Better Meat

I’ve been looking for a local butcher since moving here from NYC and was happy that this recommended spot was so close to me. I called them up and talked to a really friendly and helpful young man (Brendan?) who told me that yes, they have chicken parts and yes, they can hack them up into 2″ pieces for me. No need for me to dangerously wield my cleaver for chicken stock! The price was extremely reasonable and the service makes it even better value. I’ll definitely be back for more, Brendan gave me a list of all their products. So happy I found this butcher.

I really love this place. It reminds me of the butcher my parents used when I was a little kid. I get bones for my dogs here on the regular, along with high-​quality poultry and meat. They’ve saved more than one dinner party for me with their impressive selection. And as a bonus the staff couldn’t be nicer or more helpful.

Will only buy our meat from here. Great meat, fair prices, very helpful, and super personable. Beware the ½ pound hamburgers. Very addictive!

Thumbs up! They have an extensive list of meats, many not easy to come by at reasonable prices. The butcher experience you had back in the day, but now realize your missing. No frills and no fluff, just a good shop to get meat.

So stoked to have a REAL butcher in the neighborhood! These guys are super friendly, informative & just all-​around great! Went in & got food for my dog. I was impressed by the quality, ie locally & humanely raised meats. I will be going there for my pup/​family often!

I was a former A&J meats customer and had to find a new butcher when they closed in Dec. I am SO happy that I found these folks, and honestly wish I had gone sooner. Friendly service, excellent product, great people. Can’t ask for more.

I’ve been to almost every butcher shop in the greater Seattle area. The quality of the meat here is the best in the city (retail-​wise).

There s just no reason to go anywhere else. Super friendly and nice folks Educated me on the best size and type of roast. To celebrate my 50^th I got a prime rib, absolutely fantastic meal we had last night. Mike told me exactly how to prepare it and I followed his directions.
Sure their hours may be a challenge, but hey, its Better Meat than anywhere else!!!

I really love this place, it serves my needs quite nicely when the Seahawks necessitate offerings to the barbecue gods to bring us victories. I really wouldn’t change much of anything about it except for the hours. Closing at 4pm every day and not having any weekend hours makes it challenging to get in. That said, I’ve been extremely satisfied with all of the staff and the product. The ONLY reason I dinged them one star is for those hours.

Everyone here were so friendly and helpful! I wasn’t sure exactly what I needed since it was the first time making the dish. They asked all the questions and found exactly what I needed!

I’ve been meaning to visit Better Meat Co. after reading these glowing Unilocal reviews. More specifically I’ve been looking for a source raw food for my dog. The sticker shock for raw food was really something when I first went to a raw pet food boutique store. We usually spend about $ 100 or less to feed my dog for a month but the boutique prices would have had us spending at least double each month. Why raw pet food is so expensive in Seattle I don’t know. Anyhow, my puppy was the reason I went here. Though it’s not the cheapest source for raw pet food, it is cheaper than the boutique places. My dog was out of food for the rest of the week so I figure I’ll give this a try. Though we can no longer continue on a strictly raw food diet for pups (we used to pay $ 35 for 20lbs of ground turkey with bone at a raw food pet place back home), we will be buying it for our dog’s supplemental feeding. The price list they give you is great to keep on hand, for both the raw pet food, and the food for humans. I felt like I was in a candy store with all the options you have. I was pretty geeked to see they do offer goat, it’s my favourite protein for curry, as well as oxtail. They have a good selection of offal which I’m up for cooking (hey, it’s the most nutrient dense part of the animal!). You can purchase tongue, cows feet (excellent for curry/​source of gelatin), and other fun bits. Did I mention they sell duck fat? I know. Basically this place is heaven for Paleo peeps. I bought myself a chunk of femur to make bone broth. It’s cooking right now in the slow cooker. I can’t wait to try it! I used to buy beef from a local farmer back home but even then I couldn’t get any beef bones. It’s good I have a source now!
The location is in a residential area with free street parking. When you walk in, don’t expect to see a display. It’s a counter, and the friendly people are working away. Go through the list, have a chat about their products, and let them know what you’d like.

The best meat, the best service, at excellent prices. We try to buy all our meat here, though the retail hours make that challenging. It is worth it.

Went for the first time today and have to say this place is exactly as described. No pretense, just great meat. We bought a real variety including goat for stew and delicious thick cut sirloins — cut right in front of us — that made a fab dinner tonight. We will be back!

I was turned on to Better Meats by a good friend who makes homemade sausage, bacon, and other cured meats.
The quality of the meat is top notch but the prices are very reasonable. They’ll trim any cut to your liking and always have just about anything in stock. The staff is friendly and incredibly knowledgeable. I can’t believe I have driven by it so many times at not known it was there.
Have a strange request? Chances are they have it in stock.
Try them out. You will not be disappointed.

I enjoy coming in here to pick up fresh meat for the week. The butchers are friendly, and the meat is much fresher than what you get at the grocery.

I, being the procrastinator that i am, waited far too long to get my B-​day piggy for our pig roast. I called and they said they could have it for me in 2 days.
Another time i wanted a Beef brisket with fat cap still on which was surprisingly hard to find and they had it in stock!
And of course just now i needed to find duck livers. My boyfriend and i will be trying our hand at making pâté here soon. «No problem… How much do i need!?»
Im coming here for everything but the kitchen sink from now. Unpretentious and helpful this place is legit and I will send all my friends here!

Bought here burgers, hot dogs, steaks, turkey, and chicken. The butcher was knowledgeable, curtious, and his assistant confirmed on the phone that they don’t just take phone in orders and you can totaly drop in to get your meat; however, its best to call first since the general public hours are limited. While I was there his regulars came in to get supplies for the weekend, they did not call their orders ahead.
I already cooked all the meat and it was all delicious, localy grown and the chicken organic. Those were the best burgers I ever had.
Folks came in to get meat for their dogs too. So glad I found this place.
