History
Established in 2005.
Blooma is a family business, and Martin’s two sons, Josiah and Michael, invested their hard-earned money in the business when it was launched. They have always worked for Blooma during school breaks, which has helped pay their tuition costs at the UW. Josiah recently earned his business degree, and Michael is in the electrical engineering program.
Our Blooma crew has been together for over two years, and they have become a well-oiled machine. Viking Drew, our crew boss, is an ISA certified arborist with extensive landscaping experience. Vuka, our favorite Croat, has been with us from day one (except for a two-year hiatus to be Mr. Mom to his son), bringing good mechanic skills and an eye for perfection, especially on clean up. And Chris, our groundsman and stump grinder extraordinaire, is always cheerful, willing to do whatever is required.

Business Owner
Blooma Tree Service is owned and operated by Martin Macauley, an ISA Certified Arborist (PN-5768A) and ISA Tree Risk Assessment specialist (CTRA822). Martin comes from a long line of tree experts. With a grandfather who was an Oregon lumberman in the 1930s and 40s, and a father who founded a successful lumber company in the 1960s and 70s, Martin grew up with a love of trees and a keen knowledge of balancing customer needs with natural aesthetics.
After earning a mechanical engineering degree (UW ’85) and an M.B.A. (Seattle U ’90), Martin found life as a Boeing engineer too stuffy (he calls it the «cubicle lifestyle»). He returned to the outdoors as a tree man, soon earning his arborist certificate from the International Society of Arboriculture and founding Blooma.
