I came here in advance like they told me to and prepaid for two large trays of chow mien, two large trays of beef broccoli for today and they didn’t have it ready they had the date wrong. Consequently the hombows weren’t ready too. I understand stuff happens but have some customer service. No I’m sorry no discount. Good maybe good but the service sucks. I was late delivering the food to the banquet. Never coming back again.

One of the best hidden secrets of Beacon Hill. Not to many people know about this place and maybe that is a good thing because the lines are still relatively short. There is nothing note worth on the inside, it’s actually a bit grimy, but the food is what matters. This is a ma and pa that makes some really good BBQ duck and dim sum items. Hands down they make the best hum bao’s for the price. Extra large chicken or pork hum baos for next to nothing in cost. Get the dim sum items to go and don’t forget your hum bao’s.

Do you know your body’s response to monosodium glutamate(MSG)? Some people have told me large doses of it give them a headache, make them sleepy, or even nauseous. I’m pretty sure the heavy load in the food I got from Beacon BBQ sent me into two full sleep cycles shortly after dining here.(Do realize that there are lots of food out there with MSG; just check out the ingredients on the back.) I haven’t had ha gow in years, so this definitely hit the spot. They are larger than I’m used to, but the flavor was what I was hoping for, your average shrimp dumpling. Delicious. Every time I order shumai, I think I like it, then after a couple bites, I remember that I actually don’t. The flavor is meaty and delicious, but I think the chunky texture in every bite just leaves me wondering, «What the heck parts of the animal did I just eat?» So I probably will discontinue ordering that for myself. Maybe I’ll forget my lesson. Unfortunately, the lechon was disappointing. I personally am not the biggest fan just because the greasiness makes me hate myself, but if I get it, I go for the skin. I had one bite of flesh, the flavor being sweet and fatty, kind of like duck, and one bite of skin, which was very chewy and not crunchy with that thin layer of fat that some people like. I can’t emphasize enough the disappointment when you buy lechon and the skin is chewy. And lechon meat should never be sweet, or THAT sweet. And the BBQ bao… Anywhere I go, I order bao, or siopao, for the bread. Rarely do I enjoy the filling. I love this steamed dough. The filling however, is very sweet to the point where I just wonder what kinds of ingredients they use to marinate the meat. My husband loves it with the thin layer of dough I leave on it:) Would I go back? Sure. Just for their ha gow and maybe bao dough. And with plenty of time left for an afternoon nap and the anticipation of feeling miserable afterward.

Aside from the location and the questionable cleanliness the food here is delicious. I really hate driving all the way out here but my parents love this place. The roast pig and roast duck has always been good and the skin on those is crispy and tasty. The banh bao whether it’s processed pork or chicken with the Chinese sausage and egg inside is pretty good and they give you a lot of meat. I like the outer bread too, it’s good not too dry and a little bit of sweetness. The BBQ pork banh bao has some good flavor as well and taste great while it’s still hot. Overall, I recommend coming here for any of their roasted animals and any of the banh baos.

Limited dim sum options but they’re all good– shu mai, shrimp balls, pork buns, all piping hot and delicious, and easy for take out.(and only get them to go. You don’t want to eat there) They ask you if you want sauce, and you should always get it. It’s salty, spicy, vinegary. perfect. If you let your dim sum sit for a few hours though, ones that have a wrapping like the shrimp balls will get hard. So don’t try to save some for later. It won’t be the same, although the filling will still be good to eat.

Cha siu? YESPLEASE! This is my go to place for Chinese BBQ pork & duck. Why? Because as much as I love Kau Kau, the convenience of this Beacon Hill hole in the wall cannot be beat! For those of you who live near or around Beacon Hill, this spot sure serves it up! Parking is available in the lot, it’s angle only but you have people parking in weird angles or parking straight. I always park like a jerk so people don’t hit my car LOL. There’s also street parking and hey if you’re ballsy, park at Seattle Supermarket and mozy on over! If you jaywalk, be careful not to jump out from the trees, ain’t nobody gonna stop for you so be careful! BBQ pork is by the pound, honestly for two people, a half pound is more than enough. I believe it’s about $ 13 a pound. The flavor is exquisite. Slow cooked, tender with a yummy sweet gingery glaze. I have to say, that the cha siu here tastes unlike anywhere I’ve tried before! It’s more on the gingery side, I personally love ginger so thumbs up! It’s always seasoned just right and fresh! The inventory and demand keeps it coming so I always trust that I’m getting quality fresh meats! You get a good mix of burnt ends, fatty succulent pieces and also those beautiful slices of meat… Mmm! I normally get a pound, and I will admit I just snack on the cha siu without rice because it’s very addicting. My family rolls the cha siu into spring rolls which is one of my favorites! We also buy roast pork from here — it doesn’t beat my favorite spot in Tacoma BUT it’s reasonably priced and comes with a nice plum sauce. They also sell dimsum on the side! I haven’t tried anything but the footballs(my mom LOVES them!). Crispy on the outside and dirt cheap. They run out pretty fast but be sure to ask for them! Solid BBQ joint, check it out if you’re too lazy to go to Chinatown!

Places like this make me feel grateful I live in the south side – dim sum as TAKEOUT? Hells to the yes. If you don’t want to wait for carts, crowds, and noisy dining rooms but still want a giant dose of shiu mai or har gow, this is the place to go. They have decent BBQ duck as well, though i do wish the skin was a tad crispier. Overall, if I need to have a dim sum lunch or dinner at home, this is the place to go. Bonus: some parking at the front! No frills, kinda dive-y inside, but kinda cool that I saw someone actually rolling the dumpling dough.

This is my go-to store to buy Lechon(whole roast pig) and Siu Mai(biggest and best in Seattle). Their Har gow is pretty good too.

Deep fried(light batter) chicken wings for your parties or periods of gluttony. Currently $ 6/lb, but subject to change like the weather… Make sure you order them fresh or else they’ll give you the ones sitting under the warming lamp. Also be sure to watch them carefully as they weigh the wings or whatever you are purchasing. Oh yeah, they have a parking lot in front, but just beware of the big potholes.

This place is a complete dive but they have awesome har gow. They remind me of Jade Garden’s, which are huge and completely stuffed with flavorful shrimp. I would definitely come back just for my har gow fix. I didn’t get to try the other limited dim sum items or the Chinese barbeque since it is Lent. But what I saw were siu mai, steamed hum bao, chicken feet and the steamed rice cakes. I did get a fried to order tilipia to go as well. This is a to go place only as they do not have any tables to sit and eat. I mean they do have a couple but they seem to do some work on them as they had the telephone and paperwork on the tables when I was there.

This is not a place to sit and dine at but a great place for take out. You don’t even have to call ahead and order unless you plan to place a huge order. They’ve got roasted pork, duck, BBQ pork, chicken and sometimes fried rice & noodles. I like to come here for the HUGE and generous shumai that are available hot and ready to go. I also like the mini BBQ humbaos they have. 10 for $ 6! Also, available is chicken feet which I happen to enjoy. Sometimes they even have shrimp balls and other delightful steamed dim sum items. Private parking lot is plentiful so never an issue. They also accept credit cards.

In all fairness, I’m basing the 5 stars off of their shrimp chowmein and their prices. I haven’t had any of their other food. But I would def go back for the shrimp chowmein alone. A decent sized order only cost $ 3, and it was excellent.

Love their shu mai and ha gow which are both very reasonably priced. Makes great appetizers for a party, visiting gift, or sometimes we just take ‘em home for a dim sum dinner!

This business was added in Unilocal as ‘Beacon Bar B Que’ before I added a tip a while back: I wonder if the business name can be updated to ‘Beacon BBQ”? My guess is that you’ve driven by this place on Beacon Ave and dismissed it. It’s really easy to! I walk to Jefferson Park and pass by this place regularly. I’m not sure if they provide dim sum to other restaurants, or if it is strictly for regular retail customers. They have a big rolling steam table standing by the deli case filled with a little or a lot of variety of dim sum. Complete feast or famine thing. The shrimp dumplings are giant happy to-go pillows. They’re so good, I don’t even use the sauce. The real draw here is the BBQ duck here. Reasonably priced and just as good as King’s.(The sauce is a bit salty, drizzle at your own risk.) I do love it when people chop up my meat in front of me – it makes for an authentic experience. In their deli case, they also have fried fat back, vegetables, rice balls, noodles and fresh BBQ pork – and though I look at the case every time, I never see anything in it that has ever made me want to try it. Also, they are really good about upselling you on their goods, but the BBQ duck and chicken are usually enough for me :) I dunno though… Is this place a front for something else? They’ve been here as long as I’ve lived on the hill. Help me figure it out!
