Skarbos Furniture

I went to this store during the last ruse of a «Sale». There is nothing special here and no customer service at all.
No wonder, Skarbo’s is «going out of business». again.
What a dump!
I learned that they are going to open a Pet Store selling Fjord Monkeys.
I wish them the best.

I found Mike at Skarbos a pleasure to work with. The chair didn’t arrive quite when it was supposed to but it came soon after and Mike had it assembled and delivered quickly and easily. I think he’s a man of his word and I definitely recommend Skarbos.

They have been having some confusing retirement sale since I moved here over three months ago. I’ve been here three times looking at different things, the last time looking for mattresses. They had great deals on mattresses but I have never seen anyone who works here! I see lots of people looking around but after being unable to figure out who can help me, I have found furniture elsewhere.

I found a chair online that I loved. It was the same brand as our other two chairs and I wanted a third for my new office.
Thinking that the prices at the online stores would be more reasonable, I set out spending way too much time searching. Then, I called Skarbos. The gentleman with whom I spoke was so easy to deal with. Because I knew the brand and style of chair I wanted, I simply described it and he ordered it for me. Easy as that. They were even having a sale so I got a discount that none of the other stores offered.
The warehouse sent the wrong style to the store, which caused a delay. But Skarbos made it right with free delivery.
I would hands down choose Skarbos over the other Scandanavian/​Modern furniture stores. They are local, provide better service, and have better quality products.

I recently received my Lazar sofa and BDI end table from Skarbos, and I couldn’t be happier.
I grew up in a furniture store very similar to Skarbos. My mom carried many of the same brands Skarbos does, so I definitely felt at home as soon as I walked in. My main mission: a sofa for my brand new apartment (see my review of Broadstone Koi Apartments.) I wanted something contemporary but comfortable and affordable. It couldn’t be too big, but needed to be big enough. It need to be bold and yet not overpower the entire room.
I found the Lazar sofa almost immediately, just needed to decide on fabric and whether I would choose a sofa sleeper or a regular sofa. (I am so glad I chose to NOT go with the sleeper as those can be HEAVY! Not ideal for apartment living.)
The fabric selection was the hard part. Peter recommended a pallet I liked, and I debated for a couple hours which one would work. You have to understand… all my life, my mom made these decisions. She was the furniture expert in the house… the pressure was on to make this totally adult decision on my own.
I did it. I ordered it, I ordered the end table from BDI. (I absolutely LOVE the BDI products… so smart and sensible.)
The wait for the sofa was long (leave it to me to pick a fabric that was not readily available.) However, it was FULLy worth the wait. Peter and his folks totally took care of me. Now I have future furniture I will need to buy there… the mattress selection is pretty awesome including a local line that I really like.
I love my home now. I am so grateful for Skarbos!

Pompass a-​holes

This tucked away Skarbos is a lot smaller than the Tukwila location but obviously much better located if you’re living in/​around the Seattle area. It also makes sense for this store to be here because Skarbos specializes in modern Scandinavian design and Ballard is known for its strong Scandinavian roots.
After spending entirely too much time online and at cheaper (build-​it-​yourself) furniture stores, we resorted to Unilocal for help. Duh, right?!
I spied a lot of lovely pieces for any home and any price range. Really specific about the height of a buffet I’ve been looking for, I was bummed to find that a lot of the furniture here is a little low to the ground. Of course this makes total sense because of the style and type of design, but I was hoping for something just a wee bit taller. I do still love and appreciate the style and would consider coming back if I were looking for anything else. They’ve got great bedroom, living room and dining room furniture. The wood grains are gorgeous, the pieces are sturdy and well-​built… You could really get some lovely pieces for your home or apartment. As soon as I have a bigger condo to furnish, this will be a spot on my search.

We went in this morning looking for a new sofa. We looked around the showroom, sat on a few styles and narrowed our choices down to two. There was a man behind the counter who I assumed was an employee, talking to a woman sitting on a chair nearby. A few other people were walking around, but it wasn’t obvious if they were employees or customers.
We went back and forth between the two sofas trying to make a decision but no one came to help us, or even acknowledged we were there. Finally the man behind the counter stepped out and walked in our direction, and I thought he was going to wait on us, but instead he turned to some of the other people and started speaking with them.
At that point I had enough of being ignored and we turned to leave. As we were walking out this man finally looked toward us and said «Thanks for coming in!» with a big fake smile on his face. I just replied «Thanks for waiting on us.» and we left. And I guarantee we won’t be back.
Other reviewers are right that they are not pushy. But they are far from attentive or helpful and make you feel like you are not even worthy of their time.

We got our new couch here. It’s great! We probably would have gone elsewhere had it not been instantly available and 30% off. Still not cheap, but we appreciated their service and their selection. We got to ask lots of questions, and the sales person was attentive without being pushy.
We were really tempted by some great pieces by Lazar furniture, but we didn’t want to wait for two months to get custom fabrics done. Nothing they can do about that, but Howard helped us out quite a lot.
We know far too much about furniture shopping in Seattle after six weeks of couch hunting. After buying our couch, we got a postcard that their Southcenter store was closing and they were having a big liquidation sale, so we stopped in again. If we hadn’t been there two weeks earlier, we wouldn’t have realized that their sale prices were actually flat-​to-​slightly-​higher compared with what they were offering in their last sale. Ah well… such are the shenanigans of the industry.

If my budget wasn’t more along the lines of things I found for free on the side of the road I would totally shop here!
I’ve been in with family and friends a couple of times and the staff is always wonderful, pleasant and not pushy. They are really very interesting people and there’s no pressure to buy — a huge relief.
Ahh, Skarbos. Maybe when I learn to make a gazillion dollars like everybody else in Seattle I, too, will shop here.
