Baja Fresh Mexican Grill

Closed? Are you out of your God Damn mind!!!

I know, I know, it is closed now but I still like this place. I like the flavors in everything I have ever ordered here and it always tastes fresh. Too bad they closed.

I lived in LA for 5 years and trekked (drove) to Cesar Chavez Ave in East Los for authentic tacos at King Taco. Compared to all the other chain Mexican restaurants I have been to in Seattle, Baja tastes most like Tijuana and East Los to me. I do not know what some of these franchises are thinking. Qboda-​white rice? Taco del Mar-​ground beef? Chipotle-​cubed dry meat? Don’t get me started about the burritos at Aqua Verde.
Ironically, burritos are an American invention and have no place in authentic Mexican food but my penny pinching instincts from the college years craves this stuff.
I typically get the Burrito Ultimo-​grilled onions, bell peppers, black beans, sour cream, salsa baja and your choice of pollo, carne asada, or carnitas. I usually get the carne asada. It is well seasoned (In contrast to other reviewers, the saltiness of the beef actually makes me quite thirsty. They also serve Negro Modelo.)
There is a fresh salsa bar that offers pico de gallo, salsa baja, roja, molcajete, and verde. Fresh lime and cilantro are also available.
So if you want a quick burrito fix and do not want to commit to a Gorditos burrito that can feed all of North Korea, try Baja Fresh.

Honestly, can’t say that I like this place or the chain. It just doesn’t taste good to me. Is it bland? I think it’s bland.
Sorry, but I’ll take Azteca over Baja Fresh.

I always get the Burrito Dos Manos with Chicken. I’ve never gotten anything else; actually, I don’t think they have anything else. I think that’s all you can get.

Baja Fresh: Not bad, but not great, and definitely bland. I had some chicken burrito and it was mostly beans. There was supposedly hot salsa on it, but I ended up putting literally every option from the salsa bar on it to give it some flavor. This worked, but I would have preferred that it had its own flavor. Generous portions. I turned down the chips, but I think they’re free, which is cool. Everyone working there was speaking Spanish, which is apparently not reflected in the authenticity of the food. But everyone was nice and my order came quickly. Spic n span. There was a woman not only wiping off the tables, but also the chairs and bases of the tables in the dining room.
It was OK, but I’d choose Chipotle over this any day.

In the words of Dennis Green (and I paraphrase), «They [Baja Fresh] are what I thought they were!»
And that is to say, Baja Fresh is a pleasant but moderately bland chain that caters to middle America with reasonable facsimiles of Mexican good. I haven’t been to a Baja Fresh in quite a few years, but despite the time differential and a location many miles from my last visit in Denver, Colorado, my Baja Burrito was exactly what I thought it would be.
Reasonbly tasty. Moderately flavorful. Not at all controversial or shocking. And definitely not spicy, but then again, I do like the mild verde salsa.
This is middle of the road stuff for those who aren’t adventurous or prefer that the food in Seattle tastes precisely like it does in Denver or Las Vegas or wherever they happen to be. You don’t become a national chain by catering to a select local set of taste buds.
I do have the say the young man behind the counter was very pleasant and in a far better mood than if he happened to be working at a Taco Bell. I presume that’s the case, anyhow. The last time I stepped into a Taco Bell was in 1992. But that’s a story for another day.

This review is so simple to me. Baja Fresh is always well… fresh. Clean, folks are friendly, the food is as advertised. The major problem is, it lacks any real flavor. The salsas are blah… the ingredients are blah… it just lacks any real punch. I went today for the last time, I like fresh stuff, but I at least have to taste it.
sorry… 2 stars. I have had much better food. Everything else is fine… but at the end of the day, I go to eat.

Should I be ashamed to admit that a chain fast food Mexican place reminds me of home? I’m thinking I should be but honestly I’m not.
When ever I get a craving for a Rubio’s Baja shrimp burrito I head to Baja Fresh and order their Baja burrito with shrimp. Yes it’s like 10,000 dollars more than I’d pay in San Diego but it gets the job done and makes my belly happy. I will admit that it did take a few visits to get over the sticker shock of said Baja shrimp burrito but I’m over it now and all is good. Also their chips are tasty and if you splurge and get the guacamole to dip them in it makes for a nice little pre-​burrito treat.
The place is bright and airy and clean and they have a salsa bar, a yummy salsa bar at that, that’s normally kept up. The employees are always friendly and helpful and get my order right the first time. They also have outdoor seating so if you like to pretend you’re down in sunny Baja Mexico enjoying your tasty Baja style burritos you can sit out there and do it, though there are only a few days a year that you can actually pretend to be in sunny Baja Mexico because after all this is Seattle.

Hot damn, this is some fine mexi-​delexi! That means it’s good.
Came here for maybe the hundredth time yesterday, and time & time again it delivers deliciousness to my hollow belly. Too many burritos to recommend, so I guess you too should come more than once (or order one of everything and take one bite from each, money bags). The large soda comes in a reusable plastic cup with lid, and if you remember to bring it in on following visits, your soda only costs $ 0.99. The variety at the salsa bar is delightful and chock full of jalapeño peppers if that’s what it takes to get you hot. The employees are always beyond helpful and nice, and there is always at least one person on the floor maintaining the cleanliness of the seated portion of the restaurants as well as the bathrooms. Plus the portions are humungo and under-​priced for the amount you get.
Me gusta, Baja Fresh… until next time…

Baja Fresh is so beautifully bland, it makes me feel like I might be in China. A tall, well-​lit space, everything hard and shiny and polished, decent food of no recallable character available through the most minimal of human interaction, mildly pleasant music that melts away at the slightest mental touch – none of these things is particularly Mexican, nor particularly American, and certainly not particularly Chinese, and yet somehow the thoroughgoing lack of particularity makes me feel like I’m high up in some expensive bit of Chinese central-​city real estate, throwing away big wads of renminbi for an hour or so of quiet amid the overpopulated chaos.
It’s not everyplace that can deliver that kind of mental dislocation. Besides, they have tall tables with tall chairs. Tall tables with tall chairs are always worthwhile.

Best fast mexican in the city? I don’t think so. Casa D’s is better, and if you’re willing to go to the Eastside, Ooba’s is FAR better. And there are others. I’ve been here twice for lunch. It is slightly better than Taco Del Mar, on that I agree.
Yes it’s fresh with pretty good ingredients, but the combos are odd. If you want a burrito with meat, beans, rice and cheese (and who doesn’t?), it’s not on the menu. You’d have to add cheese for $.50. Want sour cream? Add another $.50. Nickel and dime, nickel and dime, you’ll end up spending $ 7 f
