Batteries Plus Bulbs

Batteries Plus Bulbs was a lifesaver to me. I had just been told at the nearby Best Buy that my two cell phones were worthless, that I might as well throw them away. One, because I’d never find another charger, and the other had quit working. They said it was unfixable. I stopped into BPB, not expecting anything. But they immediately fixed me up with a battery for the phone that didn’t work, and a new charger for each phone. They both work great now. Great service and they are very knowledgeable here!

I walked into this, the Northgate location, of Batteries + Bulbs. I needed a replacement battery for my garage door opener and knew what kind of battery I needed. The current battery is also not dead, I just happened to be across the street at another merchant, so it was convenient to pop in and I suspect the battery is close to needing to be replaced anyway. The guy behind the counter takes my garage door opener and says, «for $ 16 I’ll open this, figure out what kind of battery you need, replace it for you… you know… do all the work for you! Then, whenever you need to get another battery, you’ll only have to pay for the battery.» I said, «thanks, that won’t be necessary; I can do this. I just need the battery. Can I use your screwdriver to pop the case?»
To which he says, «No, we can’t lend you our tools.» I was stunned. An astonishingly sleazy and arm twisting up sell technique. Needless to say, I did not buy the $ 5 battery for $ 16. Based on other reviews I’ve now read here, this is normal practice for this place. Under no circumstances would I ever set foot in here again, and I encourage everyone else to avoid it as well.

I checked on the website and it said they had a battery for my phone and that they were on sale for 15% off.
I go there about 2 hours later walk in tell the guy I want to replace the battery in my GS4. He says «is it a phone or a notebook or what». Of course it is a phone and he knows it but I tell him «phone, AT&T» and he very coldly says «please remove the case from the phone». As he’s taking my phone apart he starts asking me about my battery charger and telling me I probably need to replace my charger and that’s why my battery is going dead so quickly. I know right away that he’s trying to upsell me but ask how much for the charger and he tells me $ 10. I say «well maybe next week» and he says «next week they are $ 20». I mean this person has no customer service skills whatsoever or he just hates my guts but it kind of seems like both. I mean he could have said «well it is only for this week». I really I was already very annoyed with his demeanor. that’s when I remembered that the battery was listed as on sale on the website so I mention the sale. He said that they were not on sale and so I decided could just take my business elsewhere. I don’t care if I have to spend full price somewhere else I’ll take my money where the employees respect that it is the customers who are why they have job in the first place. By the way Mr. Store owner, I didn’t get the name of the clerk but he looked like he was about 12 years old and had short blond hair.
Btw, I get home and check the website and they ARE on sale! Jerk!

I walked into the Northgate location and almost immediately found the obscure battery for my parents’ ancient 1998 car key fob. One of the staff members, Scot, showed me the store, and when I mentioned I would need to outfit an apartment soon, he pointed out the deals they offer on bulbs as well as batteries, deals I found amazing. I will be back to this store for both for the savings and variety and because the staff are friendly and helpful.

Very helpful service. I went in for a replacement UPS battery and almost bought the wrong one because it looked the same. The battery I needed was on sale and they sell vehicle batteries and bulbs so I didn’t have to make a second stop at an auto parts store. The person manning the counter even offered to test my existing car battery (no need, it’s dying, but I’m happy that he made the offer) and they take any kind of battery back for recycling.

I will not be shopping here anymore. The employees here seem like they are under a ton of pressure to only sell you stupid impulse items to increase the sale amount and they don’t care if you say no, they still offer many, many times. Also, when I was there last, a manager was belittling an employee behind the counter and telling him he needs to get with the program and sell more and that he should just look for a new job if he wouldn’t. Talk about creating low employee morale. I understand it happens in retail all the time, but do it in the backroom away from customers. Very unprofessional and I will find my batteries elsewhere from now on.

My fire detector died and did not take the usual 9 volt batteries. I couldn’t figure out what size these were and still do not know.
I took my dead battery into Batteries Plus Bulbs since I figure I should go to the source and save time rather than another big box store where they may not carry it. I was walking around the battery display when the employee asked me if I needed a battery or bulb. I answered «battery» and showed her what I needed. She asked how many, went to the display I was standing at and plucked out the one I needed (it was at the very bottom of the rack so it would have taken me a while to get it).
A pair was over $ 14! I commented that it was expensive. She said that’s the cost of lithium, which didn’t seem to be a great explanation to me, since these were Rayovac brand and not even Duracell. But since the batteries that I replaced were in use for 5yrs, I guess that’s alright (although the ones I replaced were Duracell).
I was in and out in less than 5mins, so that’s worth some points in addition to carrying a weird sized battery.

After being told by the T-​Mobile store at Northgate that they don’t carry batteries for phones anymore, and being referred to Batteries Plus Bulbs, I stopped in one evening. It was probably 7:50PM or so, and I just assumed that the store closed at 9:00. I entered an empty store and found the salesperson to be super helpful, even though the store closes at 8:00PM. He offered up a couple of options on batteries and also told me about their watch battery deal ($ 12ish for lifetime battery replacement per watch). I’ll definitely make this my go-​to place for watch batteries, which I seem to need all the time.

this place charges 10x the price as online. Buy your batteries online people! Dont throw money away.

I needed a battery for an old discontinued cell phone, and the rep (I think her name was Chris) special ordered it for me from another store, called to confirm when it arrived a couple of days later, and even bought me a cup of coffee as an apology for it coming in one day late! Such a sweet salesperson and an unexpectedly pleasant experience in a busy work day. Will definitely be back!

They would not allow me to use a coupon that states on my next purchase I can get 10% off. When I went up to the counter to pay for a light bulb, I said I would like to use a 10% coupon. The clerk said, ‘nice try, this is for your next purchase’. I said it is my next purchase, and he refused to accept it, despite my buying a battery 5 minutes before that.
I won’t go back to that location.

Batteries Plus saved me a ton of money on some equipment that I support: I paid $ 23/​battery vs. the $ 200 the OEM wants– that is a LOT of scratch when you multiply by 20 batteries.
Tons of other batteries that would be useful around the house too like cell phones and watch batteries and motorcycle batteries. The employees were quite helpful in locating my batteries and bringing them out to my vehicle, I will be coming back.
Pro tip– there is a small parking lot out back that is quite convenient.

This place has tons and tons of batteries. As someone who prefers to shop with minimal help, there is essentially no way you’ll find the battery you need without a salesperson looking it up and locating it. Then there’s the sale, I was there for a cell phone battery and was offered two or three different chargers I *should* buy. Was offered some AA batteries (who uses that many batteries any more?)
AND finally was handed coupons for every category of battery imaginable. It was intense.
I’m hesitant to say this due to my strong desire to support local brick & mortar stores… but… the battery I got would have cost a ¹⁄₃ the price if I got it on Amazon, but I needed it ASAP because I was going out of town and couldn’t even wait for next day shipping.

I must extol the virtues of Mike. I had a dead phone that wouldn’t charge with the new charger that I purchased online. With some time constraints bearing down, I called AT&T at Northgate who referred me to Mike here. I explained my situation and he suggested that I bring the phone and the new charger to the store. He had the battery in stock but wanted to check both parts to ensure that it WAS the battery and not the charger. Fingers crossed, we headed down there.
We parked at the back and walked along the driveway to the front. He was the sole employee so we waited until he was done with a laptop battery issue before he could focus on the phone. After he removed the old battery, popped in the new one, it was alive! ALIVE! He also checked the charger that I brought in and definitely pronounced that battery dead. I printed out an online coupon and saved a little money so all in all, it was a five-​star experience all the way around :)

I had a hard time finding a battery for my scale at home & searched many different places. These guys had it! Woo hoo!

These guys are good. Went into the store and the staff were knowledgeable, about 30% less than retail. Didn’t have the MacBook battery I needed, but went online to
and within 60 sec I had found the right battery and was checking out. The online interface was super easy to use and free ground shipping is always nice! Try them out, I don’t think you will be disappointed.

I went in to look for a new battery for my cellphone since mine was getting old and the salesman there was very aggressive and insisted that I buy a battery that didn’t mach the specs but just some cheap junk that was smaller than my original one. I decided to pass on the battery and get a solar charger that he was 100% sure would work for my phone since it fit the charger. After getting home and reading the manual it wasn’t recommended for my voltage limits and would cause my battery to overheat. Thanks for being worthless batterys plus.

If I could rate ⁰⁄₅ I would. I bought a battery here at the recommendation of a camera store. The Batteries Plus sales rep looked on their database and located a battery in stock that was allegedly compatible with my camera. $ 65 later I brought it home and charged it, then put it in my camera — only to find it was not compatible! I looked very closely at the battery and it had scratches and clear wear marks and grime — it was definitely used. When I called the store and spoke to the same sales rep, she was completely perplexed and gave me the impression she couldn’t care less. She said I needed to bring in my camera so she could see for herself that it wasn’t compatible. What? She doesn’t believe me! I wish I had read the reviews about this place before I wasted my time. I will definitely be telling the camera store about my experience and recommending they don’t promote this business to others.

They’d rather sell you what they have onhand than make sure you get a truly compatible battery. The hassle of their return policy (within 14’days, in original packaging, and only after a 24 hour test to insure resellability) protects them from having to take back whatever useless battery they’ve sold you. Awesome way to do business, guys.
Keep looking or hold out for delivery from OEM. These guys are horrible.

The best part about this store is that they have a very large selection, and they seem quite knowledgeable and quick. So, if you need it right away, there’s a good chance they’ll have it. It won’t be cheap, but when you need an uncommon battery and don’t have time to wait for internet ordering and delivery schedules, you’ll be glad they’re there. Also the staff is very friendly and helpful, on the phone and in person.
