me) and even once I found it, she was much less accommodating and patient. I kind of felt like she didn’t want to waste her time on someone buying a floor model (not that there were any other customers in the store for her to help). She just wanted me in and out. She was also less helpful on arranging the delivery than the other salesperson had been, and I ended up hiring my own delivery guys.
Despite this, my overall experience was good and I love my couch. I will buy something from them again.

Such amazing stuff! A great range of prices, and their customer service really makes an effort to be top notch but then failed pretty badly on one big occasion.
the only reason it isn’t five stars is an experience with delivery.
We were told by the sales person that the item would be here «for sure» within 2 weeks. technically they have until 6 weeks, and when the item didn’t arrive until that 6th week, we felt horribly misinformed and we would never have expected it to come before that time, except that we had been assured multiple times that it will be there «before 6 weeks – for sure»
When we had called multiple times wondering where it was, after the third time, I felt like the annoying person, and then someone finally said they would find an update. I was surprised that they didn’t do that the first time. Turns out it had been lost «somewhere between where it left from and where it is supposed to be» no kidding.
I felt like for as much as we were spending and for how many times we inquired, and after it was lost, they would have covered the shipping cots for us, but the response when we asked was that «it is really hard economic times» no kidding, I know, and I still managed to spend almost $ 2,000 on furniture from you…

There are so many things here that I liked, it’s hard to single anything out. But I’m all about specifics, so here goes:
The owner, Nicole, as other people have mentioned, understands the word ‘service’ in every sense of the word. She is all about creating relationships with customers, which I find is sadly lacking in other retail businesses. She was super friendly, and talked with us for a long time, which gave us a real appreciation for the store and her business approach. Unlike other boutiques, I felt like EVERYTHING was approachable, luxurious, and comfortable. Even her dog, who hangs out in the store!
We got lost in the letterpress cards. They were SO FUNNY. All of the cards she has there are solid – good brands, unique, charming, humorous – and since I am The Card Queen, you know I’m going back. Between the cards at Trophy Cupcakes and Camelion Design, I’ll be set for the year.
I feel like there are a lot of boutiques out there that feature furniture, candles, cards, kids’ items, accessories, handbags, and more… why not give your money to the one that will treat you like a friend? It’s just nicer for all involved. You won’t be sorry, only sorry that your bank account isn’t a little bit bigger.

One of my favorite places. Nicole is the owner and she is wonderful. They are one of those places you love to give your money to because they know you, they remember you, and they show their true and genuine appreciation for your business.
Their sense of style really goes from classic to modern, with lots of home accessories, a fun girly bath stuff corner, local jewelry etc. Also don’t be fooled and think that they only have what is in the store at the moment, they have huge catalogs full of furniture and fabric options and they can get things in short time frames. I have even bought just fabric for reupholstering there. They also know the area well and are an excellent source for referrals if they don’t have what you need.
I am surprised by some reviews I see that say they are pricey, I guess it depends on your comparison but for me they seem extremely reasonable for the quality they always carry. I have literally never had an item that I was unhappy with that was purchased here.
I agree with other reviews I see that they are an excellent present source, I have bought many hostess/​housewarming gifts here, and whenever I sell a house in Ballard I get my client a gift certificate.

I would love to buy almost everything in here — lovely kitchen accessories, knick knacks with no purpose other than to beautify your home, a tempting jewelry section, bath and body luxuries, stylish purses, fluffy rugs, tons of greeting cards… the list goes on and on.
This shop is a little spendy but always fun to walk around in. It’s also the perfect place to find a gift!
But the main reason I give Camelion Design five stars is because of their exemplary staff. They are happy to help you find just what you’re looking for, even if it means suggesting other stores for you to try instead — it’s nice to know they’re not completely after your money and are perhaps more interested in your happiness…

If you are afraid that you and/​or your home lack style just start shopping here and you can fool everyone.
It’s not über-​modern, it’s not shabby chic, it’s just stylish. Clean lines, dashes of color, good solid furniture, with the occasional bit of whimsy thrown in… yeah, they get it.
If you have been searching all over for a couch, your adventure may end here, or you may just pick up a couple of lamps and call it a day. They also have fancy candles, a randomly nice selection of jewelry, and some of the wittiest cards in all of Seattle.
This store is one of the reasons I have to limit my time in Ballard.
