Specialties

We are a non-​denominational church committed to Capitol Hill in truth and love. We gather on Sunday morning and Sunday night to learn from the Bible and worship together, and throughout the week in apartments and houses to «do life together». All are welcome to join us as we seek to love Jesus, one another and our city.

History

Established in 2010.

We started as a small prayer meeting in a studio apartment on Capitol Hill. Since then we have met in living rooms, photo studios, clubs and dance halls. We currently meet in a 100 year old church on the back side of Cal Anderson Park.

It was a hot box in the sanctuary Sunday night when hubby and I joined this gathering for the first time. But, it was worth it to hear Pastor Justin Thomas share a poignant teaching on the book of Amos. They are currently in a series called «Minor Prophets, Minor Keys,» featuring local musicians who perform original music based out of the Old Testament books.

Calvary Hill is a great down to earth church part of the Calvary Chapel denomination. Pastor Justin speaks to an open audience of all backgrounds and faith and makes sure to be inclusive and stimulating for all listeners. As a small church, the entire atmosphere is warm and welcoming. You often see children running around before and after service, home made treats for all to share, and local gatherings for week night fellowship.
This church speaks the truth, no matter how hard it is to hear. Self-​righteous believers beware. Calvary the Hill will be a wake up call/​revivale for you.
