We were moving in from out of town, to a sight-​unseen condo and needed some help unloading the truck. Our realtor recommended Alex, and there’s no way we could have possibly been happier. They were great about speed, efficiency, not breaking anything, not damaging the place, very friendly… there’s no way it could have gone better! And for a great price too!
Our only regret was how difficult our building was to get into and that there was no place on the electronic payment method to give them their well-​deserved tip :-(Sorry guys! We absolutely would have! I hope this review can make up for it a little bit. You helped make a long and difficult move have a great end to it, which we really appreciated!

Great movers who were easy to communicate with to setup the appointment, on-​time, and worked diligently.
I had called around various movers and A-Ray’s prices were very competitive. They arrived on-​time and we packed up my 2bdrm apartment simultaneously, me packing alongside the A-Ray’s team. They worked diligently to pack up my apartment in a couple of hours and then off to the new location where they were quick to unload the truck.
I also referred them to a friend who was also very happy with their experience with A-Ray’s. Definitely give them a call when you need to move!

This team was AMAZING! I worked with Alex on an estimate and scheduling the date, which had to be moved 3 separate times due to our closing date change, but he was incredibly accommodating and understanding.
We had 3 guys show up for the actual move, they showed up on time and just kicked ass the entire day, which was a long one. Bob, Darwin, and I think his name was Yukiko worked their asses off and were incredibly helpful, even helping box up some last minute things we didn’t get to. It ended up being a very long day, but they were literally running down the ramp with their arms full until the last item was unloaded and in it’s proper place. They seem to care about your items, getting things done quickly, and making things as easy as possible for their clients. Only one small plant saucer didn’t make it intact, but it’s an easy fix.
A-Ray’s was referred to me by friends who were really happy with their service and I’d have no hesitation referring them to others after my experience.

These guys are great. First, you deal with the owner directly, Alex. He’s on top of things for sure. Then he sends guys who know what they’re doing and are smart and friendly. Howard and Daniel. They actually seem to care about your stuff. Then they hand you a written receipt that is about half what you expect. They turn a typically unpleasant experience into a great one. Thanks guys!

Another great experience with Alex and his crew. This was my second move with them, and I hope to use them again. Alex was super friendly and accommodating, and the 2-​man crew who helped me with my move was friendly, hard-​working, careful, and efficient. Money well spent!

This is my first time using a mover, and I had my share of doubt because of all the horrible reviews on Unilocal (about other movers) and I had no idea what to expect. I spent hours reading Unilocal reviews and calling different movers and eventually chose A-​Ray. And A-​Ray totally exceeded my expectation and more. I would not hesitate to hire them if I need to move again.
The communication before the move was very smooth. Unlike some of other movers I contacted, Alex (the owner, i think) was always timely, polite and patient. On the day of the move, my team of two arrived on time and started to work as soon as they parked the truck. Many times I was on the edge of telling them «guys, you really don’t need to run, just take your time!». They did not waste a single minute when they were on the clock. They also brought moving equipment my loose items (bags, yoga mat roll, etc) were well protected. I peeked into the truck before leaving for my new apartment, and oh boy it was so organized even as a person with OCD I had nothing to complain.
Throughout the move, the two gentlemen were polite, professional, and cheerful. It was truly a great experience.

We just moved this past Sunday and they were able to accommodate our last minute request. Alex and his coworker did an amazing job in getting everything in the truck (they do everything with a lot of care and make sure everything is safely packed and covered to prevent damage!), transporting it, and setting it up again in our new place! They are friendly and very professional! I will make sure to use them again in my future moves.

I recently used them for my third move and there’s reason I keep using them. The owner Alex is very professional and responds quickly. Any issues we encountered he took care of 100%. The moves were all quick and professional and reasonably priced. I would highly recommend this company for moving services.

This is a long overdue review. A friend asked for a recommendation for movers recently and I realized I never reviewed A-​Rays! I’ve used them twice and highly recommend them. The times I used them they arrived on time and the movers were extremely friendly and hard-​working. They move so quickly that I always end up paying less than I anticipate. They charge by the hour so you think that they would move slowly to get more money but they don’t. They worked very hard. Please please please tip your movers! It is worth every penny to not have to worry about breaking things, lifting things, we’re getting everything done in one day. What would take most people 1 – 2 days takes them a few hours.

We used Alex and his team for a second move and it was again a perfect moving experience. Nothing broken, nothing stolen, on time, on budget– and just all round good guys to work with.
This is the only moving company I would use in Seattle.

My experience had both good and bad points. The company was very responsive to my calls, followed up with me and got me an appointment within a very short timeframe. The movers were on-​time, and very quick. My main issue was that they caused two rather large scratches in my new home. There was a definitely sacrifice of quality for speed. At one point, one of the movers tried moving a piece by himself that really should have had two people move it, and put a large scratch on my ceiling.
I’d rather have paid more for the move if they had taken their time.

1 Bedroom apartment that was less than 500 sq ft = $ 630. Nicks in the drywall and broken items — for that amount I expect more! I don’t blame the 2 movers, but they get tired and move slow by the end. Bad customer service when I spoke to the manager too. I understand $ 90/​hr, but movers get slow and it’s still only a ONE BEDROOM MOVE!

We’ll add our review to the many positive experiences here. Moving is one of those universally «most stressful» ordeals, and I recommend getting professional help like A-Ray’s to reduce troubles and worries. Alex provided a wonderful moving solution as promised! He was pretty responsive and communicative during initial chats, and helped make the overall process less stressful. He even called to let us know a morning appt. had freed up (we had booked an afternoon one), though we didn’t take it.
We initially needed stuff moved from one apt. to another, though the emphasis of this changed to furniture assembly. On the day of the move, Alex and Ian showed up, prepared with dollies and power tools. We were definitely impressed by their can-​do attitudes and expediency to get to work once we showed them what we needed them to do. They multitasked effectively, and amidst other banter, saved us a lot of time and labor setting up various pieces. They even modded our bedframe for better stability with a creative approach to problem-​solving — pretty clever in the spur of the moment!
Alex and Ian were also thorough in asking if there was anything else they could help with while they were present. After the job was done, billing was straightforward, and they explained it helpful.
One small thing: on their website, they note a «one hour minimum» but it’s actually a two-​hour minimum including travel time. I emailed them to clarify this.

I have now used A Ray’s 3 times in the last 4 years. Alex and his company are fantastic. Very reasonable price of $ 90 /​hour. 2 of the times i had Alex the owner moving and he and his partner are perfect in moving the stuff in a timely manner, while also focusing on being careful with your things.
Not a single problem with any of the 3 moves.

They were hard working. they did the job in the time i expected for the cost i expected. They were pretty careful with our stuff. They were friendly but did not waste time. I would defiantly use them again if i have another in town move.

I was really disappointed with the moving services provided to my partner. It took 3 movers, 7 ½ hours and $ 900 to move a single person 850sqft apartment. I hired a different company that took only 2 ½ hours to move my daughter and I’s 900sqft apartment for $ 265.

Couldn’t have asked for a better move! It was quick, easy and relatively cheap.
The moving company I used before this charged me a lot of money just to send a couple of meth heads to move my stuff. It was refreshing to work with Alex who’s a true professional.

I chose Alex’s moving company because of Unilocal reviews and the fact that they have very competitive prices. I’ve used his service 2x in the two years I’ve lived in Seattle. A-Ray’s Moving helped me once to move my heavy items from Redmond to Seattle and another time to move my items stacked in a small U-​Pack container for my move back to California.
Alex and his crew are very efficient. I would highly recommend that you stay organized. Pack all your things ahead of time, which room they will be in and mark which one is fragile, will help the entire process. This makes the whole flow of things very smooth. If it’s just load and unload, you won’t get a more fair price than these guys. They handle things fast and are very friendly.
As for wood furniture, make sure you wrap it yourself first. I got a slight scratch on the legs of my expensive couch (which I plan to rub some walnut so no one can tell) but it’s slight. They know how to maneuver things out of your doorway if you’re afraid it’s too big. It took them only one try to get my couch out my apartment and through to a narrow hallway without damage. Compare that to the furniture company that took 30 minutes to see how they can get that same couch in. Tell them which items you need to protect with shrink-​wrap – and they’ll get it. (I didn’t think about the legs of my couch so check up.) You might need to be lenient to do some dusting after the move and checking up, but I found you’d have to do this with any moving company. They are expert stackers and was able to put my life in a U-​PACK with extra space. That’s an entire studio apartment worth of stuff – not easy!
Alex and his crew is quick, courteous and efficient. If you fill the form online, they’ll get back to you very quickly. If you call them, they definitely call you back. They got good attitude and work harder than many people I know. I’d recommend them for prepared, organized people who want to get a move done at a competitive rate.

First and foremost, their prices are hard to beat. They charge a flat hourly rate regardless of how much stuff you’re actually moving (I had two movers and the rate was $ 90/​hr) and if you have your stuff organized relatively well such that it’s easy to load and unload, you’re not going to find a lower price. Note that they charge 0.5 hour for travel time to the move site and another 0.5 hour for time traveling from the move site.
I’ve used them twice in the past year for two separate moves– the first from Renton to Shoreline and then the second from that original Shoreline house to a different neighborhood in Shoreline.
The first time (Renton-​Shoreline), the company was a little smaller and the actual owner, Alex, was one of the movers. I couldn’t have been happier with this one. Everything was perfectly done in a timely manner and it made moving day as seamless and painless as possible. I’d give 6 stars for that instance.
So naturally, there was a clear cut moving company winner for the Shoreline-​Shoreline move. However, I think that the company has been a victim of their own success because the second experience was not quite as good. They’ve clearly expanded and have hired more people which I think is the primary reason for the dropoff. The owner was not there this time and it was two other guys (they wrote down their names on the final invoice, but I have long since lost that piece of paper). There were a couple weird things that rubbed me the wrong way–
First, the movers would disappear for 10 – 15 minutes at a time when moving stuff out of the truck into the house. The first time it happened, I just chalked it up to the fact that they were getting something heavy like the mattress or the table. But that first time they each came in with just a dining room chair. Maybe 10 pounds and something that should have been grab-​n-​go. It happened 3 or 4 times throughout the move. Maybe breaks were supposed to be included in the hourly rate, but since I wasn’t told that they were included, it upset me that they seemed to be taking them. That definitely wasn’t something that happened in the Renton-​Shoreline move when the owner was present.
Second, I watched them take a wrong turn en route from house 1 to house 2 and then take an additional 20 minutes to get there after I arrived. The drive time between house 1 and house 2 should take about 5 minutes, so it shouldn’t have taken THAT long to get there, even if you did make a couple wrong turns. I understand that people make mistakes, but my expectation is that the mistake is fixed in an expeditious manner, especially when you’re charging the customer an hourly rate.
Finally, the interaction/​chatter between the two guys was just not that professional. I don’t have kids, but if I did, I probably wouldn’t have wanted them to be within earshot. Definitely some unnecessary, audible vulgarity. Because really, strangers don’t need to know about the sex you had last night in such great detail.
I hate moving and I hope to not have to do it again for a very long time, but I would probably still use A-Ray’s again for the next move simply because the price is so good. If the movers behave in a similar, less-​than-​professional manner next time, it might make me reconsider. But then again, the price is just so good…

I hired A-Ray’s to do a one bedroom/​one bathroom move from Fremont to Cap Hill because I was referred to them by a friend who raved about these guys. I’ve used movers two previous times before (one company move 3000 miles and one from Wallingford to Fremont) and I wouldn’t say they’re bad but I felt like they left much more to be desired.
Very nice and friendly guys who packed the truck up very very quickly. Once we arrived to my new apartment, they wouldn’t pack up the entire freight elevator and move items up quicker. They took 4 – 5 loads up when it could have take 2 – 3 full elevator loads. It took them over 2 hours to get all my stuff into my new apartment WITH the help of myself and a friend.
They charged me for 3 hours and 45 minutes though I did not think it was fair. Not only that but they didn’t ask me where I wanted anything and so I had to completely rearrange things after they left. One guy offered to help me arrange but there was barely walking room (looked like an episode of Hoarders) and I wanted them to get out ASAP.
On top of that, I noticed that all my black furniture has scratch marks ALL OVER them… probably from the hand cart they were using. As a moving company, I would think they would’ve laid down a blanket or something.
Did they get all my stuff into my apartment? Yes. Were there furniture casualties and unsatisfied expectations? Yes.
